Single Level Installation
For a single-level installation (no daisy-chaining):
- Ground the CS1708A / CS1716A and ensure all connected computers are powered off.
- Connect a keyboard, mouse, and monitor to the console port using the provided console cable.
- Use KVM cable sets to connect each KVM port to the keyboard, video, and mouse ports of the respective computers.
- Plug the power adapter cable into the switch's power jack and then into an AC power source.
- Turn on the computers.
Operation
The CS1708A / CS1716A offers three methods for accessing connected computers:
1. Manual Port Switching
Use the front panel pushbutton switches to manually switch between ports.
2. OSD Port Switching
The On-Screen Display (OSD) features a two-level password system (administrator/user). A login screen appears before the main OSD. If it's the first use or no password is set, press [Enter]. The main OSD screen appears in administrator mode. To select a port, double-click it or highlight it and press [Enter]. The OSD hotkey can optionally be changed to the [Ctrl] key, requiring a double press of the same [Ctrl] key.
3. Keyboard Port Switching (Hotkeys)
All hotkey operations require activating Hotkey mode. Two sequences are available:
Default Hotkey: Number Lock and Minus Keys
Press and hold [Num Lock], press and release [-], then release [Num Lock]. Sequence: [Num Lock] + [-]
Alternative Hotkey: Control and F12 Keys
Press and hold [Ctrl], press and release [F12], then release [Ctrl]. Sequence: [Ctrl] + [F12]
