This guide provides an overview of the ION Discover DJ's top panel features and basic operation.

Getting Started with DISCOVER DJ

  2. Open the Cross DJ software by double-clicking the icon on your computer's Desktop (if a shortcut was created) or by navigating through your computer's programs: Start ► All Programs ► MixVibes ► Cross – Discover DJ (Windows) or Applications ► MixVibes (Mac).

For more detailed information on using the Cross DJ software, please refer to the manual provided on the accompanying CD. This manual is a .pdf document available in the language you selected during software installation.

Top Panel Features

The ION Discover DJ features a comprehensive set of controls for music mixing. Below are descriptions of the key features:

The top panel features two decks, each with a large jog wheel, pitch fader, browse knob, volume controls, EQ knobs (Bass, Treble), and other function buttons like Sync, Cue, Play/Pause, and Reverse.

  1. BROWSE KNOB: Turn this knob to scroll through and select music tracks within the software. Press the knob to enter a folder or return to the next-highest folder in the software.
  2. JOG WHEEL: This wheel allows you to scratch or search through the track on the deck, depending on the selected mode (Scratch/Search button).
    • Scratch Mode: When the SCRATCH LED is lit, moving the JOG WHEEL scratches the track, similar to moving the platter on a turntable.
    • Search Mode: When the SCRATCH LED is off and the deck is paused, moving the JOG WHEEL searches through the track. If the deck is playing in Search Mode, moving the JOG WHEEL bends the pitch of the track, slightly altering its speed. Releasing the wheel returns the track to its normal pitch. This is useful for manually beat-matching two tracks.
  3. PITCH FADER: Adjusts the pitch (speed and tempo) of the track on the deck.
  4. SYNC Button: Used to synchronize the tempo of two tracks.
  5. CUE Button: Used for setting cue points and pre-listening to tracks.
  6. PLAY/PAUSE Button: Starts or pauses playback of the track.
  7. REVERSE Button: Reverses the playback of the track.
  8. TREBLE: Adjusts the high-end frequencies of the music on the deck.
  9. BASS: Adjusts the low-end frequencies of the music on the deck.
  10. VOLUME: Adjusts the volume level of the music on the deck.
  11. MASTER VOLUME: Adjusts the overall volume of the mix (both decks combined). Use the individual VOLUME knobs to adjust each deck's volume separately.
  12. CROSSFADER: Slide this fader towards a deck to bring that deck's track into the mix. This is essential for blending tracks, transitioning between songs, and creating a smooth mix.

Note: The features listed here are not exhaustive. The Cross DJ software offers many other useful DJing features to explore. Please consult the CD manual for more information.
