Installation Instructions
Pre-Installation Review
- Turn the power OFF from the breaker panel before starting installation.
- Locate a suitable location for the fixture and cut the correctly sized hole in the drywall or ceiling tile (for a suspended T-Bar type ceiling) - refer to Hole Cut Out Template for appropriate size.
- Know the location of your joist before making any cuts.
- Run electrical wire from the switch (power supply) through the mounting hole; use NMD90 Romex or Flexible Metal Conduit Cable.
- Use the slide switch to choose a preferred color temperature before installing (2700K, 3000K, 4000K, 5000K, 6500K).
Installation for Recessed Housing
- Ensure the space above the dry wall is at least 6 inches. [Diagram: Shows a ceiling with a 6-inch vertical clearance indicated.]
- Cut a 3-inch hole in the ceiling as round as possible using the template provided and a recessed lighting hole saw. Note: Before cutting, ensure that the hole does not impinge on joists, pipe work, cable or other building services. [Diagram: Shows a hole being cut with a recessed lighting hole saw, with a note about avoiding obstructions.]
- Open the junction box (A) cover and remove the knockout (1) on the side panel. Insert the electrical supply cable through the knockout (1). Using the quick-connect push terminals, connect the green ground wire from the junction box (A) to the ground wire from the supply circuit, the black wire from the junction box (A) to the black wire from the supply circuit, and the white wire from the junction box (A) to the white wire from the supply circuit. Secure the wire in the knockout hole using a cable clamp (not provided). Place all wiring and connections into the junction box (A) and close the cover. Plug the connector cable from the junction box (A) to the connector cable from the light panel (C). [Diagram: Illustrates wiring connections within the junction box (A): green/yellow wire to ground, black wire to hot, white wire to neutral. Shows a cable clamp securing the entry. Also shows the connector cable from the junction box (A) plugging into the light panel (C).]
- Choose the desired trim. If the optional Plaster Trim is desired, follow these steps: Loosen the two side screws and remove the existing trim. Place the Plaster Trim (E) over the fixture and secure in place with the side screws. [Diagram: Shows removing an existing trim and then attaching a plaster trim piece.]
- Insert the junction box (A) through the mounting hole. Push the spring-loaded clips on the light panel (C) upward and insert the light panel base into the mounting hole. Release the clips. The light panel (C) will be pulled flush to the ceiling. For airtight installations, install the foam gasket (B) between the light panel (C) and the ceiling. [Diagram: Shows the light panel (C) being inserted into the ceiling hole, with clips engaging, and a foam gasket (B) being placed for an airtight seal.]
- Restore the power at the breaker panel.
