Introduction
Thank you for purchasing this Daikin air conditioner. Carefully read this operation manual before using the air conditioner. It will tell you how to use the unit properly and help you if any trouble occurs. This manual explains about the indoor unit only. Use it along with the operation manual for the outdoor unit. After reading the manual, file it away for future reference.
Unit Overview
Figure 1 illustrates a cross-section of the indoor unit, showing various components. It indicates that the fan speed can be selected in three stages: High (H), Medium (M), and Low (L).
Safety Precautions
To gain full advantage of the air conditioner's functions and to avoid malfunction due to mishandling, read this instruction manual carefully before use.
This air conditioner is classified under "appliances not accessible to the general public" and must be installed at a minimum height of 8-3/16 ft (2.5m).
Precautions are classified as WARNING (may result in personal injury or loss of life) and CAUTION (may result in property damage or personal injury).
Keep this manual in a convenient place for future reference. If transferring ownership, provide the manual to the new user.
WARNINGS
- Prolonged, direct exposure to cool or warm air can be harmful to health.
- If the unit malfunctions (e.g., burning odor), turn off power and contact your local dealer. Continued operation may lead to failure, electric shocks, or fire.
- Consult your local dealer for installation work to avoid water leakage, electric shocks, or fire.
- Consult your local dealer for modification, repair, and maintenance to avoid improper workmanship issues.
- Do not place objects (rods, fingers) in air inlets or outlets to avoid injury from high-speed fan blades.
- Beware of fire risk from refrigerant leakage. If the unit is not cooling/heating correctly, refrigerant leakage may be the cause. Contact your dealer. If leakage occurs, turn off the unit and call a qualified service person to confirm repair before operation.
- When installing in a small room, take measures to prevent oxygen depletion due to refrigerant leakage.
- Consult your local dealer for relocation and reinstallation to prevent leakage, electric shocks, or fire.
- Use fuses with the correct ampere reading. Improper fuses or wiring can cause electric shocks, fire, injury, or damage.
- Ensure the unit is properly grounded. Do not ground to utility piping, lightning conductors, or telephone ground leads.
- Install a ground fault circuit interrupter to prevent electric shocks or fire.
- If the unit submerges due to natural disaster (flood, typhoon), do not operate it to avoid malfunction, electric shocks, or fire.
- Start or stop the unit using the remote controller only, not the power circuit breaker, to prevent fire or water leakage.
- Do not use the unit in atmospheres contaminated with oil vapor (cooking oil, machine oil) as it can cause cracks, electric shocks, or fire.
- Do not use in places with excessive oily smoke, flammable gas, corrosive gas, or metal dust, as this may cause fire or unit failures.
- Use a dedicated power supply for the air conditioner.
CAUTIONS
- Do not use the air conditioner for purposes other than intended (e.g., cooling precision instruments, food, plants, art).
- Do not remove the outdoor unit's fan guard, which protects against the high-speed fan.
- Do not place moisture-susceptible objects directly beneath the indoor or outdoor units, as condensation may cause dripping or failure.
- Ensure adequate room ventilation if using equipment like a burner with the air conditioner to avoid oxygen deficiency.
- Check the unit stand and mounts for damage after prolonged use; damaged units may fall and cause injury.
- Do not operate with wet hands to avoid electric shocks.
- Do not place appliances with naked flames in the airflow path, as it may impair burner combustion.
- Do not place heaters directly below the indoor unit, as heat can cause deformation.
- Prevent children, plants, or animals from direct exposure to airflow, as adverse effects may occur.
- Do not install where flammable gas leakage is possible, as gas buildup can cause fire.
- Arrange the drain to ensure complete drainage. Blocked drain pipes can cause water leakage. Stop operation and consult your dealer if leakage occurs.
- Do not sit, stand, or place objects on the outdoor unit to prevent injury from falling.
- The appliance is not intended for use by unattended children or persons incompetent to operate it.
- Supervise children to prevent them from playing with the indoor unit or remote controller. Accidental operation can cause injury.
- Do not let children play on or around the outdoor unit; careless contact can cause injury.
- To avoid injury, do not touch the air inlet or aluminum fins.
- Do not place objects near the outdoor unit or let debris accumulate around it, as this can attract small animals that may cause malfunctions or fire.
- Do not block air inlets or outlets, as impaired airflow reduces performance.
- Never touch internal parts of the control box or remove the front panel. This can cause electric shocks and damage the remote controller. Consult your dealer for checks and adjustments.
- Do not leave the remote controller where it may get wet, as this risks electrical leakage and component damage.
- Do not place burners or heaters in the unit's airflow path.
- Do not place water containers on the indoor unit, as this may cause electric shocks or fire.
- Turn off the main power switch when the unit is not in use for extended periods. Leaving it on consumes standby power. Turn it on 6 hours before resuming operation for smooth running.
- Ensure the drain hose provides smooth drainage to prevent wetting of buildings or furniture.
- Keep the remote controller out of direct sunlight to prevent LCD display discoloration.
- Never operate remote controller buttons with hard, pointed objects.
- Do not pull or twist the remote controller cord.
- Exercise caution when working at heights or with scaffolding.
- Do not operate with the control panel lid open. Water ingress can cause equipment failure or electric shock.
- Do not operate the unit when using room fumigation insecticides, as deposited chemicals can be harmful to sensitive individuals.
Installation Site
Ensure the air conditioner is installed in a well-ventilated place with no obstacles.
Do not use in the following locations:
- Areas with mineral salt mist (e.g., cutting oil).
- Salty areas (e.g., beaches).
- Areas with sulfurous gas (e.g., hot springs).
- Areas with significant voltage fluctuations (e.g., factories).
- Vehicles and vessels.
- Kitchens where oil may splatter or steam is present.
- Areas with machines generating electromagnetic waves.
- Areas with acid or alkaline steam/vapor.
Consider snow protection measures if applicable; consult your dealer.
Wiring
All wiring must be performed by a qualified professional. Consult your local dealer for wiring. Ensure a separate power supply circuit is provided and all electrical work complies with local laws and regulations.
Running Noise
Select a location that can sufficiently withstand the unit's weight and minimize noise and vibrations. Ensure discharged hot wind and operating noise do not disturb neighbors. Check for obstacles near the outdoor unit's air outlet, as they can reduce performance and increase noise. If abnormal noises occur, stop operation and consult your dealer.
Drainage
Ensure the drain piping allows for complete drainage. Improper drainage can lead to dirt/debris accumulation and water leakage. If leakage occurs, stop operation and consult your dealer.
System Relocation
Consult your Daikin dealer for remodeling and relocation services.

Maintenance
Only qualified personnel should perform maintenance, except daily tasks.
WARNINGS
- Turn off all power switches before touching wiring.
- Do not use flammable materials (hairspray, insecticide) or organic solvents (paint thinner) near the product, as they can cause damage, electric shocks, or fire.
- Use only manufacturer-specified accessories for installation. Improper workmanship can lead to leaks, shocks, or fire.
- Consult your dealer for interior cleaning. Improper cleaning can cause breakage, leaks, or electric shocks.
CAUTIONS
- Stop unit operation and turn off power/unplug before cleaning to avoid electric shock or injury.
- Do not wash the unit with water; it can cause electric shocks or fire.
- Be careful when cleaning/inspecting the air filter, especially when working at heights.
- Turn off the main power switch when the unit is not used for extended periods.
How to Clean the Air Filter
Clean the air filter when the display shows "TIME TO CLEAN AIR FILTER". Increase cleaning frequency in highly contaminated environments.
NOTE
- Do not remove the filter except for cleaning.
- Do not attach non-genuine items (like kitchen paper) to the suction. This degrades performance and may cause icing or water leakage.
- For filter cleaning, consider a professional contractor.
- Clean the filter at the start of the cooling or heating season. Clogged filters reduce airflow and performance.
- Press the FILTER SIGN RESET button on the remote controller to clear the "TIME TO CLEAN AIR FILTER" message. Refer to the outdoor unit manual for details.
How to Clean Air Outlet and Outside Panels
- Clean with a soft cloth.
- For stubborn stains, use water or a neutral detergent.
NOTE
- Do not use gasoline, benzene, thinner, polishing powder, or liquid insecticide, as they can cause discoloration or warping.
- Do not get the indoor unit wet, as this can cause electric shock or fire.
- Do not use hot water above 122°F (50°C), as it can cause discoloration or deformation.
