IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

CAUTION: RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK. DO NOT OPEN.

Set-up/Operation

PLEASE NOTE: Before connecting to a power supply for the first time, fill the fluid tank with water-based haze fluid and check that the nozzle is clean and unobstructed.

Place the machine on a level surface and fill the fluid tank with water-based haze fluid. Plug the wired remote control into the socket marked REMOTE CONTROL at the rear of the unit. Switch the haze machine on and allow it to preheat for 2 minutes.

Always monitor the haze fluid level. Running the machine with no fluid can cause permanent damage. Do not touch or place anything near the nozzle during operation or preheating, as this can cause serious burns.

It is normal for the haze machine to have a reheating period after dispersing haze. The unit may shut down for a short period to reach operating temperature (572° F). During this time, no haze will be produced. The green light on the remote indicates readiness. If the unit is set to continuous or manual output, automatic dispersal will resume once the operating temperature is reached.

Due to the high operating temperature, it is advised to use the machine in well-ventilated areas and avoid obstructing air vents. Allow the unit to cool down before moving or touching after use to prevent serious burns.

These haze machines are designed for a 110V-60Hz power supply and come with a suitable power plug. Use the same type of fuse as provided.

Rock Haze units feature two remote controls with various functions.

Wired Remote Controls:
  1. Yellow knob (Duration): Controls the duration of haze dispersal (2-20 seconds).
  2. Green knob (Fan speed): Controls fan speed, determining the haze "throw" or travel distance.
  3. Red knob (Output): Controls the amount of haze dispersed.
  4. Yellow button (Timer on/off): Activates/deactivates timer mode. Used with the DURATION knob to set intervals for haze dispersal and rest periods. Rest time equals burst time.
  5. Red button (Continuous Haze): Disperses a continuous stream of haze. The red LED remains on. Toggle again to cease hazing. Use green and red knobs to control throw and output.
  6. Green button (Manual haze): Allows direct control of haze bursts. Press and hold for haze dispersal (green LED on). Release to stop (green LED off). Use green and red knobs to control throw and output.
  7. Yellow LED: Illuminates when the timer is in use.
  8. Red LED: Illuminates and stays lit during continuous haze dispersion.
  9. Green LED: Illuminates and stays lit during manual haze dispersion.
Wireless Remote Controls:

Connect the wireless remote receiver to the port marked WIRELESS REMOTE RECEIVER at the rear of the unit. The receiver has a magnetic backing for secure attachment.

  1. Button A (Manual hazing): Press and hold to disperse haze. Release to stop.
  2. Button B (Manual hazing): Toggle to disperse a continuous stream of haze. Toggle again to cease hazing.
  3. ▲ button: Increases haze output.
  4. ▼ button: Decreases haze output.

The control panel on the rear of the Rock Haze unit allows adjustment of three settings:

  • MODE: Toggles through settings (Fan speed, Haze thickness, DMX settings).
  • ▲/▼ buttons: Adjust parameters for the selected setting.
  • ENTER: Saves adjustments.

DMX OPERATION

Rock Haze units feature 2 channels of DMX controls:

Installation/Mounting

This haze machine must be used in a horizontal position on a level surface or mounted using the provided bracket. The angle of inclination must not exceed 15°.

PLEASE NOTE: For safety, use a suitable hanging clamp and safety cable.

Cleaning

Regular cleaning helps reduce costly replacements and repairs. Clean the machine after every 40 hours of continuous operation or when idle for extended periods. Run a cleaning solution of 80% distilled water and 20% white vinegar through the system to prevent particle accumulation in the heating element.

  1. While the unit is unplugged and cool, unscrew the nozzle and clean out debris with white vinegar and a pipe cleaner, ensuring the hole is unobstructed.
  2. Empty all haze fluid and replace with cleaning solution. Plug in and allow to heat up.
  3. Run until the tank is empty in a well-ventilated area.
  4. Replace the nozzle.
  5. Unplug and wait until cool before refilling with Rockville haze fluid or other water-based haze fluid.
  6. Wipe the exterior with a dry cloth.
  7. Always store the unit dry (no fluid in the tank).

Haze machines are prone to clogging due to fluid consistency and high vaporization temperatures. Proper maintenance ensures reliable use.

Maintenance/Servicing

Do not allow haze fluid to become contaminated. Always replace the cap after use.

There are no user-serviceable parts. Any internal work must be performed by a qualified technician. Removing covers voids the warranty.

Troubleshooting: If experiencing low output, pump noise, or no output, unplug immediately. Check fluid level, hose connection to the tank, external fuse, wired remote connection, wireless remote receiver, and main power supply. Ensure the tank is filled and all components are working. If issues persist after checking, contact Rockville for servicing.

Important Notes

ATTENTION: If the unit is unable to produce haze, do not continue to push the remote control button, as this may cause permanent damage.

CAUTION: This unit can pose a burn danger. Do not obstruct the nozzle. Haze output is very hot; avoid coming within 24″ of the nozzle during operation. The output nozzle becomes very hot (572° F). Keep flammable materials at least 20″ away. Allow the haze machine to cool down before cleaning or servicing.

Never use any fluid other than water-based haze fluid. Never drink haze fluid. If ingested, call a doctor immediately. If haze fluid contacts skin or eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.

Beware of condensation around the nozzle. Consider mounting carefully. Haze machines may sputter small amounts of haze during operation and briefly after being turned off.
