4. Connecting the Headset
To Your PC via USB Port
- Plug your headset to the USB Sound Card, and then to your PC.
- On your PC, right-click on the sound icon in the system tray and select 'Open Sound settings'.
- In the Sounds window, set Razer USB Sound Card as the default Output and Input device.
To Other Devices via USB Port
Plug your Razer BlackShark V2 to the Razer USB Sound Card*, and then to your device. Ensure the Razer USB Sound Card is set as the default input and output device.
*Compatible with PC / Mac / Switch / PS4.
To Devices via 3.5mm Combo Port
If your device has a 3.5mm audio + mic combined port, simply plug the 3.5mm audio + mic connector from your headset to your device's audio port.
5. Using the Razer BlackShark V2
Using the Microphone
Plug the Razer™ HyperClear Cardioid Mic into the headphone. Bend it until it is parallel to your mouth, ensuring the mic diaphragm is in front and the air vent faces away from your mouth.
Muting / Unmuting the Microphone
Press the mic mute button to mute or unmute the microphone.
Adjusting the Volume
Rotate the volume control knob to increase or decrease the volume.
Extending Your Headset's Lifespan
Gently stretch the headset apart before placing them over your head to minimize headband stress. Avoid overstretching the headset beyond its technical limits.
Activate THX Spatial Audio
Unleash the full potential of your Razer BlackShark V2 by enabling 360° positional audio for a natural and lifelike experience through Razer Synapse.
6. Configuring Your Razer USB Sound Card
Note: An internet connection is required for installation, updates, and cloud-based features. Registering for a Razer ID account is recommended but optional. Features are subject to change based on software version and connected devices.
Synapse Tab
The Synapse tab is your default tab upon launching Razer Synapse, allowing navigation to the Dashboard subtab. The Dashboard provides an overview of your Razer Synapse, granting access to all Razer devices, modules, and online services.
Modules
The Modules subtab displays all installed and available modules for installation. Available modules include:
- Alexa: Integrates Alexa Voice Service with Chroma enabled devices. Requires an active microphone and Amazon Alexa account.
- Chroma Connect: Controls Chroma enabled apps and third-party hardware. Prioritize games and sync other RGB devices with Razer Chroma.
- Chroma Studio: Create advanced Razer Chroma™ lighting effects synchronized across devices. Manage Chroma enabled games and programs.
- Chroma Visualizer: Syncs Chroma enabled devices and smart lights with media for an immersive experience.
- Hue: Syncs Razer Chroma enabled devices with your Hue Bridge for an enhanced gaming experience.
- Macro: Create powerful macros for games, executing complex button presses with a single press.
Global Shortcuts
Bind operations or Razer Synapse functions to custom key-combinations from any Razer Synapse-enabled device inputs, which apply across all device profiles. Only Razer Synapse-enabled device inputs will be recognized.
Audio Tab
Ensure THX Spatial Audio is selected as your default playback or output device via the Sound icon on the system tray. The Audio tab allows customization of your device's settings.
- Sound: Adjust system volume or individual application volumes, change the default fallback device, and access Windows Sound properties.
- Mixer: Enable or disable THX Spatial Audio and calibrate audio positioning of virtual speakers.
- Enhancement: Customize incoming audio settings and frequency response. Options include Bass Boost, Sound Normalization, and Voice Clarity. The Audio Equalizer allows selection of presets for different experiences (balance, gaming, movie, music) or custom settings.
- Mic: Change settings for outgoing mic audio. Control mic volume, mic boost, voice gate, and apply enhancements like Volume Normalization, Vocal Clarity, and Ambient Noise Reduction. The Mic Equalizer offers presets for mic needs, and Mic Monitoring (Sidetone) allows monitoring of raw audio input through the headset.
Profiles Tab
Manage profiles and link them to games and applications. View linked devices and Chroma Effects. Import profiles from your computer or the cloud, or create new ones. Profiles can be set to automatically activate when an application is launched.
Linked Games
Add games, view linked devices, and sort games by alphabetical order, last played, or most played. Link games to Razer devices or Chroma Effects by selecting a device and profile to launch automatically during gameplay.
Settings Window
Configure start-up behavior, display language, and view master guides for connected devices. Perform factory resets on connected devices.
- General tab: Change display language, start-up behavior, theme, and notifications. Sync profiles to the cloud or view master guides.
- Reset tab: Perform a factory reset on devices or reset Synapse tutorials. Note: Resetting a Razer device erases all stored profiles.
- About tab: View software information, copyright statements, and links for terms of use. Check for software updates and access Razer's social communities.
7. Safety and Maintenance
Safety Guidelines
- If troubleshooting fails, unplug the device and contact Razer support at support.razer.com.
- Do not disassemble the device or operate under abnormal current loads, as this may void the warranty.
- Keep the device away from liquid, humidity, or moisture. Operate within the temperature range of 0°C (32°F) to 40°C (104°F).
- The device isolates external ambient sounds, potentially lowering awareness of surroundings. Remove the device when active awareness is required.
- Listening to excessively loud volumes can damage hearing. Adhere to recommended sound levels (e.g., 86db for 8 hours a day) and use comfortable volume settings for prolonged listening.
Maintenance and Use
Perform monthly maintenance by unplugging the device and cleaning each component with a soft cloth or cotton swab to prevent dirt buildup. Do not use soap or harsh cleaning agents.
