Product Overview

This document provides instructions for operating the De'Longhi Magnifica S Smart bean-to-cup espresso and cappuccino machine. The machine is designed to prepare various coffee beverages, including espresso and cappuccino.

Key Components:

• Control Panel (B): Features buttons for selecting coffee types (Espresso, 2x Espresso, Coffee), a rotary knob for grind adjustment (B6), and power/function buttons (B7, B8).
• Dispensing Spouts (A11, A12): Adjustable spouts for dispensing coffee.
• Drip Tray (A13, A14): Collects drips and grounds.
• Water Tank (A4): Removable tank for water.
• Bean Container (A3): Holds coffee beans.
• Milk Frother/Steam Wand (A22): For frothing milk for cappuccinos.
• Pre-ground Coffee Funnel (A18): For using pre-ground coffee.

Getting Started

1. Initial Setup: Ensure all packaging is removed. Connect the power cord.
2. Water Tank: Fill the water tank (A4) with fresh, cold water (minimum 0.5 L).
3. Bean Container: Fill the bean container (A3) with coffee beans.
4. Grind Adjustment: Adjust the grinder setting using the knob (B6) from Min to Max. Start with a medium setting.
5. Power On: Press the power button (B7). The machine will perform a rinse cycle.

Making Coffee

1. Place Cup: Place a cup under the dispensing spouts (A11, A12).
2. Select Coffee: Press the desired coffee button (Espresso, 2x Espresso, Coffee).
3. Customize: For longer drinks, select 'Long' (B9*). For a double shot with more aroma, select 'Doppio+' (B9*).
4. Start Brewing: The machine will grind the beans and brew the coffee.

Making Cappuccino/Hot Milk

1. Prepare Milk: Pour cold milk into a milk jug.
2. Attach Frother: Attach the steam wand (A22) to the machine.
3. Froth Milk: Insert the steam wand into the milk and activate the steam function. Move the jug to froth the milk until the desired consistency is reached.
4. Clean Wand: Immediately after use, clean the steam wand with a damp cloth and run steam through it briefly to clear any residue.

Maintenance and Cleaning

• Drip Tray: Empty and clean the drip tray (A13, A14) regularly.
• Brew Group: Remove and rinse the brew group (located inside the machine after opening the side panel) weekly.
• Descaling: Descale the machine regularly using De'Longhi descaler (C3) according to the instructions provided with the descaler. The machine may indicate when descaling is required.
• Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
