Installation Steps
NOTE: THIS PRODUCT CAN ONLY BE INSTALLED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE.
STEP 1
Pull on the spring clip and remove the tailgate cable. Use a Torx T50 socket to remove the cable bolt.

STEP 2
Install the bolt removed from the previous step, through the hole in the ball mount plate, and back into the hole. Tighten the bolt with the T50 socket.

STEP 3
Install the cable back onto the cable bolt.

STEP 4
Install the bolt through the hole in the lower ball mount and thread the bolt into the tailgate fastener. The notches must be towards the lower ball mount.

STEP 5
Align the tailgate fastener with the slot in the tailgate. Insert the tailgate fastener into the slot. Rotate the bolt 90° to align tailgate fastener notches with edges of the slot. Pull out on lower ball mount plate to engage tailgate fastener into slot. While pulling out on the lower mount plate, tighten bolt with a 5mm allen wrench.

STEP 6
After lower ball mount is attached, install the small end of the shock to the ball mount.

STEP 7
Install the larger end of the shock to the ball mount plate.

STEP 8
The bottle opener on the driver's side of the tailgate must be removed. Using a T30 torx bit, remove the two screws attaching the bottle opener. If the bottle opener is not removed, it will interfere with the shock and prevent the tailgate from closing.

The three-year warranty applies only to the original purchaser of new product(s) and is limited to the replacement of genuine Dee Zee products. Modification of any kind to Dee Zee products voids all warranty coverage. Warranty does not include electrical components, installation, cost of removal, labor, transportation costs, loss of use, inconvenience, or consequential damages.
Damage resulting outside of normal use such as road hazards (gravel, debris), product misuse, improper installation, impairments from accidents, product modifications, improper repairs, spills, vandalism, product neglect, lack of maintenance, not following cleaning instructions, or acts of God are not covered under this warranty agreement.
Buyer assumes all risk, liability, and cost for the installation and use of Dee Zee products. Dee Zee, Inc. assumes no liability for injury, loss, incidental or consequential damages in the event of an accident.
Warranty Submission Procedure: All warranty claims will be initiated at the place of purchase. The original purchaser will be required to present the original sales receipt with purchase date shown and provide photographs of the defect. All warranty replacement requests must be submitted via email to returns@deezee.com.
In the event the originally purchased product style is no longer available, Dee Zee will warranty the defective part with a current equivalent. If a comparable product is no longer available, the product would be returned to the store of purchase for a refund or the applicable cost difference can be paid to choose an alternate style.
