Compatibility

The HomeWorks QS Palladiom HVAC controller is compatible with residential HVAC systems including:

Mounting

HomeWorks QS Palladiom Thermostat

  • Mount on a clean, dry, interior wall.
  • Mount approximately 4 ft to 5 ft (1.2 m to 1.5 m) above the floor.
  • Mount on a wall without pipes, chimneys, or ducts.
  • Mount on a wall with good visibility and control access.
  • Do not mount on an exterior wall, near windows, doors, or areas with drafts.
  • Do not mount in direct airflow from supply and return registers/grilles.
  • Do not expose to water or mount in a damp area.
  • Do not mount within 4 ft (1.2 m) of heating sources (e.g., direct sunlight, light bulbs).
  • Do not mount in areas with poor circulation (e.g., niches, alcoves, behind curtains or doors).
  • Do not mount within 0.75 in (19 mm) of Palladiom keypads.

Note: If guidelines cannot be followed, an indoor remote temperature sensor is recommended.

HomeWorks QS Palladiom HVAC Controller

Must be installed in a listed NEMA Type-1 or IP20 rated enclosure conforming to IEC 61439-3. Enclosure must meet minimum clearance requirements and be secured by a keyed or tooled locking mechanism. Metal enclosures are recommended for improved electromagnetic immunity. Preferred installation is DIN rail mounting (requires a 4 DIN wide location).

Acceptable DIN Rail Dimensions: 0.59 in (15 mm) width, 0.04 in (1 mm) height, 0.22 in (5.5 mm) depth, 1.38 in (35 mm) length, 0.06 in (1.5 mm) width, 0.28 in (7 mm) width, 0.04 in (1 mm) height, 0.06 in (1.5 mm) width.

Minimum Clearances: 0.8 in (20 mm) on all sides.

Wiring

QS Link

  • Use IEC SELV/NEC Class 2 (24-36 V===) wiring for thermostat to QS link connection.
  • Connect two 22 AWG (0.5 mm²) shielded, twisted pair wires to terminals 3 and 4. Connect shielding (drain) together, but not to earth/ground or the thermostat.
  • Connect appropriate size wires to terminals 1 and 2 for power, based on link length.
  • Connect Drain/Shield as shown; do not connect to Ground (Earth) or the thermostat.

QS Link Wire Sizes

  • < 500 ft (153 m): Power: 1 pair 18 AWG (1.0 mm²); Data: 1 twisted, shielded pair 22 AWG (0.5 mm²).
  • 500 ft to 2000 ft (153 m to 610 m): Power: 1 pair 12 AWG (4.0 mm²); Data: 1 twisted, shielded pair 22 AWG (0.5 mm²).

HomeWorks QS Palladiom HVAC Controller Link

  • The controller comes with a 3-wire harness (LR-HVAC-WIRE-120).
  • The 3-wire harness can be extended up to 500 ft (153 m) using one 18 AWG (1.0 mm²) and 1 pair 22 AWG (0.5 mm²) twisted, shielded wire.
  • Do not connect the drain/shield wire to earth/ground or the thermostat.

Remote Temperature Sensor

If recommended mounting guidelines for the thermostat cannot be followed, an indoor remote temperature sensor (LR-TEMP-FLSH) is recommended for proper temperature control. The remote sensor must be enabled through advanced programming via the thermostat. A maximum of one remote temperature sensor can be used per HVAC Controller, which will disable the internal thermostat sensor.

  • Wired Flush Mount Sensor: Flush mount on wall, field paintable.
  • Wiring: Use 22 AWG (0.5 mm²) twisted, shielded pair wiring. Maximum wire length: 100 ft (30.5 m).
  • Mounting: Mount on wall approximately 4 ft to 5 ft (1.2 m to 1.5 m) above the floor.
