Operation

Turning the speaker on

Turn the speaker on by pressing button 9 on the top of the device until you hear a series of tones. The [Status LED] 8 will flash blue at 2-second intervals.

Connecting the device via [Bluetooth]

After searching for several seconds, if no most recently connected audio output device is found, a short alert tone will sound and the speaker will automatically switch into pairing mode, which enables the connection of a new audio output device. The [Status LED] will rapidly flash blue.

Turn on [Bluetooth] on your audio output device and start the search for [Bluetooth] devices nearby.

Select the speaker "MD 43989" from the device list on your audio output device and pair the devices with each other.

If a connection password is requested, enter "0000".

When pairing is successful, a short alert tone will sound on the speaker, and the [Status LED] will flash blue once after 4 seconds and then at 2-second intervals. The devices are now connected to each other and you can start playing audio.

Reconnect mode

After it turns on, the speaker will be in reconnect mode and will search for the most recently connected audio output device. If possible, the speaker establishes this connection automatically.

Turn on [Bluetooth] on the audio output device if you would like it connected to the speaker again.

During the search, the [Status LED] flashes blue at 5-second intervals.

When the connection is established, a short alert tone will sound on the speaker, and the [Status LED] will flash blue once after 4 seconds and then at 2-second intervals. The devices are now connected to each other and you can start playing audio.

Changing from connected mode to pairing mode

Even if an active connection to an audio output device already exists, it is possible to connect another audio output device to the speaker without needing to turn the speaker off.

To change from connected mode to pairing mode, keep button 5 pressed until you hear an alert tone. The [Status LED] will rapidly flash blue.

Now connect the devices as described in the "Pairing mode" section.

Turning the device off

Turn the speaker off by pressing and holding button 9 on the top of the device until you hear a series of tones. The [Status LED] will go out and the [Bluetooth] connection to a connected audio output device will be automatically terminated.

Playback controls

Audio playback can be controlled from both the audio output device and the speaker.

Pause/resume playback

Play next/previous audio file

Increase/reduce volume

When the minimum or maximum volume setting is reached, a series of tones will sound on the speaker.

Call function via the speaker

If the speaker is connected to your smartphone, various call functions are available using the speaker:

Incoming calls

If there is an incoming call, the ring tone of your smartphone plays through the speaker and audio playback is automatically paused.

You will now hear the caller through the speaker and can conduct the phone call through the integrated microphone 2. Speak into the microphone at a distance of approx. 30–60 cm to obtain the best speech quality.

Call last number dialled

If there is a last phone number dialled in the call history of your smartphone, it is possible to call that number again through the speaker.

Connecting several speakers to each other (pairing function)

It is possible to connect two or more [Bluetooth] speakers and an audio output device with each other. To activate the pairing function, proceed as follows:

The [Status LED] on the host device speaker will rapidly flash blue and will be ready for pairing with an audio output device.

Now pair the host device speaker with the audio output device as described in the "Pairing mode" section.

The paired speakers will not be listed separately on the device list on your audio output device, since they are already connected to the host device speaker.

After successful pairing, an alert tone will sound on all paired speakers, and the [Status LED] will flash blue once after 4 seconds and then at 2-second intervals. The devices are now connected to each other and you can start playing audio.

Deactivating the pairing function

The pairing function will remain active until you deactivate it again. To do this, proceed as follows:

The pairing function is now deactivated and you can use the speakers separately again.

Alternatively, you can deactivate the pairing function by turning the speaker off and then on again.

Reset

If at any time your speaker does not function correctly, reset the device software as follows:

The speaker will reset the device software and turn itself off.

You can now turn your speaker on and use it as usual.

Cleaning

[NOTICE!] Risk of damage!! There is a risk of damaging the device if it is cleaned incorrectly.

If necessary, place a non-slip underlay beneath the speaker.

Storing the device when not in use

Perform a complete charging cycle once a month. This prevents the battery from completely discharging, which may permanently damage it.
