Sonik HEROX Bite Alarm System User Manual

Welcome and congratulations on your purchase of the Sonik® HEROX® bite alarm system. We are sure that it will provide you with many years of faithful service in your angling. Please take a few moments to read this manual. The advice it contains will enable you to get the very best performance from this system.

Getting Started

Battery Fitting/Replacement

Remove the battery compartment cover by sliding it carefully down to remove it from the casing. Insert 2 x AAA 1.5V batteries noting the polarity shown on the inside of the battery compartment. Alarm speaker will sound and LED's flash when batteries are fitted correctly. Replace the battery cover ensuring that it closes positively into place.

Switching On/Off

To turn the alarm on, press and hold the [V/O Button]; speaker will sound a short tone. To turn the alarm off, press and hold the [V/O Button]; speaker will sound a long tone.

Volume Control

To increase the volume, briefly press and release the [V/O Button]; it will cycle through the 8 volume settings. The speaker will sound the volume level selected. The lowest volume setting is silent.

Tone Control

To change the tone, briefly press and release the [T/M Button]; it will cycle through the 8 tone settings available. The speaker will sound the tone selected. The Tone selected will be automatically replicated on the HEROX® receiver.

Sensitivity Control

To change the sensitivity, briefly press and release the [S/N Button]; it will cycle through the 8 sensitivity settings available. The speaker will sound 1-8 times to confirm selection. Sensitivity setting 1 is the highest setting and the alarm will trigger with only 2.5mm of line movement.

Intelligent Mute Mode

Press and hold the [T/M Button] to enter mute mode. LED's will flash and the alarm will be muted for 30 seconds. After which the alarm will automatically re-arm. Press and hold the [T/M Button] at any time during the 30 seconds to exit mute mode. This mode is perfect for re-setting alarms and indicators quickly and silently.

Night Glow LED

To activate the night glow LED, press and hold the [S/N Button]. The speaker will sound and the front night glow LED will illuminate purple on a low brightness setting. Press and hold the [S/N Button] to deactivate.

Extension Out Socket

Located on the underside of the alarm this is compatible with most illuminated indicators with 2.5mm jack plug connection.

Functions in Use

When a forwards indication is detected both LED's will illuminate, latching for 20 seconds and the speaker will sound. When backwards indication is detected, the LED's will illuminate flashing, latching for 20 seconds and the speaker will sound a higher double tone.

Low Battery Warning

When a low battery voltage is detected the LED's will flash quickly 5-times once every 10 minutes to signal a low battery. Battery should be replaced within 24hrs.

Care of Your HEROX® Alarm System

HEROX® alarms have been designed to be weather proof. However it is important that after use in extreme wet conditions the unit be allowed to dry out indoors.

Notes

  • Maximum battery voltage should never exceed 3V or damage to electronic components is possible.
  • Each main receiver will only respond to paired transmitters.
  • To conserve battery, power off when not in use. Remove batteries when not in use for extended period.
  • Use of good quality alkaline batteries is recommended for best performance.

Getting Started

Battery Fitting/Replacement

Switching On/Off

To turn the receiver on, press and hold the [On/Off Button]; LEDs will flash multi-colour in sequence. To turn the alarm off, press and hold the [On/Off Button]; LEDs will all flash together and speaker sounds a low tone.

Volume Control

To increase the volume, press the [V-button]; it will cycle through the 8 volume settings. The speaker will sound the volume level selected. The lowest volume setting is silent.

Vibration Control

To turn on vibration feature. Press the [Vibration Button]. The receiver will vibrate to confirm mode selection. To turn off vibration feature, Press the [Vibration Button].

Torch Function

To activate the white torch LED, short press the [On/Off Button] whilst the receiver is on. The receiver speaker will sound. To exit torch mode short press the [On/Off Button].

Functions in Use

When activated the HEROX® receiver will replicate the alarm speaker activation and tone. The channel LED activated will remain latched on for 20 seconds. When drop back indication is detected the channel LED activated will illuminate flashing, latching for 20 seconds and the speaker will sound a higher double tone. The receiver will remember its channel, volume and mode setting even if the battery is disconnected or removed.

Low Battery Warning

When a low voltage is detected the channel four LED will flash quickly 5-times, once every ten minutes. Battery should be replaced within 24hrs.

Synchronization

Please note that your alarms should come pre-registered to the receiver. However, if you would like to change the registration order or add alarms to the receiver; follow the steps below.

  1. Ensure all alarm heads are switched on.
  2. Switch on the HEROX® receiver.
  3. Hold down both the volume button and vibration button until the first channel LED illuminates.
  4. Short press the volume button to cycle up, short press vibration button to cycle down, through the available channel LEDs.
  5. Once preferred channel LED is illuminated, activate the alarm head that you would like to register to that channel.
  6. Press the volume button to exit registration mode.
  7. Repeat steps 3-6 to register further alarms.
  8. Note, up to four alarms can be registered to each channel LED.

Getting Started

Battery Fitting/Replacement

Press the battery cover release button and slide open the battery cover. Insert carefully 3 x AAA 1.5V batteries noting the polarity shown in the battery compartment. The light will flash multi-colour. Replace the battery compartment cover ensuring that it closes positively into place.

Switching On/Off

To turn the bivvy light on, press and hold the [On/Off Button] for 3 seconds; the centre LED will flash multi-colour. The bivvy light is now in standby mode. To turn the light off, in standby mode, press and hold the [On/Off Button] for 3 seconds, the centre LED will flash white once.

LED Illumination

The bivvy light can also be used as a standard light. In standby mode, turn on by pressing the [LED On/Off Button]. Press this button again to cycle through the three brightness levels, Low-Medium-High-Off.

Functions in Use

When activated the HEROX® Bivvy Light will illuminate, latching for 20 seconds. This can be cancelled at any time during the 20 seconds by a quick press of either on/off button. Each alarm can be synced to the centre multi-colour LED. There are six colour channels, (red, green, blue, orange, purple, white). Up to four different alarms can be synced to the same colour channel. After activation, the light will return to standby mode. The light will remember its channel and sync information even if the battery is disconnected or removed.

The back of the light is equipped with a magnetic bivvy attachment point. Simply place the metal plate on the outside of the bivvy canopy and use the integral magnet to attach the bivvy light to it. There is also an integral elastic hanging loop. This can also be used to wrap around banksticks or bivvy poles for extra location options.

Syncing Bivvy Light to Alarms

  1. In standby mode press and hold both the [On/Off Button] and [LED On/Off Button] together until the red LED illuminates.
  2. Now press the [On/Off Button] to cycle through the available colour channels.
  3. Once preferred colour channel LED is illuminated, activate the alarm head that you would like to register to that channel.
  4. Once registered, the white LEDs will also illuminate.
  5. To exit registration mode, wait 20 seconds or press the [On/Off Button].
  6. Repeat steps 1-5 to register further alarm heads.
  7. Note, up to four alarms can be registered to each bivvy light colour channel.

Low Battery Warning

The HEROX® Bivvy Light will auto detect the battery voltage in standby mode. When a low voltage is detected the centre LED will flash red until the batteries are changed.

Notes

  • The Alarm sync feature of this bivvy light is compatible only with other selected Sonik bite alarms.
  • Each main receiver will only respond to paired transmitters.
  • To save battery life; the light should be powered off when not in use. Please remove the batteries when unit is not being used for extended periods of time.
  • Use of good quality alkaline batteries is recommended for best performance.

Warnings and Care

Warnings

[Warning Symbol] Do not trigger LED or speaker in close proximity to human or animal eyes and ears. Please store your Sonik HEROX® Alarm system and all components out of reach of children. Avoid dropping or subjecting your HEROX® equipment to impacts.

Drying Out After Use

All Sonik® HEROX® electronics have been designed to be weatherproof. However, after use in heavy rain, it is important to allow the units to dry out properly indoors; removing any protective covers. NEVER expose batteries to a hot environment (for example on a radiator).
