ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS 7 Apply the same procedure for other legs. 8 Clean and dry the roof of the car. 9 The th cker s de of the crossbar should face the front s de of the car, wh le the s de w th rubber should face upwards. The "L" letter on the plast c part means that t should be assembled on the left, wh le the "R" letter means that t should be assembled on the r ght. 4 www.erkulauto.com ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS 10 Wh le the doors of the car are open, place the crossbars on the roof, by ensur ng that the metal parts settle n the door gap. 11 After plac ng the crossbars, measure the d stance to make sure that they are properly centred. 12 T ghten the upper screws that face each other, unt l they t ghtly settle. 5 www.erkulauto.com ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS 13 T ghten the lower screw n half and then do the same for the oppos te s de. 14 Completely t ghten the f rst lower screw and then do the same for the oppos te s de. 15 Place and lock the covers (D) of both s des. 6 www.erkulauto.com ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS 16 Repeat the steps between 9 and 15 for the second crossbar. 17 18 7 www.erkulauto.com Cut and settle the rubber by ensur ng that t f ts n the groves below. Pay attent on not to leave any empty space and f ll all groves w th rubber by cutt ng su table lengths of p eces. ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS 19 Avo d ng empty spaces w ll m n m se the no se to be felt n the car. 20 To check the equ pment, hold the crossbars f rmly and try to pull and push them backwards, forwards, r ghtwards and leftwards to make sure that they have been properly assembled. X X 8 www.erkulauto.com Carr er Assembly w th Flex ble Rubber When us ng the t-bolt to connect an apparatus on the crossbars, you can l ft the cover on the t p of the crossbar wh le the crossbar s assembled on the car for easy nstallat on. The flex ble nature of the rubber w ll allow you to sl de the t-bolt w thout cutt ng the rubber. Areas of Use 9 www.erkulauto.com SAFETY PRECAUTIONS 1. Make sure that you have all the necessary parts by check ng the assembly nstruct ons. 2. Check and replace any worn or damaged parts regularly. 3. Clean and ma nta n the crossbars regularly, espec ally n w nter months. 4. Keep all parts n a safe place when the equ pment s removed. 5. Rev ew and follow the assembly nstruct ons and recommendat on l st. Complete each step n the recommended order. 6. When the crossbars are nstalled on the car, some sunroofs and/or rad o antennas may not work or they may work w th l m ted funct ons. 7. Ma nta n a d stance of at least 27 nches (700 mm) between the crossbars. 8. When carry ng heavy loads, ma nta n a d stance of at least 23 nches (600 mm) between the crossbars. 9. Make sure the crossbars are securely assembled on the roof, each t me they are assembled. To check whether the crossbars are secure, grasp them f rmly and try to move them forwards and backwards, as well as s deways. If any part of the un t moves, t ghten the assembly screws to el m nate movement. Check regularly that the load bars are secure. 10. Do not exceed the max mum load l m t of 165 lb (75 kg). Th s l m t value may be lower depend ng on the max mum roof load recommended by the car manufacturer. Always ad here to the recommended max mum roof load. 11. When calculat ng the load n relat on to the max mum roof load allowed, add the we ght of the crossbars and all attached parts to the we ght of the load tself. 12. All tems carr ed on the crossbars MUST be securely fastened. Use of elast c ropes s not safe. 13. Surfboards and other long tems must be secured to both the front and rear of the veh cle. 10 www.erkulauto.com SAFETY PRECAUTIONS 14. When carry ng mult ple surfboards, stack them on top of each other rather than s de by s de. 15. The load should not be w der than the w dth of the crossbars and they should be evenly d str buted between the crossbars, w th the lowest poss ble centre of grav ty. 16. Before load ng, remove all loose or removable parts of the load, such as all b cycle ch ld seats, t re pumps, surfboards, etc. 17. When transport ng sk s, place them w th the t ps fac ng the rear of the car. 18. Check that the load s secure after a short d stance and regularly on long dr ves, both at h ghway speeds or on rough roads. T ghten the load secur ng straps when necessary. 19. When transport ng longer tems such as upr ght b kes, the overall he ght of the veh cle would ncrease s gn f cantly. Be careful when enter ng low ce l ng places and park ng areas. 20. When a load s carr ed on the roof, the car's handl ng and brak ng behav our w ll change and t w ll be more suscept ble to cross w nds. 21. The speed of the car should always be adjusted based on the load be ng carr ed and current dr v ng cond t ons such as road type, pavement qual ty, w nd cond t ons, traff c dens ty and relevant speed l m ts. Never exceed 80 MPH (130 km/h) and always observe the speed l m ts and other traff c restr ct ons. 22. Dr ve slowly over bumps, w th a top speed of 6 MPH (10 km/h). 23. Lock all lockable tems dur ng use. 24. Do not make any mod f cat ons on the product n any way. 25. The manufacturer cannot be held respons ble for human or an mal njury, property damage, or f nanc al loss result ng from mproper nstallat on or use of the product.
