LCD Display and Operation Mode

The LCD display shows icons and characters indicating the operation mode, time, and battery status.

Left: Icons and characters indicate the operation mode. For example, the diagram shows Bluetooth SPP mode.

Middle: Time.

Right: Battery status.

Note: During F/W upgrade, the Status LED will be red, and the Communication LED will be green.

Battery Installation

  1. Turn the terminal over and push the battery lock to the right to unlock the battery.
  2. Grasp the two protrusions on both sides of the battery cover and lift upwards to remove it.
  3. Align the two hooks at the bottom of the battery cover with the slots in the battery compartment. Insert and ensure the battery strap is fully covered.
  4. Push down the battery cover and push the battery lock to the left to secure the battery.

Note: Please be careful not to expose the battery strap.

Battery Charging

  1. Connect one end of the USB Type-C cable to the reader's port and the other end to a host PC or power adapter's USB port.
  2. Fully charge the reader before use (or until the Status LED turns off).

Data is temporarily stored in Buffer mode on the reader.

Reading Tags

It is recommended to point the antenna section of the RP902 MFi towards the RFID tag horizontally for reading (see diagram).

Read range may be affected by tag type and environmental conditions.

Read range is up to 1m at 22dBm output power and up to 2m at 27dBm output power.

Starting Up the RP902 MFi:

  1. Briefly press the Power/Trigger key to turn on the RP902 MFi.
  2. When the RP902 MFi is powered on for the first time, the Communication LED will flash green, followed by a flashing blue light indicating it is waiting for Bluetooth connection.
  3. Enable the Bluetooth function on your host device and select "RP902 MFi_0ABB" (the RP902 MFi terminal name) to connect. Once connected, the Communication LED will turn solid blue.

Note: The RP902 MFi supports NFC Quick Pairing.

Disconnecting:

Press and hold the two buttons at the bottom of the RP902 MFi simultaneously (for approximately 3-5 seconds) to disconnect the Bluetooth connection between the host device and the RP902 MFi.

Reading Modes Explained:

Firmware Update

For firmware updates, click on "URL FW Update Instructions" or scan the barcode.

Battery Removal

  1. Turn the terminal over and push the battery lock to the right to release the lock.
  2. Grasp the two protrusions on both sides of the battery cover and lift upwards to remove it.
  3. Pull the battery strap upwards to remove the battery.

Warning! Improper handling of Li-ion batteries can cause fire or burns. Do not disassemble, crush, puncture, short-circuit external contacts, or dispose of in fire or water. Do not attempt to open or repair the battery. Dispose of used batteries according to your local recycling guidelines.

Caution! To ensure normal operation, keep all connectors free from dust, oil, mud, water, and other contaminants. Read this manual carefully for correct product usage. Failure to do so may cause communication failure, short circuits, overheating, etc. If a connector is damaged, ensure it is completely repaired before use to avoid short circuits.
