Installing or Replacing Batteries:
Use high-quality batteries for best performance. Heavy-duty or rechargeable batteries are not recommended. The outdoor sensor requires lithium batteries in low-temperature conditions, as cold can cause alkaline batteries to function improperly. Do not mix old and new batteries, or alkaline, standard, and rechargeable batteries.
Default Settings:
- Default time: 12:00 (12-hour format)
- Default date: 01/01 (Year: 2020, Month/Day format)
- Default week: WED (Language: ENG, 7 languages selectable)
- Weather forecast: Partly Sunny
- Default temperature: Fahrenheit (°F)
- Default alarm: 12:00 AM, default snooze time: 5 minutes.
The LCD display will light up for 10 seconds when a new battery is changed or after resetting. It will then enter the normal state, test temperature, and receive RF signals for 3 minutes.

Placement of the Device:
Proper placement of both the display unit and the outdoor sensor is critical for accuracy and performance.
Display Unit Placement:
Place the display unit in a dry area, free of dirt and dust. It can stand upright for tabletop/countertop use.
Important Placement Guidelines:
- To ensure accurate temperature measurement, place units out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources or vents.
- Display unit and outdoor sensor must be within 200ft (60m) of each other.
- To maximize wireless range, place units away from large metallic items, thick walls, metal surfaces, or other objects that may limit wireless communication.
- To prevent wireless interference, place both units at least 3ft (1m) away from electronic devices (e.g., TV, computer, microwave, radio).
Diagram illustrating wireless range guidelines: Shows a display unit and an outdoor sensor separated by a distance. Text indicates 'AT LEAST 3 feet (0.9 m) APART' from electronic devices like TV, computer, microwave, radio. The maximum wireless range is stated as '200 feet maximum (60 meters)'.
Outdoor Sensor Placement:
- The sensor must be placed outside to measure outdoor conditions. It is water-resistant for general outdoor use but should be protected from direct weather and sunshine. The best location is 4 to 8 feet above the ground in permanent shade with good air circulation.
- Display unit and outdoor sensor must be within 100 feet of each other.
- To maximize wireless range, place units away from large metallic items, thick walls, metal surfaces, or other objects that may limit wireless communications.
- To prevent wireless interference, place both units at least 3 feet away from electronic devices (e.g., TV, computer, microwave).
Outdoor Sensor Function:
Once the display unit is set up and the channel is synchronized, the display unit will begin the registration process, which can take up to 3 minutes. It searches for an RF signal from the outdoor sensor. The outdoor sensor signal strength will be displayed. If signal strength is low or absent, try repositioning the units.
If the RF signal is lost, the outdoor temperature and humidity will flash after 1 hour. After 2 hours without connection, '-- --' will be displayed instead of temperature and humidity.
To manually restart RF registration, press and hold the [CH] button for 3 seconds. The display unit will search for the RF signal for 3 minutes.
Troubleshooting:
Problem | Possible Solution |
---|---|
Outdoor reading is flashing or showing dashes | Flashing indicates wireless interference. The unit can communicate with three external sensors (one included, two optional). 1. Bring both sensor and display indoors, side-by-side. Remove batteries from both. Power the thermometer as described in Getting Started. 2. Set the outdoor sensor's channel selector to 1, 2, or 3. 3. Press the [CH] button on the display unit to select the corresponding channel. 4. The display unit will sequentially select channel 1, 2, 3, and then sequential display. |
No outdoor sensor reception | 1. Reload batteries in both the outdoor sensor and main unit. Refer to the SENSOR SETUP section. 2. Press and hold the [CH] button to receive RF signal. 3. Ensure the channel chosen on the display unit matches the channel on the outdoor sensor. 4. Relocate the main unit and/or outdoor sensor. Units must be within 200ft (60m) of each other. 5. Ensure both units are at least 3ft (1m) away from electronics that may interfere (TV, microwave, computer, radio, etc.). 6. Do not use heavy-duty or rechargeable batteries. The outdoor sensor requires lithium batteries in low temperatures. Cold can affect alkaline battery performance. 7. Do not mix old and new batteries. |
Inaccurate temperature | 1. Ensure both the main unit and sensor are placed out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources or vents. 2. Do not tamper with internal components. 3. Check temperature accuracy specifications: (-40°C ~ -20°C): ±4°C, (-20°C~0°C): ±2°C, (0°C~50°C): ±1°C. |
"HH/LL" display in indoor and/or outdoor temperature | If the temperature is higher than the detection range, HH will display. If lower than the detection range, LL will display. |
