  • Never power the machine via an external switch such as a timer or remote control.
  • If the machine is built-in, the socket must be accessible. If not, the fixed electrical installation requires an all-pole switch installed according to regulations.
  • When setting up the appliance, ensure that the power connection cable is not pinched or damaged.
  • Damaged cord insulation is dangerous. Never let the power cable come into contact with heat sources.

  • Follow the instructions below to avoid contamination of food.
  • If the door is left open for a long time, the temperature increase in the unit's compartments will be significant.
  • Regularly clean surfaces that come into contact with food and the drainage system.
  • Store raw meat and raw fish in suitable containers in the refrigerator so that they do not come into contact with or drip onto other foods.
  • If the refrigerator/freezer is to be left empty for a while, switch off the unit, defrost, clean, and leave the door open to prevent mold formation.
  • Parts made of metal or with a metallic appearance in the unit may contain aluminum. If acidic foods come into contact with aluminum, aluminum ions can be transferred to the food. Do not eat contaminated food.

Damaged Unit

  • A damaged machine or cord is dangerous. Never use a damaged unit. Contact service.
  • Incorrect installations are dangerous.
  • Only specially trained personnel are permitted to repair the machine.
  • The machine must only be repaired with original spare parts.
  • If the appliance's power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, their customer service, or a person with equivalent qualifications to prevent risks.

Preventing Damage

General Precautions

  • The unit can be damaged if you step or stand on the base, drawers, or doors. Do not step or stand on the base, drawers, or doors.
  • Oil and grease contamination can make plastic parts and door seals porous. Keep plastic parts and door seals free of oil and grease.
  • Parts made of metal or with a metallic appearance in the unit may contain aluminum. Aluminum reacts upon contact with acidic foods. Do not store food unpackaged in the unit.

The packaging materials are environmentally friendly and recyclable. Sort and dispose of the individual components correctly.

Saving Energy

By following the instructions, the appliance will consume less energy.

Choosing the Installation Location

  • Protect the unit from direct sunlight.
  • Install the unit with as much distance as possible from heaters, stoves, and other heat sources:
    • Maintain a distance of 30 mm from electric and gas hobs.
    • Maintain a distance of 300 mm from oil and coal stoves.
  • Use a niche depth of 560 mm.
  • Never cover or block the external ventilation grilles.

Saving Energy During Use

Note: The placement of interior fittings does not affect the unit's energy consumption.

  • Only open the unit for a short time.
  • Never cover or block the internal ventilation openings or external ventilation grilles.
  • Transport purchased groceries in a cool bag and place them in the unit quickly.
  • Allow hot food and drinks to cool down before placing them in the unit.
  • Place frozen items in the refrigerator compartment for thawing to utilize the cold from the frozen items.
  • Always leave some space between food items and the back wall.
  • Pack food items airtight.
  • Defrost the freezer compartment regularly.
  • Only open the freezer compartment for a short time and close it properly.

Criteria for Installation Location

⚠️ WARNING! Risk of explosion!!

If the unit is placed in too small a space, a leak in the cooling system can create a flammable gas-air mixture. Install the unit in spaces with a volume of at least 1 m³ per 8 g of cooling agent. The amount of cooling agent is indicated on the rating plate. (See "Unit", Fig. 1/3, page 11).

The unit's weight can be up to 65 kg depending on the model. The base must be sufficiently stable to support the unit's weight.

Permissible Room Temperature

The permissible room temperature depends on the unit's climate class. The climate class is indicated on the rating plate. (See "Unit", Fig. 1/3, page 11).

The unit functions fully within the permissible room temperature range.

If a unit with climate class SN is used at lower room temperatures, no damage to the unit will occur down to room temperatures of 5°C.

Niche Dimensions

Observe the niche dimensions for built-in installation. Deviations can cause problems during unit installation.

Niche Depth

The recommended niche depth for built-in installation is 560 mm. A smaller niche depth will slightly increase energy consumption. The niche depth must be at least 550 mm.

Niche Width

The unit requires a cabinet niche width of at least 560 mm.

Side-by-Side Installation

You must maintain a distance of at least 150 mm when installing two units next to each other.

Mounting the Unit

  • Mount the unit according to the enclosed mounting instructions.

Preparing the Unit for First Use

  1. Remove the information material.
  2. Remove protective films and transport securing devices, e.g., tape and cardboard.
  3. "Clean the unit for the first time." (See page 17).

Connecting the Appliance to Power

  1. Insert the power plug of the power connection into a nearby electrical socket.

Controls

The control elements allow you to set all functions of the appliance and receive information about its operating status.

  1. °C: Sets the refrigerator compartment temperature.
  2. Super: Illuminates when Supercooling is active.
  3. Display: Shows the set refrigerator compartment temperature in °C.
  4. : Turns the unit on and off.

Interior Fittings

The interior fittings vary depending on the model.

Shelves

Remove and reinsert shelves in a different position if necessary. (See "Removing a shelf", page 18).

Fruit and Vegetable Drawer

Store fresh fruit and vegetables in the fruit and vegetable drawer. Depending on the amount stored and the type of food, condensation may form in the fruit and vegetable drawer. Wipe up condensation with a dry cloth.

Store temperature-sensitive fruits and vegetables such as pineapples, bananas, citrus fruits, cucumbers, zucchini, bell peppers, tomatoes, and potatoes outside the unit at temperatures of approximately 8°C to 12°C to preserve quality and taste.

Door Shelves

Remove and reinsert door shelves in different positions if necessary. (See "Removing a door shelf", page 18).

Accessories

Use original accessories. They are adapted to the unit. The accessories for your appliance are model-dependent.

Egg Tray

Place eggs securely on the egg tray.

Cooling Pack

You can use the cooling pack to temporarily chill food items, e.g., in a cool bag. Tip! In case of a power failure or if a fault occurs, the cooling pack will delay the warming of frozen items in the freezer compartment.

Ice Cube Tray

Use the ice cube tray to make ice cubes.

Making Ice Cubes
  1. Fill the ice cube tray with 3/4 water and place it in the freezer compartment.
  2. To loosen frozen ice cube trays, use a blunt object such as a spoon handle.
  3. To release the ice cubes, briefly hold the ice tray under running water or twist it slightly.

Operating Principle

Switching the Unit On

  1. Press the ℹ️ button.
  2. ✅ The unit starts cooling.
  3. "Set the desired temperature." (See page 13).

Operating Instructions

  • It takes several hours for the unit to reach the set temperature after switching it on. Do not place food inside until the temperature has been reached.
  • The housing around the freezer compartment may sometimes become slightly warm. This prevents condensation from forming around the door seal.
  • A vacuum may form when you close the door, making it difficult to open. Wait a moment for the vacuum to equalize.

Switching the Unit Off

  • Press the ℹ️ button.

Setting the Temperature

Setting the Refrigerator Compartment Temperature

  • Press the °C button until the temperature indicator shows the desired temperature.
  • The recommended refrigerator compartment temperature is 4°C. (See "OK decal", page 14).

Setting the Freezer Compartment Temperature

  • Refer to "Changing the refrigerator compartment temperature" (page 13) to set the freezer compartment temperature.
  • The refrigerator compartment temperature affects the freezer compartment temperature. A warmer refrigerator compartment temperature results in a warmer freezer compartment temperature.

Extra Functions

Super Function

The Super function cools the refrigerator and freezer compartments more intensely. Activate the Super function 4 to 6 hours before placing in food quantities of 2 kg or more. Use the Super function to utilize the freezing capacity. (See "Freezing capacity", page 15).

Note: When the Super function is active, the unit may make more noise.

Activating Super Function

  • Press the °C button until 'Super' illuminates.

Note: The unit will revert to normal mode after approximately 60 hours.

Deactivating Super Function

  • Press the °C button.

Refrigerator Compartment

In the refrigerator compartment, you can store meat, sausage, fish, dairy products, eggs, cooked food, and baked goods. The temperature can be set from 2°C to 8°C. The recommended refrigerator compartment temperature is 4°C. (See "OK decal", page 14).

Thanks to the refrigeration, you can store even very delicate foods for short to medium periods. The lower the temperature you choose, the fresher the food will remain.

Tips for Food Storage in the Refrigerator Compartment

  • Only store fresh, flawless food items.
  • Observe the manufacturer's best-before date or expiry date.
  • Store food items well-packaged or covered.
  • Allow hot food and drinks to cool down first.

Refrigerator Compartment Cooling Zones

Air circulation in the refrigerator compartment creates different cooling zones.

Coldest Zone

The coldest zone is between the embossed arrow on the side and the shelf below.

Tip! Store sensitive foods such as fish, sausage, and meat in the coldest zone.

Warmest Zone

The warmest zone is at the top of the door.

Tip! Store durable foods such as hard cheese and butter in the warmest zone. This allows cheese to develop its flavor further, and butter becomes spreadable.

OK Decal

The OK decal allows you to check if the refrigerator compartment has reached a safe temperature interval of +4°C or lower, as recommended for food. The OK decal is not present on all models. If the decal does not show OK, gradually lower the temperature. (See "Setting the refrigerator compartment temperature", page 13).

It can take up to 12 hours for the set temperature to be reached when you switch on the unit.

OK - Correct Setting

Freezer Compartment

In the freezer compartment, you can store frozen food, freeze food, and make ice cubes. The temperature in the freezer compartment depends on the temperature in the refrigerator compartment. Long-term storage of food should be at -18°C or lower. Freezer storage allows you to store even sensitive foods long-term. The low temperature slows down or stops decomposition.

Freezing Capacity

The freezing capacity indicates how much food can be frozen in a given number of hours. Information on freezing capacity is found on the rating plate. (See "Unit", Fig. 1/3, page 11).

Prerequisites for Freezing Capacity

  1. Activate the Super function approximately 24 hours before placing in fresh food. (See "Activating Super Function", page 14).
  2. Start placing food items in the bottom freezer drawer. Food freezes fastest there.

Utilizing the Full Freezer Volume

Learn how to fit the maximum amount of frozen goods into your freezer compartment.

  1. "Remove all interior fittings." (See page 18).
  2. Store food items directly on the shelves and at the bottom of the freezer compartment.

Tips for Food Storage in the Freezer Compartment

  • Place fresh food items in the bottom freezer drawer when freezing large quantities gently.
  • Spread food items evenly in the compartments or freezer drawers.
  • Do not let food items to be frozen come into contact with already frozen food items.
  • Slide the freezer drawer all the way in so that air can circulate freely.

Tips for Freezing Fresh Food

  • Only freeze fresh and flawless food items.
  • Freeze food items in portions.
  • Cooked food items are more suitable than raw, edible food items.
  • Rinse, chop, and blanch vegetables before freezing.
  • Rinse, core, and peel fruits if necessary, and add sugar or ascorbic acid solution.
  • Suitable foods for freezing include, for example, baked goods, fish and seafood, meat, game and poultry, shelled eggs, cheese, butter, quark, ready meals, and leftovers.
  • Unsuitable foods for freezing include, for example, leaf lettuce, radishes, eggs in shell, grapes, red apples and pears, yogurt, sour cream, crème fraîche, and mayonnaise.

Packaging Frozen Foods

The correct packaging material and type will maintain product quality and prevent freezer burn.

  1. Place the food items in the packaging.
  2. Squeeze out the air.
  3. Seal the packaging airtight so that the food items do not lose flavor or dry out.
  4. Label the packaging with the contents and the freezing date.

The printed freezer calendar indicates the longest storage duration in months at a continuous temperature of -18°C.

Thawing Methods for Frozen Foods

❗ CAUTION! Risk of health damage!!

Thawing can lead to bacterial growth that spoils frozen foods. Never refreeze completely or partially thawed frozen foods. Refreeze only after cooking or frying. Do not utilize the maximum storage duration.

  • Thaw animal food items such as fish, meat, cheese, and quark in the refrigerator compartment.
  • Thaw bread at room temperature.
  • Cook the food in a microwave, oven, or on the stovetop and eat immediately.

Defrosting the Refrigerator Compartment

Condensation droplets or frost may form on the back wall of the refrigerator compartment during use. The refrigerator compartment's back wall is self-defrosting. The meltwater runs via the meltwater channel into the evaporation dish, so you do not need to wipe it up. Follow the information below so that the meltwater can drain and to avoid unpleasant odors: (See "Cleaning the meltwater channel and drain hole", page 18).

Thawing in the Freezer Compartment

The freezer compartment has no automatic defrosting. Frost layers in the freezer compartment affect freezing capacity and lead to higher energy consumption.

Defrosting the Freezer Compartment

Defrost the freezer compartment regularly.

  1. Activate the Super function for approximately 4 hours for defrosting. (See "Activating Super Function", page 14). This will bring the food items to a very low temperature and allow them to be stored longer at room temperature.
  2. Remove the freezer drawer with the frozen items and store them in a cool place. Place cooling packs (if you have them) on top of the frozen items.
  3. "Switch off the unit." (See page 13).
  4. Make the unit powerless. Unplug the cord or switch off the fuse in the fuse box.
  5. Speed up defrosting by placing a pot of hot water on a mat inside the freezer compartment.
  6. Wipe up the meltwater with a soft cloth or sponge.
  7. Dry the freezer compartment thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth.
  8. Connect the unit to power.
  9. "Switch on the unit." (See page 13).
  10. Reinsert the freezer drawer with the frozen items.

Cleaning and Care

Preparing the Unit for Cleaning

  1. "Switch off the unit." (See page 13).
  2. Make the unit powerless. Unplug the cord or switch off the fuse in the fuse box.
  3. Remove all food items and store them in a cool place. Place cooling packs on top of the food items if available.
  4. If there is a frost layer, defrost it.
  5. "Remove all interior fittings from the unit." (See page 18).

Cleaning the Unit

⚠️ WARNING! Risk of electric shock!!

  • Risk of shock if moisture penetrates. Do not use steam cleaners or high-pressure washers to clean the appliance.
  • Liquid in the lighting or controls can be dangerous. Rinsing water must not enter the lighting or controls.

ℹ️ OBS!

  • Unsuitable cleaning agents can damage the appliance's surfaces.
    • Do not use hard scouring pads or scrubbing sponges.
    • Do not use strong or abrasive cleaning agents.
    • Do not use cleaning agents with high alcohol content.
  • The evaporation pan can overflow if liquid enters the drain hole. Rinsing water must not enter the drain hole.
  • If you wash interior fittings and accessories in a dishwasher, they may become deformed and discolored. Never wash interior fittings and accessories in a dishwasher.
  1. "Prepare the unit for cleaning." (See page 17).
  2. Clean the unit, interior fittings, and door seals with a dishcloth, lukewarm water, and a little pH-neutral dish soap.
  3. Dry thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth.
  4. Reinsert the interior fittings.
  5. Connect the unit to power.
  6. "Switch on the unit." (See page 13).
  7. Replace the food items.

Cleaning the Meltwater Channel and Drain Hole

Regularly clean the meltwater channel and drain hole so that meltwater can drain. Carefully clean the meltwater channel and drain hole, e.g., with a cotton swab.

Removing Interior Fittings

Remove the interior fittings from the unit so you can clean them thoroughly.

Removing a Shelf

Pull out and remove the shelf.

Removing the Fruit and Vegetable Drawer

  1. Pull the fruit and vegetable drawer out as far as it will go.
  2. Lift the fruit and vegetable drawer at the front and remove it.

Removing the Door Shelf

  • Lift and remove the door shelf.

Removing the Freezer Drawer

  1. Pull the freezer drawer out as far as it will go.
  2. Lift the freezer drawer at the front and remove it.

Troubleshooting

Minor Faults

You can fix minor faults on the unit yourself. Use the information on fault rectification before contacting service. This will save you unnecessary costs.

Storage and Disposal

Power Failure

During a power failure, the temperature in the unit rises. This shortens the storage time and reduces the quality of frozen goods. Stored frozen goods will remain safely chilled for the temperature increase time indicated on the rating plate. (See "Unit", Fig. 1/3, page 11).

Notes

  • Open the unit as little as possible during a power failure and do not add more food.
  • Check the quality of the food items immediately after a power failure.
  • Discard frozen goods that have thawed and are warmer than 5°C.
  • Cook or fry slightly thawed frozen goods and eat or refreeze them.

Performing a Self-Test on the Unit

  1. "Switch off the unit." (See page 13).
  2. "Switch the unit on again after 5 minutes." (See page 13).
  3. Within 10 seconds of switching on, press and hold the °C button for 3 to 5 seconds until 2°C illuminates on the temperature indicator and the unit emits an audible signal.
  4. ✅ The self-test starts when the temperature indicators light up in sequence.
  5. The unit emits an intermittent long audible signal during the self-test.
  6. ✅ If the unit emits an audible signal at the end of the self-test and the temperature indicator shows the set temperature, the unit is OK. The unit will revert to normal mode.
  7. If 'Super' flashes for 10 seconds at the end of the self-test, contact service.

End-of-Life Unit

  1. "Switch off the unit." (See page 13).
  2. Make the unit powerless. Unplug the cord or switch off the fuse in the fuse box.
  3. Remove all food items.
  4. "Defrost the unit." (See page 16).
  5. "Clean the unit." (See page 17).
  6. Leave the door open to ventilate the unit's interior.

Disposal of Used Appliances

Environmentally compatible waste disposal allows valuable raw materials to be reused.

  • Children can lock themselves in the appliance and be exposed to life-threatening danger.
  • To make it more difficult for children to climb in, leave the shelves and drawers in the appliance.
  • Do not let children come near used appliances.

⚠️ WARNING! Risk of fire!!

If the pipes are damaged, flammable cooling agent and hazardous gases can escape and ignite. Do not damage the pipes in the cooling circuit or the insulation. Dispose of the unit in an environmentally friendly manner.

Information on current waste disposal can be obtained from your retailer and local municipality.

This unit is marked in accordance with the European Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). This directive provides the framework for the return and correct recycling of end-of-life units within the EU.

Customer Service

If you have questions, cannot resolve a fault on the appliance yourself, or if the appliance needs repair, contact our customer service. Function-relevant original spare parts according to the applicable ecodesign regulation can be ordered from service for at least 10 years after the machine's launch within the EES.

Note: Customer service actions are free of charge within the scope of the manufacturer's locally applicable warranty conditions. The minimum warranty period (manufacturer's warranty for individual consumers) within the European Economic Area is 2 years according to applicable local warranty conditions. The warranty conditions do not affect other rights and claims that you can invoke according to local legislation.
