Using the Burners
Symbols on the side of the knob indicate the correspondence between the knob and the burner.
Automatic Start-up with Valves
Turn the corresponding knob anticlockwise to the maximum position (large flame) and press the knob. Once the burner is started, keep the knob pressed for about 6 seconds.
ATTENTION: The triple ring (wok) burner switches on only in the maximum flame position.
Using the Burners
To obtain maximum yield without gas waste, ensure the pot diameter is suitable for the burner potential (see table below) to avoid the flame going out (Fig. 2).
Use maximum capacity to quickly heat liquids to boiling temperature, and reduced capacity to heat food or maintain boiling. All operating positions must be between the maximum and minimum ones, not between the minimum position and the closing point.
Gas supply can be interrupted by turning the knob clockwise to the closing position. If there is no power supply, burners can be lit with matches by setting the knob to the start-up point (large flame, Fig. 1).
BURNERS | Power (MJ/h) | Ø of cookware (*) | |
---|---|---|---|
NG | LPG | ||
Auxiliary | 3,4 | 3,4 | 10 - 14 cm |
Semi-rapid | 6,3 | 5,6 | 16 - 18 cm |
Triple crown (wok on 5 burner models) | 18,0 | 15,0 | 24 - 26 cm |

OPERATION ON N.G / S.N.G.
Regulator
An appliance regulator is provided. Position it so the pressure test nipple is accessible. Connect the gas supply to the ½” B.S.P. internal thread inlet of the regulator (Refer page 8 for connection point position).
Regulators are supplied pre-adjusted and configured by the component maker for Natural Gas. The installer is not required to make adjustments to obtain the correct outlet pressure setting.
An arrow on the regulator base indicates gas flow direction. When fitted, check connections for leaks with soapy water.
Gas Connection
This appliance is supplied for Natural Gas but can be converted for LPG. Refer to the LP conversion chapter.
Supply pipe sizing
Total hourly gas consumption is shown on the data label. Required supply pressure for each gas type is also on the data label and in "TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTIC TABLES". Use this information with pipe length, elbows, tees, bends, available service pressure, and other appliances' supply requirements to determine suitable pipe size. Refer to Installation Code AS5601 for assistance.
An AGA certified class B or D flexible connection may be used per AS5601, section 4.8. If a hose assembly is used, it must be suitable for connection to a fixed consumer piping outlet located 800-850mm above the floor, 250mm outside the appliance width. The connection point must be accessible with the appliance installed.
Elbow positioning
The elbow can be repositioned by loosening the locking nut and elbow using two spanners. Re-tighten the assembly. Ensure the sealing washer is fitted when attaching the elbow to the appliance.
Regulator
An appliance regulator is provided. Position it so the pressure test nipple is accessible. Connect gas supply to the ½” B.S.P. internal thread inlet of the regulator (Refer page 10 for connection point position).
Assembly of Regulator
The regulator assembly to the cooktop manifold is via the elbow union and supplied sealing washer. The ½” parallel thread connects to the manifold; the sealing washer is between the manifold end and the elbow's flat face. The ½” tapered thread connects to the regulator outlet, sealed with approved thread sealing tape or compound. The regulator inlet is a ½” parallel thread for consumer piping or hose assembly. Regulators are pre-adjusted for Natural Gas.
An arrow on the regulator base indicates gas flow direction. Check connections for leaks with soapy water.
Checking the gas supply
- Check the manometer zero point is correct.
- Connect the manometer to the cooktop pressure point on the regulator.
- Turn on gas supply and electricity, then try to ignite the gas. NOTE: It will take additional time for gas to light the first time as air needs to be purged from the pipes.
- With the appliance operating, check the outlet pressure:
- when all burners are operating at maximum;
- when the smallest burner is operating at minimum.
If the regulator appears unsatisfactory, check the following points:
- If the outlet pressure is consistently too low, the inlet pressure may be too low, or an upstream regulator/valve may have insufficient flow capacity. Repeat checks measuring both inlet and outlet pressure to determine if inlet pressure is in the range 1.13 - 5kPa.
- Check that the regulator is fitted to the gas supply line in the correct orientation; the arrow on the body base indicates the direction of gas flow.
If the regulator still fails to perform satisfactorily after these checks, it should be replaced.
Electrical connection
The appliance is supplied with a standard 10 Amp service cord terminated by a 3-pin plug for connection to a standard household socket. The electrical supply powers the electronic ignition system.
NOTE: For servicing, the electrical power supply must be disconnected. The power point should be accessible after installation, as per local wiring regulations.
TESTING APPLIANCE OPERATION
After installation, the installer must fully test the appliance and ensure it operates correctly before handing it over to the customer.
GAS CONVERSIONS AND ADJUSTMENTS
Data Label
This appliance is suitable for Natural Gas and Universal LPG; ensure the available gas supply matches the Data Label. When converting from Natural Gas to Universal LPG, remove the NG regulator and replace it with the Test Point Assembly. An AGA Approved gas regulator for a supply pressure of 2.75kPa should be part of the gas tank supply, and the test point pressure should be adjusted to 2.75kPa.
Replacing the injectors
If the equipment is adjusted for a different gas type, replace the burner injectors according to the "technical characteristics" table. Act as follows:
- Remove the racks and burners.
- Using a straight spanner L, unscrew injectors U (Fig. 7 - 7/A) and substitute with the corresponding one. Note: The wok burner on HG75FX-M and HG90FX-M models has three injectors (refer U1 & U2 of Figure 7/A for positions).
- Tighten the injectors strongly.
After changing injectors, eliminate residual natural gas by turning each burner knob to the maximum position, pressing it, and waiting a few seconds.
Adjusting the burners
The lowest flame point must always be properly adjusted and remain on even with an abrupt shift from maximum to minimum position. If not, adjust as follows:
- Start the burner.
- Turn the tap to the minimum position (small flame).
- Remove the knob from the tap rod.
- Introduce a flat-tip screwdriver into hole F (Fig. 8) and turn the by-pass screw for proper adjustment of the lowest flame point.
For triple crown models, the lowest flame point for the external or internal ring can be adjusted by turning the screws indicated in Fig. 8/A. For U-LPG gas burners, the by-pass screw must be tightened completely.
MAINTENANCE
Maintenance Schedule
No regular maintenance is required for the hotplates except cleaning.
Replacing the power supply cable
If the power supply cable needs replacement, use a cable with a section of 3x0.75mm², type H05VV-F or H05RR-F, complying with regulations. Connection to the terminal board must be as shown in Fig. 9 - 9/A: brown cable L (phase), blue cable N (neutral), green-yellow cable (ground).
