Tools and Supplies Needed

Before Starting

1. Add Engine Oil

  1. Unlock and remove the engine service cover to access the oil dipstick.
  2. Remove the oil dipstick.
  3. Using the supplied 4-cycle engine oil and funnel, slowly add engine oil to the engine until full.
  4. Do not overfill. If the oil level is too high, oil will drain out through the fill plug.

2. Add Unleaded Gasoline to the Gas Tank

  1. Unscrew the gas cap on top of the fuel tank.
  2. Slowly add gasoline into the fuel tank.
  3. The gasoline level should NOT be higher than the red maximum fill ring.
  4. Secure the gas cap.

Starting Procedure

  1. Be sure all loads are disconnected from the generator and be sure the ECO mode switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Turn the fuel cap vent knob to the ON position. [Fuel Cap Vent ON]
  3. Turn the engine/fuel control switch to the CHOKE position. [Engine Control Lever: CHOKE]
  4. Firmly grasp and pull the recoil handle slowly until there is increased resistance. At this point, rapidly pull the recoil handle away from the generator.
  5. After the engine starts, turn the engine/fuel control switch to the RUN position. [Engine Control Lever: RUN]
  6. Connect loads to the control panel receptacles.

Shutdown Procedure

  1. Be sure all loads are disconnected from the generator.
  2. Turn the engine/fuel control switch to the OFF position. [Engine Control Lever: OFF]
  3. Turn the vent knob on the fuel cap to the OFF position. [Fuel Cap Vent OFF]

Safety Warnings

DANGER

Using a generator indoors CAN KILL YOU IN MINUTES. Generator exhaust contains carbon monoxide. This is a poison you cannot see or smell.

Avoid other generator hazards. READ MANUAL BEFORE USE.

¹ Change oil every month when operating under heavy load or in high temperatures.

² Clean more often under dirty or dusty conditions.

³ To avoid potential personal injury or damage to the unit, it is recommended that the maintenance task be performed at a Westinghouse approved service center (not covered by warranty).

Engine Oil Specifications

Only use 4-stroke/cycle engine oil. NEVER USE 2-STROKE/CYCLE OIL. Synthetic oil is an acceptable substitute for conventional oil.
