Appearance
Each Deco unit features an LED that changes color based on its status, two RJ-45 Ethernet ports, a power slot, and a Reset button.
LED Status Indicators:
- Pulse Yellow: Deco is resetting.
- Solid Yellow: Deco is starting up.
- Pulse Blue: Deco is ready for setup.
- Solid Blue: Deco is setting up.
- Pulse Green: Deco is upgrading firmware.
- Solid Green: Deco is all set up and connected.
- Pulse Red: The satellite Deco is disconnected from the main Deco.
- Solid Red: Deco has an issue.
Ports and Buttons:
- Ethernet Ports: Used for connecting Deco to your modem, the Ethernet outlet, or other internet services in Wireless Router mode.
- Power Slot: Connects Deco to the power socket via the provided power adapter.
- Reset Button: Press and release within 1 second to reset Deco to factory default settings. A change from pulsing yellow to solid yellow indicates a successful reset.
Set Up Your Deco
To set up your Deco network, download the TP-Link Deco app for iOS or Android and follow the app's instructions.
- Get the Deco app: Scan the QR code or download from Google Play or the App Store. Install on your Android or iOS smartphone or tablet.
- Log in or sign up with TP-Link ID: Open the app and log in. If you don't have a TP-Link ID, create one. Tap 'Forgot Password?' if needed.
- Select your Deco model: Search for your Deco model. If you have multiple models, the app will guide you on maximizing network performance.
- Plug in your Deco: Power off your modem, connect Deco to the modem via Ethernet, and power both on. If no modem, connect directly to the Ethernet outlet.
- Connect to your Deco's Wi-Fi: Connect your phone/tablet to the Deco's Wi-Fi using the default SSID printed on the product label.
- Specify your Deco's location: Select or customize a location for your Deco. This location will be used as the Deco's name.
- Connect your Deco to the internet: Select the internet connection type and enter the required information. Contact your ISP if unsure.
- Create your Wi-Fi network: Set a network name (SSID) and a password (at least 8 characters).
- Connect to your Wi-Fi network: Connect your phone/tablet to the newly created Deco Wi-Fi network.
- Setup complete: Your Deco network is now active. Connect your devices to the Deco network.
- Add more Decos: Plug in additional Deco units; they will automatically join the network within 2 minutes.
