Bagtecs Tail Bag Mounting and Usage Instructions
General Information
Thank you for purchasing a Bagtecs tail bag. Please take sufficient time for proper baggage preparation and carefully read the following product and assembly instructions.
Motea GmbH accepts no liability for material damage or personal injury resulting from improper or defective assembly or use.
This product is a universal luggage item. Therefore, before first use, it is essential to ensure that the tail bag can be used correctly on your motorcycle model.
Observe all instructions in the vehicle manual relevant to fastening and any country-specific restrictions imposed by the legislator.
Technical changes, misprints, and errors are reserved.
Maintenance Instructions
To extend the service life of the luggage, it must be regularly cleaned of dust and dirt. This is particularly important after winter trips to prevent damage from de-icing salt.
Depending on the luggage material, use a soft textile brush, a damp cloth or sponge, and soapy water for cleaning. Avoid harsh detergents or rough cleaning utensils, and do not completely immerse the luggage.
Imitation leather surfaces can be cleaned with special care products and protected against environmental influences to prevent them from becoming brittle.
For cleaning zippers, use curd soap, a soft brush, and a little water for rinsing. A small amount of talcum powder can help with stiff zippers.
Allow the product to air dry completely before reuse. Avoid direct sunlight during this process.
It is recommended to apply a commercial impregnation after cleaning.
Mounting Instructions
The customer must ensure that the baggage is securely and rigidly fastened before each journey. Loosening or shaking in both horizontal and vertical directions must be avoided.
When attaching the tail bag, ensure that all vehicle functions remain unrestricted:
- Avoid contact of the luggage with moving or hot parts in any suspension state.
- Ensure unrestricted visibility of lighting devices and license plates.
- Prevent jamming or rubbing of the fastening straps.
- Ensure even distribution of the weight in the luggage and on the vehicle.
Use the passenger seat or a large and stable luggage rack as a support surface for the tail bag. Attachment is made via fastening straps or elastic straps. These are attached to the bag at one end by click fasteners, D-rings, or loops. Attach the other end of the straps to stable points, such as the footrest bracket, frame, or turn signals, to prevent the straps from coming off unintentionally during riding. Alternatively, the mounting straps can be routed under the seat or looped under the fender. Unstable plastic parts are neither suitable as a support nor as a fastening point for the belts.
The tail bag must be attached in such a way that it cannot be pulled off the rear of the luggage rack or the seat. Ensure that the excess lengths of the belt ends are secured against flapping and cannot get caught in the wheel, drive, or other moving or hot vehicle parts.
Dirt on the vehicle (e.g., sand or dust) can cause a dragging effect. Therefore, clean the contact surfaces of the tail bag before attaching it to prevent damage to the paint or the tail bag. Another protection option is the self-adhesive paint protection film from the Motea portfolio.
Avoid packing sharp-edged, pointed, or similar objects, or secure them appropriately to prevent damage to the luggage, motorcycle, and rider. Sensitive luggage items (e.g., electronic devices) must also be protected from moisture with waterproof bags.
Use the supplied rain cover to counteract permanent sunlight or rain and avoid resulting damage or discoloration.
Before driving, check all parts and connections loosened during assembly and perform a vehicle function check. During a trip, check every 200 km if the tail bag is securely fastened to the vehicle and if the zipper is properly closed.
We recommend securing zippers with a padlock, safety pin, or string to prevent accidental opening.
Take into account that luggage on the vehicle influences driving and braking behavior and adjust your driving style accordingly to the changed conditions.
Click Lock System
The simple click lock system from Bagtecs offers various luggage solutions with a multitude of combination possibilities. Simply place a suitable Bagtecs bag on the tail bag already mounted on the vehicle. The bags can be combined in various ways using the enclosed click fastener straps. To do this, guide the fastening straps through the loops on the overlying bags and attach the ends to the click fasteners on the lower tail bag. Tighten the straps so that the bags are centered, firmly connected, and attached to the passenger seat. Ensure that the excess lengths of the belt ends are secured against flapping and cannot get caught in the wheel, drive, or other moving or hot vehicle parts.
