Digital Basal Thermometer
Model: EBT-018
Brand: Easy@Home
Intended Use
The Digital Basal Thermometer (EBT-018) is designed for women of childbearing age to measure basal body temperature (BBT).
What is Basal Body Temperature?
Basal body temperature is your body's temperature when you are fully at rest, taken immediately upon awakening before any activity. Unlike traditional thermometers, basal body thermometers offer increased accuracy to detect subtle changes, helping to identify your fertile window. The EBT-018 measures with an accuracy of ±0.10°F (±0.05°C) and provides readings in approximately 60 seconds.
How Your BBT Helps Pinpoint Ovulation
Your BBT typically surges slightly after ovulation, often by 0.40°F-1.00°F (0.20°C-0.60°C) or more. The free Premom app can automatically chart your readings, draw a coverline, and visually help you identify your BBT shift. Premom supports unlimited cloud measurements.
Note:
It is important to record your temperature daily to track your BBT trend for ovulation prediction.
What's Included
- 1 Thermometer
- 1 Manual
- 1 Protective case
Operating Instructions
Preparation
- Disinfect the probe before each use with 75% ethyl alcohol on a damp cloth. Do not immerse the thermometer in water or any other liquid. Avoid cleaning with thinners, petrol, or benzene.
- Ensure the device is clean and dry.
Measurement Steps
Step 1: Initial Display
Press the [power button] to switch the device on. The initial display shows all symbols.
Step 2: First Use vs. Later Use
On first use, the display may show "Lo" indicating a low measurement. Subsequent uses will show recorded temperatures.
Step 3: Calibration/Unit Selection
A calibration temperature (e.g., 97.70°F / 36.50°C) may be displayed, with the unit (°F or °C) flashing. This indicates the device is ready or in unit selection mode.
Step 4: Ready for Measurement
The "F" or "°C" symbol will flash, indicating the thermometer is ready. If the ambient temperature is above 89.60°F (32.00°C), the actual ambient temperature will be displayed without flashing units. You can now proceed with measurement.
Step 5: Measuring Temperature
Place the thermometer tip under your tongue, ensuring it remains in constant contact with the tissue. Close your mouth. The "F" or "°C" symbol will flash during measurement.
Step 6: Reading Complete
Consecutive [beep indicator] for approximately 10 seconds indicate the measurement is complete. The "F" or "°C" symbol will stop flashing and remain steady. The highest measured temperature will be displayed. For readings over 100.04°F (37.80°C), a rapid, consistent buzzer sound indicates fever.
Note on Measurement Time:
The average measuring time is 60 seconds. It is recommended to keep the sensor in your mouth for approximately 2 minutes after the beeps to ensure the highest accurate reading, even though the beep signals completion.
Note on Accuracy:
Avoid eating or drinking just before measuring temperature, as this can lead to inaccurate readings.
Switching Between Celsius and Fahrenheit
With the thermometer off, press and hold the [power button] for 2 seconds to switch the measurement unit between °F and °C.
How Does The Premom App Help?
The Premom app allows manual logging of BBT readings for fertility tracking.
Logging Your BBT
- On the main screen, tap the [log button].
- Select "Manual" to log your BBT.
- Tap the [degree symbol] area to enter your current numerical BBT, then tap "Save".
Managing Past Readings
- To log a previous day's temperature: Tap the [scroll down arrow] on the top of the screen, choose the date, and tap "Done".
- To edit or delete a logged temperature: Navigate to "Charts" on the main home screen, tap "Table" on the next screen. Swipe left on the desired entry to find "Edit" or "Del" options.
Note on App Interface:
The Premom app is regularly updated. While the interface may differ slightly from illustrations, core features remain similar and available.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance
Memory Recall
The thermometer stores only the last measured value. The reading may not save correctly if the measurement unit was recently switched or if the battery needs replacement.
Cleaning and Disinfecting
Clean the thermometer tip by applying 75% ethyl alcohol on a damp cloth. Do not immerse the thermometer in liquid. Never clean with thinners, petrol, or benzene.
Safety Precautions
- Device performance may degrade if operated or stored outside stated temperature/humidity ranges, or if subjected to mechanical shock or sensor degradation.
- Portable and mobile RF communications can affect the device.
- Do not use the device in an MR environment.
- Ensure the user's temperature is above ambient temperature for accurate readings.
- Do not bite the thermometer to avoid breakage or injury.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the unit.
- If stored outside the operating temperature range (41°F~104°F / 5°C~40°C), allow the unit to acclimate to ambient temperature for approximately 15 minutes before use.
Explanation of Display Error Messages
Error Message | Problem | Solution |
---|---|---|
Lo | Temperature is lower than 90.00°F (32.00°C) after measurement. | Turn off, wait one minute, and take a new temperature. |
H | Temperature is higher than 109.99°F (42.99°C) after measurement. | Turn off, wait one minute, and take a new temperature. |
Err | The system is not functioning properly. | Remove the battery, wait for 1 minute, and repower it. If the message reappears, contact customer service. |
[battery symbol] Flashing | Dead battery: Battery icon is flashing, the battery is drained. | Replace the battery. |
Battery Replacement
Replace the battery when the [battery symbol] appears in the lower right corner of the LCD display.
- Slide the battery cover off as described in the diagram illustrating battery cover removal.
- Gently pull out the plastic circuit board with the battery chamber approximately 1 cm as shown in the diagram illustrating the battery chamber.
- Use a pointed object to remove the old battery. Replace with a new 1.5V DC button type LR41 or SR41, UCC392, or equivalent. Ensure the battery is installed with polarity facing up, as shown in the diagram illustrating battery polarity.
- Slide the battery chamber back into place and attach the cover.
Battery Disposal
Dispose of the battery in accordance with local laws and regulations. [recyclable symbol]
