Using Your Vacuum

Above-Floor Cleaning

With Hand Vacuum:

Detach the hand vacuum to clean above-floor areas. Press the front latch release button on the hand vac where it meets the wand, then lift off the hand vacuum. To attach an accessory, slide it into the opening in the nozzle. To remove, press the front latch release button and slide the accessory out.

With Wand:

To detach the floor nozzle from the wand, step on the nozzle while pressing the nozzle release button at the bottom of the wand. Lift the wand to remove it. To reattach, align the wand over the neck of the floor nozzle and slide it on until it clicks into place.

MultiFLEX Wand

Use the MultiFLEX wand to adjust the angle for cleaning under furniture and in other hard-to-reach areas. Press the latch on the back of the wand to adjust the angle. Straighten the wand until it clicks securely into place to return to the original angle.

To fold the vacuum for storage, press the latch on the back of the wand and fold the vacuum down. Lean the folded unit against a wall or other surface for support.

Quiet Mode

Use Quiet mode to dock and charge the vacuum without automatic evacuation. Move the slider to the right to activate Quiet mode and to the left to deactivate. Do not use Quiet mode during evacuation.

Using the Auto-Empty Dock

Place the vacuum on the dock in a downward motion. Once properly attached, the automatic evacuation process will begin, lasting for 15 seconds. The vacuum will continue charging until removed from the dock. Important: Do not remove the vacuum while the evacuation cycle is taking place.

Dust Bin Full Indicator

The Dust Bin Full indicator will illuminate when the dust bin is full and needs to be emptied. Reset the indicator by removing and emptying the dust bin.

Cleaning the HEPA Filter

IP1000 Series:

Rinse the HEPA filter at least once a month to maintain suction power. More frequent cleaning may be necessary with heavy use.

  1. Turn off the vacuum.
  2. To access the HEPA filter, first press the dust cup empty button to open the dust cup. Then press the dust cup release button and slide the dust cup off the hand vac.
  3. Press the filter release button and gently pull the HEPA filter out of the hand vac.
  4. Rinse the filter with water only and allow it to air-dry completely for up to 48 hours before reinstalling. Tap off loose dirt between washes when needed.
  5. Slide the filter back into the hand vacuum.

IP3000 Series:

To access the HEPA filter:

  1. Press the Dust Cup Empty button to open the dust cup, then press the release button and slide the dust cup off the hand vac.
  2. Press the filter release button and gently pull the HEPA filter out of the hand vac.
  3. Rinse the filter with water only and allow it to air-dry completely for up to 48 hours before reinstalling.
  4. For IP3000 Series only: to release dust and debris into the trash, pull the lever on the bottom of the dust cup and the bottom lid will open.

Important: DO NOT use soap when cleaning the filters. Use water only. Ensure all filters are installed before using the vacuum.

Cleaning the Sensors

Sensors should be cleaned regularly as hair and debris can build up and obstruct them. If sensors are partially obstructed, DETECT mode may not function as expected.

Dirt Detect Sensors:

  1. Turn off power and remove the floor nozzle.
  2. Locate the Dirt Detect sensor in the nozzle of the hand vac, the Light Detect™ sensor on the top of the nozzle, and the Edge Detect sensor on the side of the nozzle.
  3. Gently wipe the sensors with a microfiber cloth and remove all hair and debris.
  4. Reattach the floor nozzle and turn on power. Verify normal function.

Emptying the Dust Cup

Dock Dust Bin:

Empty the dock dust bin when the Dust Bin Full indicator light comes on. Lift the bin out by the handle. Hold it over the trash and press the release button on the side; the bottom will open to release debris.

Handheld Vacuum Dust Cup (IP1000 Series):

Turn off the power and hold the hand vac over the trash. Press the release button, and the dust cup lid will drop open, releasing debris.

Handheld Vacuum Dust Cup (IP3000 Series):

To remove the dust cup, press the release button and slide the dust cup off the hand vac. Press the Dust Cup Empty button to open the dust cup lid.

Cleaning the Auto-Empty Dock Filter

To access the filter in the dock, remove the filter door by pressing the button at the bottom, tilting, and lifting it off. Remove the filter, rinse with water only, and air-dry completely before reinstalling. Replace the filter door.

To access the Auto-Empty Exhaust Foam Filter, remove the dust bin. Vacuum off any fine debris from the surface of the foam filter. Lift the filter out, rinse with water only, and allow it to air-dry completely before reinstalling.

For best results, clean auto-empty filters monthly and replace them regularly. Rinse with cold water ONLY. Allow all filters to air-dry for at least 24 hours before reinstalling.

Troubleshooting

WARNING: Turn off power and remove the battery before servicing.

IssuePossible Causes & Solutions
Vacuum is not picking up debris. No suction or light suction. (Third indicator light on hand vacuum is solid yellow.)
  • Dust cup may be full; empty dust cup.
  • Check floor nozzle for blockages; clear blockages.
  • Remove string, carpet fibers, or hair wrapped around the brushroll.
  • Check connection between hand vacuum and wand for blockages; clear blockages.
  • Check filters to see if they need cleaning. Follow instructions for rinsing and completely air-drying filters before reinstalling.
Vacuum lifts area rugs.
  • Ensure BOOST mode is not engaged. Take care when vacuuming area rugs or rugs with delicately sewn edges.
  • Turn off the unit to disengage from the carpet, then restart.
The brushroll in the floor nozzle doesn't spin.
  • Immediately turn off the vacuum. Remove any blockages before turning the vacuum back on.
  • Make sure the hand vacuum is tilted back far enough for the brushroll to engage.
  • If floor nozzle headlights are not illuminated, there may be a connection issue between the hand vacuum, wand, and nozzle. Try detaching and reconnecting the parts.
Vacuum turns off on its own.
  • Check battery indicator lights on the hand vacuum. If recharging is needed, place it on the charging dock with power off.
  • Empty dust cup and clean filters (see Maintenance section).
  • Check wand, accessories, and inlet openings for blockages; remove any blockages.
  • Allow unit and battery to cool for at least 45 minutes until they return to room temperature.
  • Press the On/Off switch to restart the vacuum.
