TP-Link Quick Installation Guide
Plug and Play
This guide demonstrates the setup process using the TL-WPA7517 KIT (European version). Images may differ from actual products.
Step 1: Connect the Adapter
Plug the adapter into a power outlet and connect it to your router's LAN port using an Ethernet cable.
Diagram Description: A router is shown connected via an Ethernet cable to a TP-Link TL-PA7017 Powerline adapter, which is plugged into a wall outlet.
Step 2: Connect the Extender
Plug the extender into a power outlet on the same electrical circuit. Wait until the extender's Powerline LED turns on.
Note: If the LED is off, refer to FAQ > Q2.
Diagram Description: The TL-PA7017 adapter is shown connected to a router. A TP-Link TL-WPA7517 extender is plugged into a different wall outlet. An indicator light on the extender is labeled 'On'.
Step 3: Enjoy!
Connect your devices to the internet using the default SSID (network name) and password found on the label at the top of the extender.
Tip: To unify or personalize your network, refer to the back page for instructions.
Diagram Description: A smartphone and a laptop are shown connecting wirelessly to the TL-WPA7517 extender. The extender has labels for SSID, Wireless Password, and a QR code for downloading the tpPLC app.
Attention
- Use the product only in the upright direction.
- Plug powerline devices directly into wall outlets, not power strips. Using a power strip may affect network performance or cause connection drops.
Diagram Description: Two illustrations show correct and incorrect power connections. The correct illustration shows devices plugged directly into wall outlets. The incorrect illustration shows devices plugged into a power strip.
Unify Your Wi-Fi Networks via WPS
Copy the SSID and password from your router via WPS to create a unified Wi-Fi network throughout your home.
Note: If your router lacks a WPS button, manually change the extender's Wi-Fi settings using the tpPLC app, tpPLC Utility, or web interface.
- Plug in the extender in the same room as your router. Wait until the extender's Wi-Fi LED turns on.
- Press your router's WPS button. Within 2 minutes, press the extender's Wi-Fi button for 1 second. The extender's Wi-Fi LED will blink. When it stays on, Wi-Fi settings have been copied.
Note: If Wi-Fi settings are not copied within 2 minutes, manually change the extender's Wi-Fi settings.
- Relocate the extender and enjoy the internet using your router's SSID and password.
Diagram Description: A sequence of diagrams illustrates the WPS process: a wireless router, an extender, and arrows indicating the WPS button press on the router and then the extender's Wi-Fi button. Status indicators for blinking and 'On' are shown.
Create a Secure Powerline Network by Pairing
Note: Pair only two devices at a time. It is recommended to plug in the powerline devices near each other during pairing.
- Press the Pair button on the adapter for 1 second. Its Power LED should start blinking.
Note: If the Power LED does not blink, press the Pair button again.
- Within 2 minutes, press the extender's Pair button for 1 second. Its Power LED should start blinking.
- When the extender's Powerline LED turns on, a powerline network has been successfully created.
Diagram Description: Diagrams show the pairing process: pressing the Pair button on the adapter (TL-PA7017), then pressing the Pair button on the extender (TL-WPA7517). LED status indicators for blinking and 'On' are shown for both devices.
Sync Wi-Fi Settings to More Extenders
If you have additional extenders, plug in and pair each one with the existing adapter to join the network. The Wi-Fi settings will automatically sync from the existing extender to the new ones.
