INSTRUCTION MANUAL DNS25
25A Day/Night Sensor
1. Introduction
The DNS25 Day/Night Sensor automatically activates lights at dusk and deactivates them at dawn. It is convenient and practical, controlling lighting loads by operating only at night. It features an adjustable lux knob to set light intensity. Applications include street lights, office lights, warehouse and factory lights, and garden lights.
2. Specifications
Function | Range |
---|---|
Power Source | 220 to 240V AC |
Rated Current | 25A |
Power Frequency | 50/60Hz |
Working Temperature | -20°C to 40°C |
Ambient Light | <5 to 50 LUX (Adjustable) |

3. Installation
- To install the DNS25 to a flat surface, connect the plastic bracket to the photocell's main body as indicated in Figure A. For pole mounting, a gland or conduit connector can be screwed into the base of the sensor.
- Ensure the DNS25 is installed above the light fitting, as indicated in the diagram.
- Ensure power is switched off.
- Connect the wires as per the wiring diagram.
Installation Diagrams
Figure A: Shows the plastic mounting bracket attached to the sensor body.
Mounting Placement:
- Incorrect: Depicts the sensor mounted below the light fitting, which could lead to the sensor receiving light from the fitting itself, affecting its operation.
- Correct: Shows the sensor mounted above the light fitting, ensuring it is exposed only to ambient light and not the light it controls.
4. Wire Connection Diagram
The diagram illustrates the wiring connections for the sensor. It shows a 220V AC input with connections for Line (L), Neutral (N), and Load (A). The Load is connected to the device being controlled.
Connections:
- Input Live (L)
- Input Neutral (N)
- Output to Load (A)
5. Test
- Switch the power on.
- Place the enclosed black plastic bag in the packing over the opaque (white) cover of the photocell, simulating darkness. This should automatically turn the lamp on.
- When the bag is removed from the cover, the lamp should automatically turn off.
Notes on Operation
- For accurate natural light control, ensure there are no obstructions in front of the opaque (white) cover.
- Avoid placing moving or swaying objects in front of the photocell.
- There is no minimum load requirement for connecting devices to the sensors. However, it is crucial to ensure that the load of connected devices is below the suggested specifications outlined in the manual and packaging. Exceeding these specifications may damage the sensor.
Adjustable LUX Knob
- The on and off levels can be set using the adjustable LUX knob, which controls the light intensity at which the photocell operates.
- Turning the LUX knob clockwise to the (-) position sets the LUX level to less than 5 LUX.
- Turning the LUX knob anticlockwise to the (+) position sets the LUX level to a maximum of 50 LUX.
