Genie Aladdin Connect Quick Set-up Guide

Important Safety Instructions

WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH, READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS.

1. NEVER let children operate or play with the door controls.
2. Keep remote controls away from children.
3. Locate the wall control button: A) Within sight of the door. B) At a minimum height of 5 feet, so small children cannot reach it.
4. Install the entrapment WARNING label next to the wall button or console, in a prominent location.
5. NO ONE SHOULD CROSS THE PATH OF THE MOVING DOOR.
6. NEVER GO UNDER A STOPPED, PARTIALLY OPEN DOOR.
7. The Aladdin Connect® operating system is designed for unattended operation. The door could move unexpectedly.
8. DO NOT install Aladdin Connect® on garage door openers manufactured prior to 1993 without photocell non-contact safety sensors.
9. DO NOT install on one-piece doors.
10. Install DCM in a location where it can be seen and heard while standing in the door opening with the door in the open position.

Installation Steps

STEP 1: Determine Mounting Location

The door control module (DCM) must be installed where it can be seen and heard while standing under the garage door when it is open. The location must be within 5ft of a standard 110-volt AC power outlet. Options include mounting next to the opener near the ceiling, next to an existing wall console, or in place of an existing wall console.

After determining the mounting location, remove the mounting bracket from the back of the DCM, plug in the power cord to the power outlet, and connect the plug to the DCM.

STEP 2: Check Wi-Fi Coverage

Verify the Wi-Fi signal strength in the garage where the DCM will be mounted. Your smartphone must show at least two bars of Wi-Fi signal strength. If the signal is weak, consider moving your Wi-Fi router, ensuring it's not obstructed, or using a Wi-Fi extender.

STEP 3: Download the App

Scan the QR code or search the app store for "Aladdin Connect" to download the app. Follow the in-app instructions to create an account and set up the device and Wi-Fi connection.

STEP 4: Wire Aladdin Connect®

Ensure the garage door opener is unplugged. Split the provided dual strand wire, strip the ends, and connect them to the DOOR 1 terminals on the back of the DCM. The other end of the wire can be connected directly to the garage door opener or to the back of the wall control, following the wiring diagrams provided. Ensure correct terminal connections for polarity-sensitive wires.

STEP 5: Mount and Power Aladdin Connect®

Use the DCM mounting bracket as a template to mark and drill holes for mounting. Secure the bracket to the wall using the supplied screws or anchors. Plug the Power Pack into a wall outlet and then into the back of the DCM. Snap the DCM onto the mounting bracket. Route wires and secure them with staples. Affix the warning placard in a visible location.

STEP 6: Mount DPS Module to Garage Door

Do not remove the battery "PULL TAB" from the Door Position Sensor (DPS) until directed by the app. The DPS should be mounted on the top door panel, on the far left or right end stile, under the top hinge. Clean the door surface, attach the mounting bracket with the provided double-sided tape, and then secure the bracket with self-tapping screws. Slide the DPS onto the bracket until it snaps into place.

STEP 7: Complete the Programming

Restore power to the garage door opener. Operate the door using the wall control. Open the Aladdin Connect app and confirm that the door position displayed in the app is accurate. The app will send alerts for door status changes and maintain a log of operations.
