Correct Operation of the Motor

1. Deploying and Stowing the Motor

Deploying the Motor

Press the stow/deploy foot pedal and gently lower the motor. Ensure the lower part of the Depth Collar aligns with the Steering Collar. (See Figure 6)

Stowing the Motor

Press the stow/deploy foot pedal. Grab the handle, head, or shaft of the motor, lift, and retract, sliding it horizontally until the motor clicks into the cradle. Keep fingers clear of all hinges and pivot points when raising or lowering the motor.

The shaft of the Cayman slides smoothly, making it easy to deploy and stow. Do NOT let the motor free-fall when deploying; lower it gently into position to prevent damage to the Steering Collar.

2. Adjusting the Motor's Depth

While holding the motor by the shaft to prevent accidental sliding, loosen the nut on the Depth Collar and lower the motor to the required depth. Tighten the nut to secure. (See Figure 7)

Suggestion: When first using the motor, determine the correct depth for general fishing conditions. Using a permanent marker, make a mark at the top of the Depth Collar for easy depth setting in the future.

Towing: When towing the boat with the trolling motor in place, ALWAYS lock the Depth Collar against the gearbox and support the shaft near the head.

3. Remote Control Buttons

The remote control features several buttons for operating the motor:

4. Pairing Remote to Motor

To pair the remote to the motor, press and hold the area below the battery status lights on the motor and the 'Q' button (also the Slower button) on the remote simultaneously for three (3) seconds. You will hear three beeps, indicating that the connection has been made and the remote and motor are paired. Release both buttons.

5. Mode Signal Light

  1. Press the "ON" button; the indicator light will be solid or flash, indicating the remote control is in "standby" state.
  2. Press any button on the remote control; the red indicator light will flash, indicating a signal is being sent.
  3. Select the Anchor (Spot Lock) button (?); the light will be two-tone pink/purple, indicating the motor is in anchor (spot lock) mode.
  4. Press the "OFF" button to turn off the remote control; the light will turn off. (See Figure 9)

Note: If you press the "ON" button and there is no indicator light or only a solid red light, please recharge the remote control as the battery may be low.

6. Speed Control

Press the propeller symbol (?) to activate the motor. Click press the speed up (⬆️) or speed down (⬇️) buttons to adjust motor speed. To switch to full speed, long press the speed up button (?). Press the propeller symbol (?) again to stop the motor. (See Figure 10)
