SkyRC e450 Battery Charger User Manual
Model: SK-100122
Introduction
Thank you for choosing the SkyRC e450 AC-powered balance charger. This device is easy to use but requires some user knowledge. Please read this user manual carefully and in its entirety before using this product, as it covers a wide range of information on usage and safety.
The SkyRC e450 charger is a high-quality, economical, AC-powered balance charger designed to charge 2 to 4 cell LiPo and LiFe batteries, balancing them. It can also charge 6 to 8 cell NiMH batteries. The charging power is 50W and the charging current can reach 4A. You can select a current of 1A, 2A, 3A, or 4A, allowing you to choose a current suitable for the battery's capacity.
Key Features and Components:
- LED Indicator LiPo: Indicates LiPo battery charging status.
- LED Indicator LiFe: Indicates LiFe battery charging status.
- LED Indicator LiHV: Indicates LiHV battery charging status.
- LED Indicator NiMH: Indicates NiMH battery charging status.
- Charge Current Selector: Slider to select charging current (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A).
- Battery Type Selector Button: Button to select the battery type (LiPo, LiFe, LiHV, NiMH).
- AC Input Socket: For connecting the 100-240V AC power cord.
- Balance Connectors: Sockets for 4S, 3S, and 2S balance leads.
- Battery Connector: Port for connecting the battery to be charged.
Usage
The e450 SkyRC features an internal transformer. You can plug the power cord directly into a wall socket (100 to 240V AC).
Follow these steps to charge your battery:
- Plug the power cord into the charger.
- Plug the power cord into a wall socket (100-240V). All LEDs will light up for 1 second, and the charge status LED will flash green and red, indicating the charger is ready to charge.
- Select the battery type (LiPo, LiFe, LiHV, or NiMH) by pressing the "BATT TYPE" button.
- Select the correct charge current (1A/2A/3A/4A) using the slide selector. The charging current can range from 1A (1000mA) to 4A (4000mA). The recommended charging current is 1C (Battery Capacity = Charging Current). 1C means: capacity value = current value. For example, for a 2200mAh LiPo battery, 1C = 2200mA (2.2A), you can choose 2A to charge your battery. For a 2800mAh LiPo battery, 1C = 2800mA (2.8A), you can choose 3A to charge your battery.
- Connect the battery's main leads via a suitable charging lead to the front ports of the charger and connect the balance plug to the balance connector on the right side of the charger. The charger will start charging. The charge status LED will light up solid to indicate that charging is in progress.
Connection Diagram:
The diagram shows the correct way to connect your battery. Incorrect connection may damage the charger.
LED Status Indication:
LED Status | Description |
---|---|
Flashing Green & Red | Charger ready to charge |
Solid Red | Battery charged to less than 25% |
Flashing Red | Battery charged between 25% and 50% capacity |
Solid Yellow | Battery charged between 50% and 75% capacity |
Flashing Green | Battery charged between 75% and 99% capacity |
Solid Green | Battery completely charged |
When the battery is fully charged, the charge status LED will remain solid green. Disconnect the battery from the charger; the LED will flash green, indicating the charger is ready to charge another battery.
NiMH Battery Charging
Connect the battery's leads via a suitable charging lead to the front ports of the charger. Press and hold the "BATT TYPE" button for 2 seconds to start charging. The charge status LED will light up to indicate that charging is in progress.
When the battery is fully charged, the charge status LED will light up solid green. Disconnect the battery from the charger; the LED will flash green, indicating the charger is ready to charge another battery.
ATTENTION: Always ensure you are charging a NiMH battery with the NiMH mode. Charging a lithium battery in NiMH mode can cause fire, injury, or material damage.
Troubleshooting
If an error occurs, all 4 status LEDs will flash. Press the "BATT TYPE" button to reset the charger after correcting the error cause. If the error cannot be resolved, disconnect the power cord from the wall socket and disconnect the battery from the charger.
