Welcome to the NexiGo family! This manual provides comprehensive instructions for your Nova Mini Smart Laser Projector (PJ08).
Important Safety Instructions

Child Safety Measures
- Children should not play with this appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be done without adult supervision.
- Children under 3 years of age should be kept away from this device unless continuously supervised.
- Children from 3 to 8 years of age should not plug in, regulate, clean, or perform any maintenance on this device.
- Children from 3 to 8 years of age may only switch the appliance on/off after the following safety precautions are met: the product is in its intended operating position, the child has direct supervision or full instructions for safe use, and the child understands the hazards involved.
Operational Safety Measures
- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a special cord or assembly from the manufacturer or its service agent.
- Ensure the projector is installed in a location that does not block ventilation to prevent overheating.
- Do not expose the projector to moisture or liquids to reduce the risk of fire and/or electric shock.
- Do not install near heat sources or appliances that emit heat.
- Prevent small objects from entering the projector, as they could cause short circuits, fires, or electric shocks.
- Do not use the projector under the following conditions: extremely hot, cold, or humid environments (ambient temperature 32°F-104°F / 0°C-40°C, relative humidity 30%-85%), altitudes above 16404.2 feet (5000 meters), areas with excessive dust/dirt, near appliances generating strong magnetic fields, or in direct sunlight.
- Do not use if the projector has been physically damaged or abused (e.g., dropped, damaged cord, liquid spilled, exposed to rain, objects inside).
- Do not place on an unstable surface.
- Do not block the light from the projector lens during operation, as objects may melt, cause burns, or start a fire.
- Do not open or disassemble the projector; this may result in electrical shock. Do not attempt self-service; repairs should only be done by the manufacturer or service agent.
- Only use manufacturer-specified attachments/accessories.
- Do not look directly into the projector lens during operation, as bright light can harm vision.
- When switching off, ensure the cooling cycle is complete before disconnecting power (allow at least 90 seconds for cool down).
- Use only the specified voltage.
- Disconnect the power plug when not in use for extended periods.
- Do not set up where the projector might be subjected to vibration or shock.
- Do not touch the lens with bare hands.
- Remove remote control batteries before storage.
- Do not use or store in smoky areas.
- Non-standard installation may affect performance; refer to the manual for proper installation.
- Use a power strip and/or surge protector.
- When installing ceiling/wall mounts, do not use adhesives, oils, or lubricants, as they can cause the case to crack or the projector to fall.
- Do not stand the projector vertically, as it may fall and cause damage or injury.
- Hot air and a slight odor from the ventilation grill during operation are normal.
Cleaning the Projector
- Turn off and unplug the projector before cleaning.
- Use a soft, dry cloth with mild detergent for the housing.
- Do not use harsh cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
Photosensitive Seizure Warning
Some viewers may experience seizures or strokes from flashing images/lights. Consult a medical specialist if you have a history of epilepsy or stroke before using the projector.
3D Safety Information
- Children and teenagers are more susceptible to health issues with 3D projections and require supervision.
- Pregnant women, the elderly, sleep-deprived individuals, those under the influence of alcohol, and people prone to serious medical conditions should avoid using the 3D function.
- Extended 3D viewing may cause headaches or fatigue. Stop viewing and rest if symptoms occur.
- If you experience altered vision, light-headedness, dizziness, involuntary movements, confusion, nausea, loss of awareness, convulsions, cramps, or disorientation, stop viewing immediately and consult a medical specialist. Parents should monitor children for these symptoms.
- 3D viewing may cause motion sickness, perceptual after-effects, disorientation, eye strain, and decreased postural stability. Take frequent breaks. If symptoms occur, stop use until they subside for at least 30 minutes.
- Do not place the projector near open stairwells, cables, balconies, or fall hazards.
- Sitting too close to the screen for extended periods may damage eyesight. The ideal viewing distance is at least three times the screen height, with eyes level with the screen center.
- Do not use 3D glasses for purposes other than watching 3D projections.
Remote Control Battery
Risk of explosion if batteries are replaced with an incorrect type, crushed, cut, exposed to fire/hot oven, or extreme temperatures (high or low air pressure).

Remote Control
Function Diagram
The remote control features a directional pad and various functional buttons:
- 1. Power: Press to power on, enter sleep mode, or wake up from sleep. Press and hold for 3 seconds to power off.
- 2. Source: Change input source.
- 3. Google Assistant: Activate Google Assistant.
- 4. Profile Selector: Switch between Google Accounts.
- 5. Settings: Open sidebar menu.
- 6. Arrows: Navigate selections.
- 7. OK: Select highlighted option.
- 8. Back: Return to the previous screen.
- 9. Live Tab: Launches the Live Tab (if supported) or a deep link to the OEM app.
- 10. Home: Return to the home page.
- 11. Volume (+/-): Adjust volume.
- 12. Mute: Toggle audio on/off.
- 13. Focus (+/-): Adjust focus.
- 14. YouTube: Open YouTube.
- 15. Netflix: Open Netflix.

Putting Batteries in the Remote Control
- Press and slide off the battery cover.
- Insert 2 new AAA batteries, matching polarity (+/-).
- Slide the battery cover on until it clicks.
Connecting the Remote Control
Infrared (IR) Mode
Point the remote towards the IR sensor on the front of the projector. The angle should not exceed 30 degrees, and the distance should not exceed 26 feet (~8 meters).
Bluetooth Mode
Navigate to Settings > All Settings > Remote & Accessories. Hold the remote within 7.87 inches of the projector. Press and hold the Back and Home buttons simultaneously for at least 10 seconds to enter pairing mode. A successful pairing will display a confirmation message.
Note: When using IR mode, the remote must be within +15 degrees of the infrared sensor to function.
Quick Start Guide
Choosing a Location
Room size and layout are crucial for projector placement. Consider:
- Screen size, shape, and position.
- Location of a suitable power outlet.
- Adequate airflow space for the projector.

Powering On
- Plug the projector into a power outlet using the provided power cable.
- Press and hold the Power button on top of the projector for 3 seconds to turn on the Nova Mini. Pressing it again will open the power off menu.

Completing First Time Set-Up
Follow on-screen instructions for initial setup, which includes:
- Pairing the remote with the projector.
- Selecting your preferred language.
- Setting up Google TV™ with your mobile device or projector.
- Connecting to a network.
- Signing in to your Google Account.
Focusing the Projector
Adjust focus if the image appears blurry.
Automatic Focus
To enable automatic focus, go to Settings > All Settings > Projector > Focus > Trigger Autofocus. Please wait 3-5 seconds for changes to take effect. Autofocus on Startup and Autofocus upon Motion can also be enabled in Advanced Settings.
Manual Focus
Go to Settings > All Settings > Projector > Focus > Manual Focus. Use the Left/Right buttons to adjust focus. The illustration shows the manual focus screen with adjustment options.
Notes:
- Wait at least 30 minutes after turning on the projector for manual adjustments.
- Disable Autofocus on Power on and Autofocus after Moving to keep manual adjustments unchanged.
Adjusting Keystone Correction
Use Keystone Correction to fix skewed or distorted projections.
Automatic Keystone
For white wall projection: Go to Settings > All Settings > Projector > Keystone > Trigger Auto Keystone. Auto Keystone on Startup, Autofocus upon Motion, and Obstacle Avoidance can also be activated. For screen projection: Go to Settings > All Settings > Projector > Keystone > Screen Detection.
Note: Auto adjustment takes 3-5 seconds.
Manual Keystone
Go to Settings > All Settings > Projector > Keystone > Manual Keystone. Use the OK button to select a corner and the Up/Down/Left/Right arrow buttons to adjust it. The illustration shows the manual keystone correction interface.
Powering Off
To power off, press and hold the Power button on the remote or projector for approximately 3 seconds, then confirm by selecting 'Power Off'. It is recommended to unplug the power cable when not in use for extended periods.
Connectors and Ports
When connecting devices, ensure all devices are off, cables are securely inserted, and the correct cable is used.

Using Your Projector
Network Connection
- Wired: Plug in an Ethernet cable.
- Wireless: Go to Settings > Wi-Fi, turn on Wi-Fi, and select your network. Follow on-screen instructions.
Select an App
Once connected to a network, access online services. Download apps via Apps > Search for apps and games.
Voice Assistant
Press and hold the Google Assistant button on the remote to use voice commands. Availability varies by country and language.
Bluetooth Connection
Connect external audio devices (speakers) or accessories (controllers, keyboards, mice). Navigate to Settings > Bluetooth > Pair Accessories. Activate pairing mode on your device and select it from the list.
Firmware Update
Update firmware for the latest features. You will be notified of new versions or can check manually via Settings > All Settings > System > About > System upgrade > Check for update.
Wireless Casting
Wirelessly display content from iOS, macOS, Android™, and Windows devices.
Note: Copyright restrictions may apply to certain content (e.g., Netflix, Disney+). Install apps directly on the projector for such content.
1. Google Cast™
Stream content from your phone, tablet, or laptop. Ensure your device and projector are on the same network, open a streaming app, tap the casting icon, and select 'PJ08' or 'Nova Mini'.
2. Screen Mirroring
For iOS Devices
- Connect your device and projector to the same wireless network.
- Install AirScreen or another screen mirroring app via Apps > Search for apps and games.
- Open the app and follow on-screen instructions.
For Android Devices
- Connect your device and projector to the same wireless network.
- Ensure your projector is on the Google TV home page.
- Download the Google Home app on your Android device.
- Find 'PJ08' or 'Nova Mini' in the Google Home app's Device section and select 'Cast my screen'.
- Follow on-screen instructions to cast your screen.
FAQ
How Do I Disable the Auto Features?
Autofocus and Auto Keystone Correction are enabled by default. To disable Autofocus, go to Settings > All Settings > Projector > Focus and disable 'Autofocus on Startup' and 'Autofocus upon Motion'. To disable Auto Keystone Correction, go to Settings > All Settings > Projector > Keystone and disable 'Auto Keystone on Startup', 'Autofocus upon Motion', and 'Obstacle Avoidance'.
How Do I Connect a Soundbar or Speaker?
Option 1: HDMI ARC (Recommended)
Connect via HDMI 1 (ARC) using an HDMI cable. Enable ARC on your projector (Settings > All settings > Display & Sound > Audio Output > Digital Output > Bypass) and on your soundbar/speaker. Audio is sent directly from the projector.
Option 2: Bluetooth
Enable Bluetooth on your soundbar/speaker. On the Nova Mini, go to Settings > Bluetooth > Pair Accessories and select your device.
Why is There No Sound Coming from the Nova Mini?
- Check volume levels: Ensure the projector is not muted or set to low volume. Adjust volume on connected devices as well.
- Check audio settings: Navigate to Settings > Sound > Speakers and set to 'On'.
- Verify audio format compatibility with the projector.
- Reset the projector: Settings > All Settings > System > About > Reset > Factory Reset.

How Do I Adjust the Screen Size of the Nova Mini?
Option 1: Moving the Nova Mini (Recommended)
Move the projector closer to or further from the screen to adjust size.
Option 2: Adjust Digital Zoom
Go to Settings > All Settings > Projector > Keystone > Adjust Screen Size. Use the Left arrow to adjust size. Use 'Adjust Screen Position' to reposition after zooming.
Play a 3D Movie
To play a 3D movie, connect an external HDMI device capable of 3D playback. Select the HDMI input source via the remote's 'Source' button. Then, go to Settings > Picture > Advanced Settings > 3D Settings > 3D Format and choose a format.
Note: You need 120Hz active shutter DLP 3D glasses (left/right eye rotation feature, not included). NexiGo DLP Link 3D glasses are recommended. Using an external 3D Blu-ray player will enhance the experience. Not all 3D formats support refresh rates over 30 Hz.

How Do I Adjust the Brightness of the Nova Mini?

How Do I Play Videos Without Wi-Fi?
- Download videos to a USB drive.
- Install a file explorer or media player app (e.g., VLC) from the Apps tab on the Nova Mini Home page.

Troubleshooting: Nova Mini Issues
Why Won't the Nova Mini Turn On?
- Ensure the device is properly connected to a power source. Press and hold the Power button on the projector.
- If the projector is hot, wait for it to cool down before restarting.
- If the issue persists, contact NexiGo customer support at cs@nexigo.com.
How Do I Stop the System from Crashing or Freezing?
- Power off and unplug the projector. Wait one minute for capacitors to discharge, then plug in and power on.
- Free up system space by deleting unused files.
Why is the Nova Mini Shutting Down from Overheating?
To prevent overheating:
- Remove objects blocking air vents and restart the projector.
- Move the projector away from heat sources (air ducts, space heaters, direct sunlight).
Why Won't the Remote Control Work?
- Replace batteries with new AAA batteries.
- When the projector is powered off, Bluetooth is disabled. Use the IR sensor to power it on; Bluetooth will re-establish once the projector is on.
- Remove any obstacles blocking the IR sensor on the front of the projector.
- Ensure the remote is within 26 feet of the projector.

- Touching the glass surface may leave smudges and fingerprints; handle with care.

- Ensure temperature ( -4°F-131°F / -20°C-55°C) and humidity (30%-85% RH) are within recommended ranges.
- Retract the adjuster foot.
- Remove batteries from the remote control.

The projector features Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities enabled by default. TCP ports 6466 and 6467 are open for Google's remote control services. The projector has a built-in camera for auto focus and keystone correction.
Remote Control Description
The projector is designed for single-user use. The remote control has a directional pad with an 'OK' button at its center for navigation. Above the pad are rows of buttons: Profile Selector, Google Assistant, Settings, Power, and Input Source. Below the pad are four rows of functional buttons: Back, Home, Live TV; Volume, Mute, Focus; YouTube, Netflix; and Prime Video, Apps.
