2.0 Application
Read the user manual carefully before using the car seat for the first time. Your child's safety is your responsibility, and failure to read this manual could endanger your child.
The car seat is designed, tested, and approved according to the UN/ECE Regulation No. 129 concerning the approval of enhanced child restraint systems (UN/ECE R129/03).
The COMFORT UP i-Size car seat is intended for children with a height of 76 cm to 150 cm and for forward-facing installation.
Child Height | Car Seat Direction | Car Seat Attachment | Securing the Child |
---|---|---|---|
76cm - 105cm / ≤18kg | Forward-facing travel | 3-point car seat belt | Internal harness |
100cm - 150cm | Forward-facing travel | 3-point car seat belt | 3-point car seat belt |
The car seat can be installed in the vehicle in positions indicated by the vehicle manufacturer in the car's manual. Reading the vehicle manufacturer's manual is essential.
3.0 Safety Precautions
Warnings
Take a few minutes to read this manual to ensure your child's safety. Many preventable injuries are caused by reckless and improper use of the car seat.
- The car seat is designed for installation in forward-facing vehicle seats only. Do not install on rear-facing or side-facing seats (see diagram A.2).
- If a car seat is installed in the front passenger seat, the frontal airbag must be deactivated. It is recommended to install the car seat only on the rear seat of a car. Consult the vehicle manual for information on seat suitability for child car seats.
- Ensure the internal harness fits the child's body snugly and is not twisted. Avoid dressing the child in thick clothing under the harness.
- The lap portion of the safety harness should lie as low as possible across the child's pelvis for optimal effect in case of an accident.
- The car seat must be replaced if it has been subjected to sudden stress during a traffic accident.
- The car seat must not be modified in any way without the approval of the competent approval authority. Improper installation according to the manufacturer's instructions can pose risks to life and health.
- Keep the child car seat away from direct sunlight, as heated parts can burn the child. Protect your child and the car seat from the sun.
Diagram A.2 illustrates correct (forward-facing) and incorrect (rear/side-facing) installation positions.
Diagram A.3 illustrates correct (low) and incorrect (high) positioning of the hip belt.
Additional Safety Guidelines
- Never leave your child unattended in a car seat.
- Ensure luggage and other items are properly secured, especially on the parcel shelf, as they can cause injury in a collision.
- The car seat cannot be used without its cover.
- Do not use replacement covers other than those recommended by the manufacturer, as they are an integral part of the seat's safety system.
- Do not use attachment points other than those described in the manual and indicated on the child car seat.
- All hard and plastic parts of the child car seat must be positioned and installed so they cannot be trapped by a sliding seat or vehicle door during normal use.
- Regularly check the condition of the car seat, paying attention to attachment points, seams, and adjustment elements. Ensure all mechanical parts are fully functional. Never lubricate or oil child car seat parts.
- Do not use the child car seat if parts are damaged or loose.
- In an emergency, it is important that the safety harness can be released quickly. Ensure the harness release button is not fully engaged and that your child does not play with the harness.
- Set a good example for your child by always wearing a seat belt yourself. An adult not wearing a seat belt can also pose a risk to a child.
- Check that the car seat is securely fastened before each car journey.
- The car seat must be secured even when not in use. An unsecured car seat can cause injury to passengers even during a sudden stop.
- With some vehicle seats made of delicate materials, car seat use may cause stains or discoloration. To prevent this, place a blanket, towel, or similar item under the car seat.
4.0 Using the Seat Reducer
The seat reducer (see diagram B.1, position 14) enhances comfort and provides extra support for young children. It is recommended to use both the lower part and the upper part (head cushion) until the child requires more space in the car seat. The seat reducer should then be removed.
4.1 Installing the Seat Reducer
- Release the internal harness (5) by pressing the red button on the buckle (6).
- Place the seat reducer (14) into the car seat, ensuring it fits against the sides.
- Adjust the position of the internal harness. Ensure the internal harness is not twisted.
- Place the upper part of the seat reducer onto the headrest using its strap.
Diagram B.1 shows the car seat with the seat reducer parts laid out.
5.0 Using the Car Seat
5.1 Internal Harness and Headrest Adjustment
The car seat features an integrated harness and headrest adjustment system. The headrest must be adjusted to the child's height. The safety harness height changes with the headrest height. Before adjusting the headrest, release the internal harness (5) by pressing the adjustment knob (8) while pulling the shoulder straps towards you (see diagram C.1).
A correctly positioned headrest ensures optimal positioning of the car seat belt over the shoulder area, providing protection and comfort for your child. Adjust the shoulder strap height so that the strap is at the level of the child's shoulder or slightly above it on the car seat backrest (see diagram C.2).
- To raise the headrest and shoulder straps, grasp the headrest adjustment lever (11) located at the back of the headrest (1) and pull it upwards carefully. The headrest will unlock.
- The headrest (1) can now be set to the desired height (see diagram C.3). Once the height is set, release the adjustment lever (11); the headrest will lock in place after a slight upward or downward adjustment.
- IMPORTANT: Ensure the vehicle seat headrest is locked.
- To lower the headrest and shoulder straps, pull the headrest adjustment strap (11) and allow the headrest to descend. The headrest and shoulder straps will lower simultaneously.
NOTE: Correctly setting the headrest height directly impacts the child's safety.

5.2 Securing the Child with the Internal Harness
- Fully release the harness straps by pressing the knob (8) and pulling the harness straps (see diagram C.4).
- Release the buckle (6) and place the harness straps on the sides of the car seat (see diagram B.5). Place the child in the car seat (see diagram B.6).
- Adjust the headrest to the child's height (see section 5.1).
- Bring the two buckle tongues together, interlock them, and insert them into the buckle (6) until you hear a characteristic "click" (see diagram B.7).
Diagram C.4 shows releasing the harness. Diagram B.5 shows placing straps aside. Diagram B.6 shows placing the child. Diagram B.7 shows buckling the harness.
5.3 Tensioning the Internal Harness
- Pull the shoulder straps to remove slack from the pelvic area, ensuring the internal harness lies flat.
- Tension the internal harness using the adjustment strap (8) until the harness is flat and snug against the child's body (see diagram C.8).
NOTE: The pelvic portion of the internal harness straps should be positioned as low as possible on the child's hips. Ensure the internal harness is not twisted (see diagram C.9).
Diagram C.8 shows tensioning the harness. Diagram C.9 shows correct hip belt positioning.
6.0 Installation in the Vehicle
In case of sudden braking or an accident, unrestrained persons can injure other occupants.
Always ensure that:
- The car's backrests are locked (i.e., the lock for the foldable rear seat backrest is engaged).
- All heavy items and items with sharp edges are secured (e.g., on the parcel shelf).
- All passengers are wearing seat belts.
- The car seat is always securely fastened, even when the child is not in it.
6.1 Forward-Facing Car Seat Installation for Children from 76 to 105 cm Using the Vehicle's 3-Point Seat Belt
- Adjust the shoulder belt and headrest height to your child's height (see section 5.1).
- Place the child car seat on the vehicle seat, ensuring the car seat's headrest does not interfere between the child seat's backrest and the vehicle seat.
- Extend the vehicle's seat belt. Open the seat belt buckle (13). Route the shoulder belt through the designated slot (13) on the side of the car seat. Simultaneously, tuck the lap belt behind the fabric at the rear of the car seat (see diagram D.1).
- Slide the seat belt buckle along with the shoulder and lap belts behind the backrest to the other side of the car seat (see diagram D.2).
- Fasten the 3-point seat belts; you will hear a click [click] (see diagram D.4).
