Terminology
- Gateway: A Z-Wave® gateway, also referred to as a Z-Wave® controller, Z-Wave® main controller, Z-Wave® primary controller, or Z-Wave® hub, etc., is a device that serves as a central hub for a Z-Wave® smart home network.
- S button: The Z-Wave® Service button, used for functions such as inclusion, exclusion, and resetting the device.
- Device: Refers to the Shelly Qubino device that is the subject of this guide.
About Shelly Qubino
Shelly Qubino is a line of microprocessor-managed devices that allow remote control of electric circuits via smartphone, tablet, PC, or home automation system. They operate on the Z-Wave® wireless communication protocol, requiring a gateway for configuration. When the gateway is internet-connected, devices can be controlled remotely. Shelly Qubino devices are compatible with other Z-Wave® certified devices, and mains-operated nodes act as repeaters to increase network reliability.
Wave Pro Series
The Wave Pro series is suitable for homes, offices, retail stores, and manufacturing facilities. Pro devices are DIN-mountable inside the breaker box, ideal for new construction. All Wave Pro devices can be controlled and monitored through the Z-Wave® network.
About the Device
The Device is a DIN rail mountable 3-channel smart switch with potential-free contacts. It controls the on/off function for three independent electrical devices with a load up to 16 A per channel (48 A in total). It is compatible with switches (default) and push-buttons.
Installation Instructions
The Device can be DIN-mounted inside the breaker box. Refer to the wiring scheme (Fig. 1) in this user guide.
- ⚠ CAUTION! Danger of electrocution. Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician.
- ⚠ CAUTION! Ensure no voltage is present at the Device terminals before making any connection changes.
- ⚠ CAUTION! Use the Device only with a power grid and appliances that comply with all applicable regulations.
- ⚠ CAUTION! Do not connect the Device to appliances exceeding the given max. load.
- ⚠ CAUTION! Allow at least 10 mm of space around each Pro device if expecting currents higher than 5 A per channel.
- ⚠ CAUTION! Do not shorten the antenna.
- ⚠ RECOMMENDATION: Place the antenna away from metal elements to avoid signal interference.
- ⚠ RECOMMENDATION: Connect the Device using solid single-core cables or stranded cables with ferrules. Use cables with insulation resistant to heat, not less than PVC T105°C (221°F).
- ⚠ RECOMMENDATION: For inductive appliances causing voltage spikes (e.g., motors, fans), connect an RC snubber (0.1 µF / 100 Ω / 1/2 W / 600 V AC) parallel to the appliance.
- ⚠ CAUTION! Do not allow children to play with connected buttons/switches or remote control devices.
