MGMini details
- A Microphone: Allows communication with an emergency operator.
- B Help button: Press in an emergency or to cancel a false alarm.
- C Light indicator: The LED light around the help button shows the battery status.
- D Speaker: Amplifies the emergency operator's voice and other sounds.
- E Info button: Used for various device functions.
WARNING: There is a mild strangulation and choking hazard due to the nature of wearing a neck pendant. Injury is unlikely, and the lanyard is designed to break away when tugged.
3 steps to set up your device
- Plug the large end of the USB wire into the charging brick, and the small USB end into the charging cradle. Connect to a wall outlet not connected to a light switch. The charging cradle will display a green LED light when connected to power.
- Place your device on the charger with the help button facing out. The device will display an LED light indicating it is charging. A blinking red light means it needs more charge time. A solid green light indicates the device is fully charged (approximately 4 hours).
- When connected to the cellular network, the device will say: "Device ready." Test the device once it is fully charged to complete setup.
Test your device
To test your device, press the side button twice (1 second between presses). The device will say: "Entering test mode. Press the help button to connect to the test center." After this, press and hold the help button on the front for two seconds. The device will ask for your name to test the two-way microphone. Upon completion, the device will say, "Test mode completed." Make or cancel an emergency call
- Press the help button for 2 seconds. The device will say "Initiating help." You will hear a series of beeps.
- During the beeps, you can cancel the call by pressing and holding the help button for 5 seconds.
- While connecting to the Monitoring Center, the device will say, "Call in progress" every 10 seconds. When connected, it will say "Call connected. Please stand by for an operator" every 10 seconds until fully connected.
- Once connected, speak to the emergency operator. When the call ends, the device will say, "Call completed."
*If there is a connection issue, the device will say, "Bad Network, Please call 911".
The info button
The info button performs different actions based on the number of presses (one press equals a one-second hold, up to four presses).
- 1 Press: States signal strength and battery status. It will say "Cellular signal good," "Battery level good," "Battery level low, charge your device," or "Battery level very low, charge your device immediately."
- 2 Presses: Tests your device. Press the info button twice, and the device will say “Entering test mode. Press the help button to connect to the test center.” Press and hold the help button for two seconds. You will be asked to state your name to test the two-way microphone. When completed, the device says, “Call completed, test mode completed.”
- 3 Presses: Pairs your device with a pendant or other add-on. Press the info button 3 times. Your Mini will say, "Entering pairing mode. Press the button on the peripheral to connect to the device." Then press the pendant's button for 3 seconds. Pairing completion is confirmed by the device saying "Pairing completed."
- 4 Presses: Turns your device off. Press the info button 4 times or press and hold for 4 seconds. You will hear a beep and the device says “Powering off.” To power back on, press and hold the info button for 4 seconds or place it in the charging cradle.
What do the lights mean?
When the MGMini is in the charging cradle:
- Solid green LED light: Fully charged (95% or higher), device registered to cellular network.
- Solid red LED light: Battery is charging, or battery is less than 95%. If completely drained, it stays solid red until 95%.
When the MGMini is out of the charging cradle:
- Flashing green LED light every minute: Normal behavior, above 20% battery life.
- Flashing red LED light every minute: Low battery (20% or less).
- Flashing amber LED light every minute: Network connection issue (loss of registration).
- Red, green, amber LED lights illuminated: Over-the-air update in progress.
Charging cradle light:
- Solid green LED light: Charging cradle is connected to a power supply.
FAQs
- Can I wear the device in the shower?
- Yes, the device is water-resistant and can be worn in the shower, where 80% of falls occur.
- Will I be protected anywhere I go with the device?
- Yes, using GPS and WiFi, emergency operators can send immediate help anywhere. The MGMini offers the widest GPS coverage among medical alerts with 4G LTE.
- How do I get protected when my device is charging?
- Add a secondary wrist or neck pendant. This pendant connects to the MGMini while charging, allowing access to emergency help with a button push. While it incurs a small fee, it provides an extra layer of protection.
- Do I need to have AT&T or Verizon network service on my cellular plan in order to use this device?
- No, the MGMini has an embedded cellular SIM card and its own service plan, included in your total service costs. Enjoy nationwide coverage without changing your plan.
