JetSort® interface Model 1606 to JetScan® or JetCount® Operating instructions Introduction The JetSort® model 1606 can be interfaced with a JetScan® Single-Pocket and Dual-Pocket currency scanner or a JetCount® currency counter. The JetSort acts as the host to the JetScan or JetCount and can display and print machine totals, depending on how these functions are programmed through setup. This document explains the interface between the JetSort and the JetScan and JetCount as well as basic functions when these machines operate together. Note the following key functions while navigating through the setup screens. JetSort Function Keys Key Names Start S/Bat Start Batch Print Totals Denom Clear Function Description Scroll Forward: With cursor on top line, scrolls forward through menu screens. With cursor on bottom line, scrolls forward through selection options. Scroll Backward: With cursor on top line, scrolls backward through menu screens. With cursor on bottom line, scrolls backward through selection options. Next Line -- moves cursor from top to bottom menu line and vice versa. Option Forward Key scrolls through menu options so user can make or change a selection Option Backward Key scrolls through menu options so user can make or change a selection Exit Setup Mode. Setup | JetSort® 1606 interface with JetScan or JetCount | 3 Connecting Your JetSort Install Software Kit 2 and Kit 4 before connecting the JetScan (model 4062 and higher) or JetCount (model 4020 or higher). JetScan and JetCount Bilcnt must be set to AUTO or DEMND. Program JetSort to Operate with JetScan or JetCount To set bill count and print features: 1. From the SETUP menu, advance to the BILCNT menu. 2. Press PRINT to move the cursor to the bottom menu line. 3. Press TOTALS or DENOM to scroll to the desired setting: Auto Note totals appear after each sub-batch is ended. Dmnd Note totals appear only when MEDIA is pressed. Bilcnt Auto Prnt: All 4. Press START S/BAT to move the cursor to the Prnt option. 5. Press TOTALS or DENOM to scroll to the desired setting: 6. All prints totals by denomination of processed currency. 7. Total prints total of processed currency. 8. Press CLEAR to exit or continue to the next menu option by pressing PRINT, then START S/BAT. 9. Press PRINT to exit OPTIONS menu. 10. Press START S/BAT to scroll to the PORT 1 menu. 4 | JetSort® 1606 interface with JetScan or JetCount | Connecting Your JetSort Set Peripheral Device, Baud Rate, Stop Bits and Parity JetSort has four communication ports. In order to connect a JetScan or JetCount, baud rate, stop bits and parity must be set. The exact settings for baud rate, stop bits and parity are irrelevant as long as the JetSort settings match the JetScan or JetCount settings. Press PRINT to move the cursor to the bottom menu line. 2. Press TOTALS to scroll to peripheral type: JtS (JetScan) or JtC (JetCount). For more information about other peripheral types, see the JetSort 1000 Series Coin Sorter Operating Instructions. 3. Press START S/BAT to advance to Baud Rate options. 4. Press TOTALS to scroll to correct Baud Rate (see table above). 5. Press START S/BAT to advance to Stop Bits and Parity options. 6. Press TOTALS to scroll to correct Stop Bits and Parity (see table above). 7. Press CLEAR to exit. 8. Connect cable to the programmed port. PORT 1 JtC SETUP: 2400, 7, NP Connecting Your JetSort | JetSort® 1606 interface with JetScan or JetCount | 5 Set JetScan or JetCount Communication Ports To set port to match JetSort baud rate, stop bits and parity. 1. Press and hold key 15. 2. Press key 3 for the SETUP menu. 3. Press key 5 until PORT 1 STATUS menu is reached. 4. Press key 3 to bring the arrow prompt to the setting filed. 5. Press key 13 to select the desired peripheral: JetSort. 6. Press 5 to move the arrow to the next field. 7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 to set Baud Rate, Stop Bits and Parity (see table on previous page). 8. After setting the desired modes, press key 6 to exit OPTIONS menu then key 7 to exit SETUP menu. 9. Connect Cables. Pour coins from lift tray into coin hopper. 2. On the JetSort, press START BATCH. 3. On the JetScan, select a currency Operating Mode (Count, Sort or Mixed). 4. Place currency in the JetScan hopper. 5. JetScan will automatically begin processing currency and will stop to display prompts, depending on which Operating Mode is chosen. 6. The JetSort displays <ENTER> and the amount of currency processed. TOT COMPLETE 10.00 <ENTER> 7. Press ENTER to accept the currency total and display the total amount of coins and currency processed. R&C $ Batch Waiting 23.48 8. Press CONT to continue processing coins/currency or press END to finish. R&C $ Batch Ended 23.48 Retrieve JetScan Information (Single Pocket) JetSort displays running totals for all coins and currency while in the Batch Waiting condition. Press individual denomination keys from the JetSort Batch Waiting screen to view values for each denomination. To display totals on the JetScan Single-Pocket, use the following steps: 1. Press DENOM on JetScan to display totals for individual denominations. 2. Press UNIT on JetScan to alternate between total bill counts, total dollar values, denomination counts and values, and strap limit counts and values. Retrieve JetScan Information (Two Pocket) To display totals on the JetScan Two-Pocket, use the following steps: 1. Press MENU on JetScan touch screen. 2. Press BATCH to display totals. How to Use | JetSort® 1606 interface with JetScan or JetCount | 7 Strap Limits JetScan When JetScan operates in Stranger, Sort and Count Modes, JetSort displays Strap Limit messages when denomination counts exceed set limits for a denomination. Strap limits are programmed through the JetScan SETUP menu. For more information, see the JetScan Single-Pocket Operating Instructions or JetScan Two-Pocket Operating Instructions. Strap Limits JetCount JetSort contains the function to enter values for Programmable Strap Stops (PSS). When activated, the JetSort PSS function will override the JetCount strap settings. To activate PSS settings on the JetSort: 1. Press LIMITS. 2. Press DENOM to select the desired denomination. 3. Using the numeric keypad, enter the strap-limit value. 4. Press ENTER to save the setting or CLEAR to re-enter the limit. 5. Press LIMITS twice to exit and return to a Batch Ended condition. PSS Strap For: 100 $5 PSS limits are not saved in JetSort memory. Manually Enter Currency/Data To manually enter currency through the JetSort, enable "Currency" in the JetSort SETUP menu. For more information, see JetSort 1000 Series Coin Sorter Operating Instructions. 1. Press START BATCH. 2. Enter the currency amount on the numeric keypad. Press ENTER. The currency amount is displayed on the JetSort screen. 3. Press ENTER a second time to save totals and return to the Batch Waiting condition. 8 | JetSort® 1606 interface with JetScan or JetCount | How to Use Correcting Manually Entered Currency/Data If an incorrect value is entered on the keypad, but ENTER has not yet been selected, press CLEAR and re-enter the correct value. If an incorrect value is entered and ENTER has been selected, an adjustment amount must be entered. To make an adjustment to a media balance, enter on the numeric keypad the amount which must be adjusted (added or subtracted from the amount previously entered). To add the adjustment amount to the media total, press Enter. To subtract the adjustment amount from the media total, press " - ". Press Enter to record the media value and return to the Batch Waiting condition. Add to JetScan Totals through JetSort 1. From the Batch Waiting condition, press MEDIA. 2. Press DENOM to select the desired denomination. 3. Enter the total units for the desired denomination on the numeric keypad. For example, seven $10 notes are entered as 7. 4. Press ENTER. 5. Press DENOM to cycle through the denomination screens until the following screen appears: TOT COMPLETE 70.00 <ENTER> 6. To add notes to any entry, repeat steps two through seven. 7. Press ENTER to save new totals and return to Batch Waiting condition. How to Use | JetSort® 1606 interface with JetScan or JetCount | 9 Subtract from JetScan Totals through JetSort 1. From the Batch Waiting condition, press MEDIA. 2. Press DENOM to select the desired denomination. 3. Press CLEAR. JetSort will clear counts of the selected denomination. 4. Press DENOM to cycle through the denomination screens until the following screen appears: TOT COMPLETE 13.48 <ENTER> 5. Press ENTER to save new totals and return to Batch Waiting condition. Printing Reports JetSort Batch Reports will display individual or combined currency counts and values based on PRINT FORMAT (1) and PRINT FORMAT (2) settings selected through JetSort setup. Additional reports through the JetScan or JetCount interface vary depending on the options selected through setup. For more information, see machine operating instructions.
