TrolMaster HS-1 Humidistat Station
Overview
Thank you for purchasing the TrolMaster's HS-1 Humidistat Station. It is specially designed to control dehumidifiers with a 24V terminal. With the connection to Hydro-X via four data lines through the four ports on the back panel, users can utilize the HS-1 to control any dehumidifier with a 24V terminal. Choose your desired humidity setpoint for the Day / Night mode (refer to Humidity Settings in Hydro-X's instructions P19-20); the HS-1 will control the dehumidifier based on the setpoint. The LCD screen of the HS-1 will display the setpoint humidity (upper part) and current humidity (lower part). When the current measured humidity is higher than the setpoint, the HS-1 unit will control the dehumidifier to decrease the humidity to the normal setpoint.
Features
- Digital Control of Relative Humidity (digital set-point)
- LCD Display, Easy Operation
- Micro-SD for Firmware Update
- Seamless Connectivity with Hydro-X
- Control Dehumidifier based on Humidity Setpoint
Installation
To install, pull the 2 tabs outward to release the bracket from the unit. Mount the bracket to a wall or surface near the dehumidifier. Peel off the outer sheath of all signal cables of a dehumidifier to reveal the copper wire. Insert each bare wire into the corresponding terminals on the back panel while simultaneously pressing the button of the terminal designation. Release the button to clamp the wire in each terminal. Verify wire security by gently pulling on the wire. Finally, place the unit back on the bracket and press the 2 tabs back in to lock the unit in place.
Operation Instructions
1. Connection to Hydro-X
Once the signal wires are successfully connected to the HS-1 unit, connect the HS-1 to the Hydro-X with an RJ12 cable through the DEVICES socket on the bottom of the Hydro-X. After power-on, the LCD screen of the HS-1 will show “Please press Addressing Key” when connected correctly. Otherwise, it will show “Offline” when the HS-1 is connected incorrectly.
2. Address Assignment
Press the Addressing button on the HS-1 unit. The Hydro-X will then assign an address, such as H1, to the HS-1 unit. The LCD screen of the Hydro-X will display “Station H1 has been added”. Note that H1 is not a constant product code; it can be H2 depending on the connection sequence of the dehumidifier device. The first unit connected is marked as H1, the second as H2. You can check the address code on the Hydro-X by navigating to the 'Devices Status' screen.
3. FAN Setting
Press the FAN button to select ON or AUTO mode for the fan inside an air-conditioner. AUTO: Fan runs only when the heating or cooling system is on. Auto is the most commonly used setting. ON: Fan is always on. NOTE: Options may vary depending on your heating/cooling equipment.
The LCD screen displays the setpoint and current humidity. For ON mode, it might show 'Setpoint 55% On Current 58%'. For AUTO mode, it might show 'Setpoint 77°F Auto Current 71°F'.
4. Firmware Upgrade
To upgrade the firmware, press and hold the “Addressing” button while replugging the RJ12 cable. The upgrade process will be done automatically. NOTE: Ensure the firmware upgrade file is named “hs1_update.hex”.
Diagram Appendixes
HS-1 Wiring Diagram for anden
This diagram illustrates the HS-1 unit connected to multiple 'anden' dehumidifier units. The HS-1's COMP terminal (connected via a blue wire) links to the DH terminal on each 'anden' unit. The HS-1's 24VAC terminal (connected via a yellow wire) also links to the DH terminal on each unit. The HS-1's FAN terminal connects to the FLOAT SWITCH terminal on each unit. The back of the HS-1 unit shows its terminal block labeled 24VAC, COMP, and FAN.
HS-1 Wiring Diagram for Quest
This diagram shows the HS-1 unit connected to multiple 'QUEST' dehumidifier units. The HS-1's COMP terminal (blue wire) connects to the DHUM terminal on each Quest unit. The HS-1's 24VAC terminal (yellow wire) connects to the DEHU terminal on each Quest unit. The HS-1's FAN terminal is noted as not to be wired in this application. The Quest units have terminals COM, C, FAN, 24V, DEHU, DHUM, DMPR, FLOAT. The diagram includes a note: '*Note - Do not wire in "Fan" terminal with this application*'.

General Information
a) Please use TrolMaster's components for optimal performance.
b) In case of defects, the Humidistat Station will be replaced or repaired by TrolMaster within a three-year warranty from the original purchase date, using new or reconditioned products or parts. For service, return the Humidistat Station in good packaging to the agent with the original sales receipt.
c) Non-professionals should NOT open the cabinet to prevent electric shock or damage to the Humidistat Station.
WARNING: DO NOT allow the Humidistat Station to be exposed to water or excessive heat. DO NOT open or attempt to repair or disassemble the Humidistat Station, as there are no user-serviceable parts inside. Opening the controller will void the warranty.
- If the surface of the Humidistat Station is dirty, wipe it with a dry towel.
- The Control Board is designed for indoor use only and should be operated under natural ventilation conditions.
- For safety, it is necessary to connect the ground wire. If a short circuit occurs, the current would flow through the ground wire, causing a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.
- The Humidistat Station should be positioned in a place that allows it to be easily pulled out when a fault occurs.
