Prerequisites for Connecting to J.O.E.® App
Smartphone and J.O.E.® App Version Check
- Is the latest app version installed?
- Android Version: 8.0 or higher
- iOS Version: 14.0 or higher
Permissions Check
- Are Location Services for the J.O.E.® app turned ON?
- Are all permissions granted to J.O.E.®?
- Is the WLAN allowing all necessary connections?
- Is your Bluetooth ? ON?
WLAN Settings Check
- Router frequency set to 2.4 GHz (not 5 GHz).
- Channels 1 to 11 (not higher).
- Disable the 20/40 MHz Coexistence setting.
- The Wi-Fi password must be known.
Initial Setup Steps
[proceed] Connect your smartphone to the WLAN and switch on Bluetooth ?.
[proceed] Open the location settings on your smartphone.
[proceed] Always allow location access for the J.O.E.® app.
[proceed] Open the Water tank cover on your coffee machine.
[proceed] Plug the Wi-Fi Connect device into the coffee machine's service socket. (Note: Some models may already have it plugged in).
[proceed] Switch on the coffee machine.
Connecting via Coffee Machine Interface
[proceed] Press the [>] button several times to access the third page of the start screen, which displays "MENU".
[proceed] Press the [MENU] button to access the menu.
[proceed] Press the [>] button several times until "APP" is displayed.
[proceed] Press the [>] button.
[proceed] Press the [>] button to confirm the connection.
[proceed] Continue with the next step of these instructions.
Connecting via J.O.E.® App
[proceed] Open the J.O.E.® app on your smartphone.
[proceed] Touch "Machines".
[proceed] Touch "Set up new coffee machine".
[proceed] Check whether Bluetooth ? and Wi-Fi ? are active (indicated by a green outline).
[proceed] If not active, connect your device to your WLAN and ensure Bluetooth ? is switched on.
[proceed] Touch "Next".
Wi-Fi Connect and Machine Identification
[proceed] If you have already plugged in the Wi-Fi Connect, touch "Next". Otherwise, first plug in the Wi-Fi Connect as described in the initial setup.
Your coffee machine should now be displayed in the app.
[proceed] Touch "Connect".
Naming and Security Setup
[proceed] Give your coffee machine a name and touch "Next".
[proceed] Enter the desired PIN ? for security, or skip this step.
[proceed] Touch "Next".
Wi-Fi Password Entry
[proceed] Enter the Wi-Fi password. This must be the same password used to connect your smartphone to the Wi-Fi network.
[proceed] Touch "Next".
[proceed] Touch "Next" to proceed.
Finalizing Connection
[proceed] Go back to the start screen on your coffee machine. (Note: Some machines may do this automatically).
[proceed] Touch "Done" in the J.O.E.® app.
[proceed] Press the [>] button on the coffee machine to confirm the connection with J.O.E.®. You have 30 seconds to complete this confirmation.
Troubleshooting
ℹ️ If you were unable to connect, please re-check all the settings from the prerequisites section and try again.
If you continue to experience problems with the onboarding process, navigate to the J.O.E.® app, select "More" (located at the bottom right), and contact Digital Customer Support.
