Quick Start Guide
Safety Instructions
Please read the following safety instructions carefully before using the Shanling EH3 Desktop DAC Amplifier.
- Do not repair, disassemble, or modify the device without permission.
- For adequate ventilation, maintain at least 10cm clearance at the back and sides, and 20cm at the top of the player.
- Avoid water dripping or splashing onto the player. Do not place liquid-filled objects, such as vases, on the player.
- Do not cover ventilation holes with materials like newspapers, cloth, or curtains, as this can block airflow.
- Keep the device away from open flame sources, such as lit candles.
- Connect the player to an AC power outlet with grounding protection.
- If the power plug and appliance coupler are used as a disconnecting device, ensure they are easily operable.
- Dispose of waste batteries according to relevant local regulations.
- This device is intended for safe use in areas with an elevation below 2000m (See Fig. 1).
- This device is intended for safe use under non-tropical climate conditions (See Fig. 2).

Safety Precautions
Warning: Risk of electric shock. Do not open the device.
The symbol of a lightning bolt within an equilateral triangle indicates a warning about high voltages inside the player that could cause electric shock.
The symbol of an exclamation mark within an equilateral triangle indicates important operation and maintenance instructions.
Laser Warning
The laser beam can damage eyes. Do not open the enclosure; only qualified technicians should perform repairs.
This product is classified as a Class 1 laser product, as indicated on the enclosure label.
Laser components may generate radiation above the Class 1 limit.

Remote Control Diagram
The remote control allows for convenient operation:
- DAC Button: Press to use the remote. Long press to switch to standby mode.
- Play/Pause: Play or pause playback.
- Previous Track/Return: Short press for previous track, long press to rewind.
- Next Track: Short press for next track, long press to fast forward.
- Random Playback: Press the [X] button for random playback. Press [X] or [■/▲] to end.
- Repeat: Press [REP] for track repeat (display "1"), press again for disc repeat (display "C"). Press again to cancel (display "=").
- Mute: Press [MUTE] to mute audio. Press again to resume.
- Volume Control: Use [VOL +/-] buttons.
- Screen On/Off: Press [DIMMER] button.
- Input Select: Press [INPUT] button.
Note: The remote is universal for Shanling products. Ensure it is set to the correct mode. Use within 10m and a 30-degree angle. Some buttons may not function with EH3.
Operating Instructions
Turn ON/OFF
- Connect the power cord and signal cables.
- Turn the rear power switch to ON. The indicator light will cycle through colors.
- Press and hold the [/MENU] wheel for 2 seconds. The indicator turns blue, and the device powers on.
- To power off, press and hold the [/MENU] wheel for 2 seconds. The indicator turns red.
- For complete power off, switch the rear power button to OFF. Disconnect the power cable if not in use for extended periods.
Select Input Source
Press the [◀SOURCE▶] button on the unit or the [▲INPUT▼] button on the remote to cycle through inputs: USB DAC, Bluetooth, COAXIAL, OPTICAL, IIS, AUX (RCA), USB Drive.
Volume Control
Turn the volume wheel on the unit or use the [VOL +/-] buttons on the remote.
Playback Control
- Pause/Resume: Press [▶/II] on the unit or remote. The display shows "II" when paused.
- Previous Track: Press [K] or [K/◀]. If less than 3 seconds into the track, it goes to the previous track. If more than 5 seconds, it restarts the current track, then pressing again goes to the previous track.
- Next Track: Press [▶] or [▶▶/▶] to advance to the next track.
- Rewind/Fast Forward: Long press [K◀/◀◀] for rewind or [▶▶▶▶▶] for fast forward.
- Repeat: Press [REP] for track repeat (display "1"), press again for disc repeat (display "C"). Press again to cancel (display "=").
- Random Playback: Press [X]. Press [X] or [■/▲] to end.
- Mute Playback: Press [MUTE]. Press again to resume.
Menu Settings
Press the [/MENU] wheel to enter the System Settings menu. Rotate the knob to navigate and press to confirm. Press [K/⊃] to go back.
Connectivity & Features
USB DAC Mode
- Connect the EH3 to your computer via USB cable.
- Select "USB DAC" mode using the [◀SOURCE▶] button or [▲INPUT▼] remote button.
- For Windows, download and install the dedicated drivers from the Shanling website (en.shanling.com). macOS and other systems do not require drivers.
- Set "Shanling EH3" or "Shanling Audio Device" as the default audio output on your computer.
Bluetooth Input
- Switch the source to Bluetooth mode.
- Enable Bluetooth on your device and search for new devices.
- Select "Shanling EH3" from the list and pair.
SyncLink Control
Control playback and access music on a USB drive via the Eddict Player app:
- Enter Settings menu [/MENU], go to Bluetooth settings, and turn on Bluetooth.
- Enable "SyncLink" function in the settings menu.
- Connect a USB drive and select USB Drive as the input source.
- Open the Eddict Player app on your smartphone. Navigate to SyncLink function, turn on "SyncLink Controller", and select "Shanling EH3".
- Tap "Scan Music" to scan for files on the USB drive.
- Playback can now be controlled from the app.
WiFi Connection
Connect to your network and control playback via the Eddict Player app:
- Enter Settings menu [/MENU], enable Wi-Fi.
- Open the Eddict Player app, tap the menu icon "=".
- Select "Wireless Distribution Network", choose "Shanling EH3", and enter Wi-Fi password.
- On the EH3, select "Wi-Fi Configuration - One-key network configuration" and press [◀/⊃] to finish.
Firmware Update
Keep your EH3 up-to-date with the latest firmware.
OTA (Over-the-Air) Update
- Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled and connected to a network.
- Navigate to System Settings > System Update > Network Update via the [/MENU] wheel.
- The device will automatically download and install the latest firmware. Do not operate the player during the update.
USB Drive Update (Local Update)
- Download the firmware file (update.bin) from the Shanling official website.
- Copy the file to the root directory of a USB drive.
- Connect the USB drive to the EH3. Navigate to System Settings > System Update > Local Update via the [/MENU] wheel.
- Confirm the update when prompted. Do not operate the player during the update.
IIS-LVDS Input Interface
The EH3 supports various IIS-LVDS input modes. Pin definitions for ET3 Mode, Mode 1, Mode 2, Mode 3, and Mode 4 are provided, detailing DATA/DSDR, DATA/DSDL, GND, LRCK/DSDL, LRCK/DSDR, BCLK/DSDCLK, MCLK, NC, F_MUTE, and F_DSD connections.
