System Overview
The Klipsch Reference Cinema System with Dolby Atmos delivers an immersive surround sound experience. This system utilizes identical satellite speakers for both main and rear channels, ensuring seamless integration and a cohesive audio environment. It is designed to recreate a sense of space and ambiance, bringing movies and music to life.
Room Placement Recommendations
For optimal performance, Klipsch Group, Inc. (KGI) suggests specific placement for your speakers:
- Main Channel Speakers (Left & Right): Place these 6 to 15 feet (1.8 to 4.6m) apart. Slightly angling them inward can improve stereo imaging. The listening position should be approximately 1 to 1.5 times the distance separating the speakers.
- Center Channel Speakers: Position these as close to the screen as possible, either directly above or below it, to ensure dialogue and primary sounds appear to originate from the video screen.
- Rear Surround Channel Speakers: These should be placed at the same height as your main channels, ideally between 110-120 degrees from the listening position. Final placement may vary based on room characteristics.
- Subwoofer: For deep bass reproduction, place the powered subwoofer in a corner of the room on the same wall as your front channel speakers. Corner placement enhances bass output. Experiment with different placements and settings to find what best suits your room and preferences. Ensure the subwoofer's built-in amplifier can be connected to an AC power outlet.
System Connection
Connecting your system is straightforward. Use 24-14 gauge speaker wire to connect the RED "positive" (+) terminal of each speaker to the corresponding RED "positive" (+) terminal on your amplifier's channel. Similarly, connect the BLACK "negative" (-) terminal of each speaker to the BLACK "negative" (-) terminal of the amplifier's channel. Ensure no bare wires touch other terminals to prevent short circuits and equipment damage.
Klipsch speakers are highly efficient and compatible with a wide range of amplifiers. They are 8-ohm compatible and can produce high output levels with low distortion. Exercise caution with volume levels to protect your hearing and the speakers. Consult your dealer or amplifier manual to ensure compatibility.
Subwoofer Controls and Connections
Ensure the subwoofer is unplugged from the AC wall outlet before making any connections.
- “LINE IN” Connection: Connect the subwoofer's line input (LEFT/LFE) to your receiver's Subwoofer Pre Out, Sub Out, or SW Out. If your receiver lacks a subwoofer output, you can use the Left and Right channel Pre-Amp Outputs from your receiver to the subwoofer's Left/LFE and Right inputs.
- “LOWPASS” Control: This setting determines the crossover point where low bass frequencies are handed off from the speakers to the subwoofer. For floorstanding speakers, set between 50Hz-90Hz. For smaller bookshelf or satellite speakers, set between 90Hz-150Hz. If your receiver does not have a crossover setting, use the subwoofer's Lowpass Filter control.
- Level: Adjust the subwoofer's volume (gain) to match the output of your main speakers. Once set, your system's main amplifier or pre-amplifier will control the overall volume.
- “PHASE” 0/180: Use this control to acoustically match the subwoofer's output to your main speakers. Select the position (0° or 180°) that provides more bass output at the listening position.
- Off/Auto/On: The “AUTO” position allows the subwoofer to turn on automatically when it senses a signal and enter standby mode after 15-20 minutes of inactivity. The “On” position keeps the subwoofer powered on until manually switched. The “OFF” position keeps it powered off.
- Power LED Indicator: A green LED indicates the amplifier is on and receiving a signal. A dark LED indicates the amplifier is off.
