Introduction
This document provides instructions for the Brookstone Self-Setting Clock, featuring Timesmart™ technology. It covers setup, operation, safety precautions, and warranty information.

⚠️ The lightning flash with arrow-head symbol within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated “dangerous voltage” within the unit's enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock.

All the safety and operating instructions should be read, adhered to and followed before the unit is operated.

DANGER
To reduce the risk of electric shock, burns, fire or injury:
- Do not use while bathing or in a shower.
- Do not place or store unit where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink.
- Do not place in or drop into water or other liquid.
- Do not reach for unit that has fallen into water. Unplug it immediately.
- Care should be taken so that objects do not fall and liquids are not spilled onto the unit.
WARNING
- Close supervision is necessary when this unit is used by or near children.
- Use this unit only for its intended use as described in this manual.
- Unplug this unit during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
- Never drop or insert an object into any opening.
- Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plug outlets, convenience receptacles and the point where it exits the unit.
- Do not allow cord to touch hot surfaces. Wrap cord loosely around the unit when storing.
- The unit should be situated away from direct sunlight or heat sources such as radiators, electric heaters, heat registers, stoves, or other units (including amplifiers) that produce heat. Avoid placing on top of stereo equipment that radiates heat.
- Never block the air openings of the unit with materials such as clothing, plastic bags or papers, or place it on a soft surface such as a bed or couch, where the air openings may be blocked.
- Do not overload electrical outlet. Use only the power source as indicated.
- Do not carry this unit by cord or use cord as handle.
- Never operate this unit if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, or if it has been dropped or damaged, or dropped into water. If the unit's power supply cord or plug is damaged, do not attempt to fix it yourself.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble or attempt to repair the unit. Incorrect repair can cause risk of electric shock or injury to persons when unit is used.
- Do not operate in the presence of explosive and/or flammable fumes.

Operation
Plugging in Your Clock for the First Time
- Plug the DC 8V ADAPTER (included) into a power outlet.
- Upon first connection, the clock automatically sets the correct time and date for the Eastern Time Zone. The display will scan briefly before showing the correct time and date.
- To change to a different time zone, adjust the TIME ZONE switch on the bottom of the clock. The clock will remember this setting.
Programmed Time Zones:
- A—Atlantic Time
- E—Eastern Time (Default Setting)
- C—Central Time
- M—Mountain Time
- P—Pacific Time
- H—Hawaiian Time
To change the time zone: Open the CONTROL COMPARTMENT COVER, adjust the TIME ZONE switch, and close the cover.
Setting the 12/24 Time Format
The 12-hour format is the default. To change:
- Open the CONTROL COMPARTMENT COVER.
- Adjust the 12/24 TIME FORMAT switch to the desired format.
- Close the CONTROL COMPARTMENT COVER.
Setting the Daylight Savings Time (DST)
To adjust DST settings:
- Open the CONTROL COMPARTMENT COVER.
- Adjust the DST switch to either AUTO or OFF.
- AUTO: The unit automatically adjusts for DST, advancing 1 hour on the second Sunday in March and falling back 1 hour on the first Sunday in November at 2:00 AM.
- OFF: No automatic DST adjustments will occur.
Note: If DST dates change, manual adjustment may be required.
Close the CONTROL COMPARTMENT COVER.
Adjusting the Backlight
There are 5 backlight settings: HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW, DIM, and OFF.
- Press and hold the SNOOZE button for 3 seconds to cycle through backlight settings. The setting changes every 3 seconds while the button is held.
- If the backlight is set to OFF, a single press of the SNOOZE bar will temporarily illuminate the backlight to LOW for 5 seconds for time checking.
Note: If the backlight is OFF when the alarm sounds or during Snooze, it will automatically illuminate on LOW and remain on during Snooze.
Setting and Activating the Alarm
- Press and hold the MODE button for 2 seconds to enter Alarm Set mode. Alarm 1 time will flash.
- Use the FORWARD/BACK buttons to scroll to the desired alarm time. Holding the buttons accelerates scrolling.
- Press the MODE button to save Alarm 1 time. Alarm 2 time will flash.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 for Alarm 2.
- If MODE is not pressed after setting alarms, the information will be saved after 5 seconds.
- Activate alarms by pressing the ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 buttons to the "up" position. The alarm icon and information will appear on the display.
Note: The buzzer volume increases incrementally, reaching its loudest setting in 30 seconds.
Deactivating the Alarm
- Ensure the ALARM 1 and/or ALARM 2 button is in the "up" position to activate the alarm.
- When the alarm sounds, press the ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 button into its "down" position to shut it off.
- If the alarm is not turned off or the SNOOZE button is not pressed, the buzzer will sound for 20 minutes before automatically resetting for the following day.
Using Snooze
- When the alarm is sounding, press the SNOOZE button to activate Snooze.
- The alarm will sound again in 10 minutes. This can be repeated up to 6 times.
- After the 6th Snooze, the alarm will sound for 20 minutes if not manually turned off, then reset for the following day.
- During Snooze, the alarm icon will blink.
- If the backlight is set to OFF, it will illuminate on LOW during Snooze.
Manually Setting the Time and Date
- Open the CONTROL COMPARTMENT COVER on the bottom of the clock.
- Slide the LOCK, TIME/DATE switch to TIME/DATE. The time digits will flash.
- Use the FORWARD/BACK buttons to set the desired time. Hold buttons to accelerate.
- Press the MODE button to save the time and enter date setting mode. The month will flash.
- Use the FORWARD/BACK buttons to set the desired month. Hold buttons to accelerate.
- Press the MODE button to save the month and enter day setting mode. The day will flash.
- Use the FORWARD/BACK buttons to set the desired day. Hold buttons to accelerate.
- Press the MODE button to save the day and enter year setting mode. The year will flash.
- Use the FORWARD/BACK buttons to set the desired year. Hold buttons to accelerate.
- Slide the LOCK, TIME/DATE switch back to LOCK to save the time and date and return to normal operation. Close the CONTROL COMPARTMENT COVER.
Reset
If the clock is not functioning correctly, use the RESET function. Activating RESET reverts the date and time to January 1, 2008, 12:00 AM.
- Open the CONTROL COMPARTMENT COVER.
- Press the RESET button with a pointed object. The clock will reset.
Note: After manually setting the correct date and time, the clock will resume automatic setting after a power interruption.
- Close the CONTROL COMPARTMENT COVER.
Installing the Back-up Battery
When the back-up CR2430 battery is low, a low battery icon [battery-icon] will display.
Note: To avoid manual resetting, replace the battery while the clock is plugged in.
- Remove the screw on the BATTERY COMPARTMENT door and lift the cover.
- Insert one new CR2430 button cell battery, observing the polarity indicator.
- Replace the BATTERY COMPARTMENT door and secure the screw.

One (1) Year Limited Warranty
Brookstone warrants this product against defects in materials and/or workmanship under normal use for ONE (1) YEAR from the date of purchase by the original purchaser.
Obtaining Service:
Contact Brookstone Limited Warranty Service at 1-800-292-9819. Be prepared to describe the product and the issue. A purchase receipt is required. All repairs and replacements must be authorized in advance. Service options, parts availability, and response times may vary. The purchaser is responsible for delivery and the cost of delivery of the product or parts to the authorized service center.
Limits and Exclusions:
Coverage is limited to the United States, including its territories. This warranty applies only to products manufactured for Brookstone. Brookstone disclaims all other warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. This warranty does not apply to:
- Damage caused by failure to follow instructions.
- Damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, fire, floods, earthquake, or other external causes.
- Damage caused by service performed by anyone not a representative of Brookstone.
- Accessories used with the product.
- Products modified to alter functionality.
- Items intended for periodic replacement (e.g., batteries, light bulbs).
- Products sold "as is," including demonstration or refurbished models.
- Products used commercially or for a commercial purpose.
Brookstone is not liable for incidental or consequential damages. Some states may not allow limitations on implied warranties or consequential damages.
