5-1. File Conversion Function

This function handles conversion between text files and data files across different platforms.

Conversion Methods:

  • Text Mode Conversion: Conversion between fixed-length and variable-length record files on mainframe/off-con and text files on Linux/Solaris, Windows.
  • Data File Conversion: Conversion between various file formats including data files (binary files transferred from mainframes), COBOL files on Linux/Solaris, and RDB loader format files (supporting Symfoware, Oracle, Informix).

Definitions are made using COBOL's record description statements, referred to as record layout definition statements.

5-2. Character Code Conversion Function

TF-MDPORT supports conversion paths for various character code systems, including EUC, Shift JIS, JIS, EBCDIC (Kana)+JEF, EBCDIC (Kana)+Other Kanji Codes, and Unicode.
