This manual provides information for operating the Casio 3238 watch. Sample displays use dark figures on a light background. Button operations are indicated by letters. Each section covers specific modes, with further details in the 'Reference' section.

General Guide

Press the mode button to change modes. Press the illumination button (B) to light up the display for about one second. Holding the home button (A) for about one second returns to the Timekeeping Mode.

Timekeeping Mode

Use the Timekeeping Mode to set and view the current time and date.

To set the time and date:

  1. In Timekeeping Mode, press and hold A until seconds flash.
  2. Press C to cycle through settings: Seconds, Hour, Minutes, Day, Month, Year.
  3. While a setting flashes, press D to increase it. Pressing D when seconds are 30-59 resets them to 00 and adds 1 to minutes.
  4. Press A to exit.

The day of the week is set automatically. The year can be set from 2000 to 2099. The auto-calendar is pre-programmed.

To toggle between 12-hour and 24-hour timekeeping:

In Timekeeping Mode, press C to switch between 12-hour (P indicator for PM) and 24-hour formats. This setting applies to all modes.

Alarms

The watch features up to five multi-function alarms (hour, minutes, month, day). One alarm can be a snooze alarm, the others are one-time. An Hourly Time Signal can also be activated.

Alarm Types:

To set an alarm time:

  1. In Alarm Mode, use C to select the alarm screen (1 for snooze, 2-5 for one-time).
  2. Hold A until the hour setting flashes. This also turns the alarm on.
  3. Press C to cycle through settings: Hour, Minutes, Month, Day.
  4. While a setting flashes, press D to increase it. Special settings exist for alarms without month or day specified (use '-' for month/day).
  5. Press A to exit.

Alarm Operation: Alarm tone sounds for 10 seconds. For snooze alarms, it repeats every 5 minutes up to seven times. Press any button to stop the alarm. Certain operations cancel the snooze interval.

To test the alarm:

In Alarm Mode, hold down D to sound the alarm.

To turn Alarms 2-5 and Hourly Time Signal on/off:

  1. In Alarm Mode, use C to select the desired alarm (2-5) or Hourly Time Signal (:00).
  2. Press A to toggle on/off. Indicators appear in all modes when alarms/signal are active.

To select the operation of Alarm 1:

  1. In Alarm Mode, select Alarm 1.
  2. Press A to cycle through: Alarm off, One-time alarm on, Snooze alarm on. Indicators (ALM, SNZ) show the status.

Countdown Timer

The countdown timer can be set from 1 minute to 24 hours. An alarm sounds when the countdown reaches zero. Auto-repeat restarts the countdown automatically.

To use the countdown timer:

Press C in Countdown Timer Mode to start. Press C to pause/resume. Press and hold A to stop and reset.

To set the countdown start time:

  1. In Countdown Timer Mode, hold A until the hours setting flashes.
  2. Press C to switch between hours and minutes.
  3. Press D to increase the setting. Set 24 hours by entering 0:00.
  4. Press A to exit.

To turn auto-repeat on and off:

  1. In Countdown Timer Mode, hold A until the hours setting flashes.
  2. Press B to toggle auto-repeat on (A.RPT displayed) or off. Note: Pressing B also activates illumination.

Stopwatch

The stopwatch measures elapsed time, split times, and two finishes. It measures up to 23 hours, 59 minutes, 59.99 seconds. Measurement continues even if you exit Stopwatch Mode.

To measure times with the stopwatch:

Dual Time

The Dual Time Mode allows tracking of time in a different time zone. The seconds are synchronized with the Timekeeping Mode.

To set the Dual Time:

  1. Enter Dual Time Mode by pressing C.
  2. Hold A until the hour setting flashes.
  3. Press C to switch between Hour and Minutes settings.
  4. Press D to increase the setting.
  5. Press A to exit.

Illumination

An LED and light guide panel illuminate the display for easy reading in the dark. Illumination may be difficult to see in direct sunlight and turns off automatically if an alarm sounds. Frequent use reduces battery life.

To illuminate the display:

In any mode, press B to illuminate the display for about one second.
