Introduction
This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation of the Humminbird MEGA Live 2 transducer. It details the necessary steps for mounting the transducer on compatible Minn Kota trolling motors, connecting it to your fish finder, and ensuring proper setup for optimal performance.
Before beginning the installation, it is recommended that the Humminbird fish finder and Minn Kota trolling motor are already installed. The MEGA Live 2 transducer can be connected directly to the fish finder or through a Humminbird Ethernet Switch for networking purposes. Refer to the Ethernet Switch installation instructions for details on setting up the network.
Compatibility
The MEGA Live 2 transducer is compatible with Humminbird's XPLORE™ Series and APEX™ Series fish finders, as well as SOLIX® Series G3 fish finders. It can be mounted on all Minn Kota Ultrex trolling motors and Minn Kota Fortrex trolling motors.
Note: A GPS heading sensor (compass) is required to utilize the navigation features of the MEGA Live 2.
Supplies and Accessories
In addition to the included hardware, you will need supplies such as cable ties, a 2 Amp fuse, and a multi-bit screwdriver. Optional accessories like a Humminbird Heading Sensor GPS Puck or NMEA 2000 GPS Heading Sensor are recommended for enhanced functionality. For the most current list of compatible accessories, visit the Humminbird website.
Software Updates
Ensure your fish finder has the latest software update to enable all MEGA Live 2 features. Software updates can be downloaded from the Humminbird website at humminbird.johnsonoutdoors.com. Follow the on-screen prompts to update your fish finder and accessory software using an SD or microSD card.
Installation Steps
The guide outlines the process of installing the trolling motor mount, including preparing the installation area, attaching the landscape mode mount to the shaft mount, and ensuring proper clearance for the transducer's view.
Important Considerations
- The MEGA Live 2 transducer requires a separate power connection, which should be routed through a switch for on/off control when the boat is underway or docked.
- Cables should be routed through established pathways on the boat, avoiding sharp edges and potential damage. Allow sufficient cable length for the movement of the trolling motor.
- Ensure that nothing obstructs the transducer's beams during deployment.
