Installation Steps
- Remove passenger and rider seat (key) ?.
- Remove black plastic panel cover directly mounted above tail light. Use two center-push plastic fasteners and a small screwdriver to remove. Slide cover rearwards and up to remove.
- Remove rear side fairings. Use three quarter-turn plastic fasteners along the underside, two bolts along the underside (1 rearward and 1 forward), and three bolts along the upper side fairing. Use a 4mm allen for the bolts and a Philips screwdriver for the quarter-turn plastic fasteners. Pivot the forward end of the fairing outwards, then slide rearwards to disengage from the tab on the tail light. Repeat on the other side.
- Locate the left and right turn signal plugs (2-wire white and black) as well as the license light plug (2-wire light grey) beneath the seat support cross over bracket. Unplug them. Un-route them from their cable management clips.
- Remove the rear fender. Use two M8 bolts from each side with a 12mm socket. Support the fender on the last bolt and carefully pull it down. Disconnect the three wire plugs from step 4 above. These M8 bolts will no longer be used.
- Mount the LED license plate light to the Plate Holder by feeding the wires one at a time through the center hole. Secure using the two nuts/washers with a 7mm socket. Ensure LEDs are facing down and do NOT over tighten.
- Attach the license plate light adapter harness to the LED plate light. Connect the white wire to white and the black wire to black. Feed the harness up through the slotted-squared opening above on the Plate Holder.
OPTIONAL ATTACH EXTERNAL TURN SIGNALS (SEE BELOW)
- Mount the Plate Holder to the Cover Plate using four M5x12mm bolts, M5 washers, and M5 lock nuts. Ensure the Cover Plate is oriented so that the foam padding end faces the rear of the bike and that the wires are captured within the slot area formed where the Plate Holder and Cover Plate meet. Use a 3mm allen and 8mm socket.
- While feeding the license plate light harness (and optional turn signal harness) through the rectangular opening in the bike's center under tail, mount the Plate Holder assembly from step 8 above to the bike's subframe in the same location where the factory fender was removed. Use four M8x20mm bolts and M8 washers, using a 5mm allen. Apply a drop of blue Loctite or medium strength thread locker on these bolts.
- Re-route the license plate light wire (and optional turn signal wires) and plug it back into the bike.
- Re-install side rear fairings, panel cover above tail lamp, and seats.
- Test all lighting functions before going on a road test.
Installing Factory Turn Signals
- Rear fender disassembly to extract turn signals. Use four bolts from the top with a 5mm allen. Pivot the left and right metal arms outwards to release the center plastic cover. The arms can then be removed completely from the fender assembly.
- Flip the assembly over to access the back side of the turn signals. It is locked in place by a plastic locking tab. Use a small screwdriver to pop it out. The turn signals can then pop out from their socket by pivoting them forward and backwards. Pull them out along with the wires.
- Reinstall turn signals onto the factory turn signal brackets in the reverse order of removal.
- Mount factory turn signal adapters to license plate mounting holes on the plate holder using four M6x16mm allen bolts, M6 large OD washers, and M6 nuts. The connection order is: Bolt > License plate > Plate Holder > Adapter > Washer > Nut.
Installing Aftermarket In-hole Turn Signals
- Mount the aftermarket signal onto the aftermarket turn signal brackets, but do not fully tighten.
- Mount the adapter on the upper holes of the license plate using two M6x16mm bolts, M6 larger OD washers, and M6 lock nuts.
- Clock the turn signal so that it faces the rear, then tighten.
- Most aftermarket turn signals will require additional wiring.
