6. Washing Hints
6.1 Sorting The Laundry
Follow garment labels. Sort by: whites, coloureds, synthetics, delicates, woollens.
6.2 Temperatures
- 90°C: Normally soiled white cottons/linen (towels, sheets).
- 60°C: Normally soiled, colourfast garments (shirts, pajamas) in cotton/synthetics; lightly soiled whites.
- 40°C: Delicates (net curtains), mixed laundry, woollens (machine washable, non-shrink).
- 30°C: As 40°C.
- Cold: As 40°C.
6.3 Before Loading The Laundry
Remove metal objects (coins, pins). Wash delicates (bras, pantyhose) in a mesh bag. Wash lint collectors separately. Never wash whites and colours together. Wash new coloured items separately first. Treat stains before washing. Rub soiled areas with detergent paste. Treat curtains carefully (remove hooks or tie up).
6.4 Maximum Loads
Refer to program charts. General rules: Cotton/linen - drum full but not packed; Synthetics - drum no more than half full; Delicates/woollens - drum no more than one third full. Full loads save water/energy. Reduce load for heavily soiled items. Button up pillowcases, close zips/hooks, tie belts.
6.5 Removing Stains
Treat stains before washing. Blood: cold water for fresh, soak in detergent for dried. Oil-based paint: benzine, dab. Dried grease: turpentine, dab. Mould: bleach (whites/fast colours). Grass: soap, bleach (whites/fast colours). Ball point pen/glue: acetone (*), dab. Lipstick: acetone (*), then methylated spirits. Red wine: soak, rinse, acetic/citric acid. Ink: acetone (*), then acetic acid. Tar: stain remover, spirits, benzine. (*) Do not use acetone on artificial silk.
6.6 Detergents Type And Quantity Of Detergent
Use low sudsing, front-loading detergent (HE, "Front Loading", "Matic"). Do not use top-loading, handwash, or soap-based detergents. Quantity depends on fabric type, colour, load size, soil degree, wash temperature, and water hardness. Not enough detergent causes greying/greasy clothes. Too much causes sudsing, poor washing/rinsing. Use less detergent for small loads, light soil, or if excessive foam occurs.
7. International Wash Code Symbols
Description of symbols found on fabric labels:
- Wash: Energetic wash (95°C), Max. wash (60°C), Max. wash (40°C), Max. wash (30°C), Hand wash, DO NOT wash.

Remove drawer by pressing catch. Clean compartments (Prewash, Main Wash, Softener) under tap. Remove softener compartment top part for thorough cleaning. Clean drawer recess with a brush to remove residue. Replace drawer and run rinse program.
8.7 Cleaning The Pump
Clean pump if appliance doesn't drain, drum won't turn, unusual noise, or alarm code for drainage issues. WARNING: Disconnect plug. Water must be cold. Open drain pump door. Place container below to collect water. Use drainage duct to release water. Repeat until no more water flows. Remove fluff/objects. Ensure impeller turns. Clean filter under tap. Reinstall filter correctly (tighten). Close drain pump door.
8.8 Cleaning The Water Inlet Filter
Clean filter if water is hard or has lime deposits. Close water tap. Remove inlet hose from tap. Clean filter in hose with brush. Remove hose from appliance. Clean filter in valve with brush/towel. Reinstall hose, ensure tight connections. Open water tap.
8.9 Frost Precautions
If temperature is below 0°C, remove water from inlet hose and drain pump. Emergency Drain: Disconnect plug, turn off tap. Remove inlet/drain hoses, place ends in container. Let water flow out. Reinstall hoses. Ensure temperature is above 0°C before next use.
9. Troubleshooting
Check simple maintenance/oversights before calling Service. Deactivate appliance before checks. Press Start/Pause to restart after fixing.
9.1 Possible Failures
- Machine does not start: Door not closed (?), plug not inserted, no power, Start/Pause not pressed, "Delay End" selected. Solutions: Close door, insert plug, check installation, press Start/Pause, cancel Delay End.
- Machine does not fill: Main supply unstable, water tap closed (?), inlet hose kinked (?), inlet hose filter blocked (?). Solutions: Wait for stable supply, open tap, check hose, clean filter.
- Machine fills then empties immediately: Door not closed (?), end of drain hose too low (?). Solutions: Close door, check drain hose position.
- Machine does not empty/spin: Drain hose kinked (?), drain pump clogged (?), "Rinse Hold" selected (?➡️). Solutions: Check hose, clean pump, press Start/Pause or select spin program.
- Laundry not evenly distributed/noisy: Too much/unsuitable detergent (foam), machine unbalance, very little laundry, unstable floor. Solutions: Redistribute laundry, reduce/change detergent, load more laundry, level appliance.
- Water on floor: Leaks from inlet hose fittings, damaged drain hose. Solutions: Check fittings, call Service for drain hose.
- Unsatisfactory washing results: Stubborn stains not treated, incorrect temperature, excessive load, detergent overdose. Solutions: Treat stains, select correct temp, reduce load, reduce/change detergent.
- Door will not open: Program running, water hot/high level, drum rotating. Solutions: Pause, wait for lock icon (?) off, drain water if necessary. Emergency opening procedure (page 32).
- Cycle time longer/shorter than displayed: Electronic load sensing adjusts time.
- Spinning starts late/machine does not spin: Electronic unbalance detection, load redistribution. Solutions: Redistribute load manually, select spin program.
- Machine makes unusual noise: Transit bolts/packaging not removed, machine not installed properly. Solutions: Remove packaging, level appliance.
- No water visible in drum: Modern machines use less water economically.
Contact Service if problem persists. Note Model, PNC, Serial Number.
