Care & Maintenance Guide
General Tips
- ADP products are produced from materials well suited to the bathroom. Ensure sufficient ventilation to avoid excessive moisture. High humidity can lead to permanent dampness and mould, causing material deterioration.
- Always dry any excessive moisture or water spillage promptly.
Cabinets
- To maintain the finish, use only a soft cloth and a weak solution of non-abrasive detergent.
- For scratches or marks on two-pack polyurethane finishes, rub gently with car cutting compound, car polish, or household brass/silver cleaner.
- Cabinet materials are water/moisture-resistant, but not waterproof.
- Install cabinets at least 300mm away from showers or bathtubs to prevent water damage.
Cast Marble & Acrylic
- To maintain the finish, use only a soft cloth and a weak solution of non-abrasive detergent.
- For scratches or marks, rub gently with car cutting compound, car polish, or household brass/silver cleaner.
Ceramic Basins & Tops
- To maintain the finish, use only a soft cloth and a weak solution of non-abrasive detergent.
- Due to the glazed surface, scratches on ceramic tops cannot be repaired or removed.
- As ceramic is a handcrafted product fired at high temperatures, some visual distortion may occur. This is not a defect but adds to the product's beauty.
Solid Surface, Cherry Pie, Durasein, Caesarstone
- Wipe clean with a soft damp cloth or sponge ?.
- For basic stains, use mild detergents. For gloss and semi-gloss surfaces, use a non-abrasive polish or Brasso. For matte surfaces, use a scourer pad or Scotch-Brite to maintain the matte finish.
- Cherry Pie, Durasein, and Caesarstone benchtops offer excellent heat and chemical resistance. However, to preserve the surface and prevent damage from heat, do not place hot items directly on the surface. Prolonged exposure to extreme heat can cause permanent damage.
Mirrors
For Best Results: Use a slightly moistened microfibre cloth to remove dry dirt or grime, then buff clean with a dry microfibre cloth or a soft, dry cloth with a tight weave. This ensures a clean, smear-free finish. Using alkaline (ammonia) or acid (vinegar) based products risks damaging the silvered backing and may leave streaks.
Do Not: Use ammonia-based cleaning products like glass cleaner, as they can erode the mirror's silver backing. Always read cleaning product labels before use.
Protection Against 'Black-Spotting': Alkaline, acid, and moisture can cause the mirror's silvered backing to darken ('black-spotting'). To protect against this, regularly oil any exposed edges (polished or bevelled) with non-petroleum-based oils (e.g., sewing machine oil). This acts as a seal. Always keep mirrors dry and wipe off water, moisture, or steam promptly.
Ventilation
Let's talk bathroom ventilation
Good bathroom ventilation saves money and keeps your family healthy by preventing mould, a significant problem in poorly ventilated bathrooms. This guide covers essential ventilation information.

Why ventilation is so important
Adequate ventilation is crucial for bathroom products like vanities and mirrors. While water-resistant, they are not waterproof. Preventing moisture buildup ensures products last longer and saves money. Good ventilation also lowers humidity, minimizing bacteria growth, preventing mould and mildew, and improving respiratory health.
Signs of poor ventilation
- The earliest sign is black spotting on mirrors ?. Insufficient ventilation causes steam/humidity to rise, leading to mirror fogging and eventual black spots or corrosion.
- Other signs include paint flaking on ceilings, bubbling paint on fixtures, and furniture swelling.
- Evidence of mould or mildew indicates inadequate ventilation.
How to achieve good ventilation
The best indicators of sufficient ventilation are mirrors that don't steam up and dry tiled walls. The most effective method is a correctly sized exhaust fan ? (approximately 50 cfm per toilet ? and 50 cfm per shower ? or bath). The fan should exhaust air outdoors, not into walls, to prevent moisture and mould issues within wall cavities. Run the fan during water use and for about 15 minutes after showering.
Opening a bathroom window ? daily, even in winter, in addition to using the exhaust fan, helps keep the bathroom fresh and mould-free.
Enjoy your well-ventilated, mould-free bathroom for years to come!
