Upgrading / updating the HAMILTON-T1 software to version 2.1.4

Introduction

This guide describes how to upgrade / update the HAMILTON-T1 ventilator to software version 2.1.4. If you have any questions, contact us at techsupport@hamilton-medical.ch.

NOTE

  • Only Service Engineers trained and authorized by Hamilton Medical are allowed to perform any software updates.
  • After successful completion of the update / upgrade process, the ventilator must be fully recalibrated as described in the latest Service Manual, PN 624393.
  • Once upgraded / updated to SW 2.1.4, a downgrade to a lower SW version is not possible.
  • Configuration settings generated with SW 1.x.x cannot be imported in SW 2.x.x. Write down ventilator settings for later use.

Requirements

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • Fully functional HAMILTON-T1
  • USB memory stick (FAT32 formatted)
  • Hamilton Medical Partner-net login. If you do not have a login, register first at www.hamilton-medical.com.

Download the software upgrade / update files

  1. Connect a USB memory stick to your computer.
  2. Log in to the Partner-net at www.hamilton-medical.com.
  3. Navigate to Technical Support -> Software Updates. Note that access to the download area is tracked.
  4. Click the HAMILTON-T1 link.
  5. Read the contents and click the [checkbox] check box.
  6. Do the following for each of the required files:
    • Right-click the link and select "Save target as".
    • Navigate to the top level of the USB stick and click "Save".

Links to the following two files are displayed. The following files are required:

For HAMILTON-T1 SN < 3000Description
T1_V2.1.1-Migration.tarThis file is required to upgrade SW version 1.x.x to 2.1.1.
T1_EM01A_V2.1.4.tarThis file is required to update SW version 2.1.x to 2.1.4.
For HAMILTON-T1 SN > 3000Description
T1_EM10A_V2.1.4.tarThis file is required to update SW version 2.1.x to 2.1.4.

A. To upgrade SW 1.x.x to 2.1.4 (For HAMILTON-T1 SN<3000)

  1. Turn on the HAMILTON-T1.
  2. Write down ventilator settings for later use.
  3. Access Configuration mode on the ventilator, and write down the hospital-specific settings on each Configuration screen for later use. For details, see the "Configuration" chapter in the HAMILTON-T1 Operator's Manual.
  4. Restart the ventilator in Service mode.
  5. Touch the SW update button on the main screen to display the SW update page 5101.
  6. Insert the USB memory stick containing the downloaded migration and upgrade files.
    • If the ventilator detects the correct files at the top level of the USB device, a message appears showing available software versions.
    • If the ventilator cannot detect the files, the message "No Update Tarball File is available" appears.
  7. Select the migration file, T1_V2.1.1-Migration.tar, and touch the Start button. The system installs the upgrade. A progress bar indicates the current status. When finished, the text "Done" is displayed.
  8. Turn the ventilator off and on to restart it. It starts automatically in Service mode.
  9. Touch the SW update button on the main screen to display the SW update page 5101.
  10. Select the software update file, T1_EM01A_V2.1.4.tar, and touch the Start button. When finished, the text "Done" is displayed.
  11. Restart the ventilator in Service mode.
  12. Enter the technical state ->HW version (Page 1102) and touch the Clean-Up button to update the technical state.
  13. Restart the ventilator in Service mode.
  14. Perform a complete service software calibration and related tests according the service manual.

B. To update SW 2.1.x to 2.1.4 (For HAMILTON-T1 SN<3000)

  1. Turn on the ventilator in Service mode.
  2. Touch the SW update button on the main screen to display the SW update page 5101.
  3. Insert the USB memory stick containing the downloaded migration and upgrade files.
    • If the ventilator detects the correct files at the top level of the USB device, a message appears showing available software versions.
    • If the ventilator cannot detect the files, the message "No Update Tarball File is available" appears.
  4. Select the software update file, T1_EM01A_V2.1.4.tar, and touch the Start button. When finished, the text "Done" is displayed.
  5. Restart the ventilator in Service mode.
  6. Enter the technical state ->HW version (Page 1102). Touch the Clean-Up button (only if the button appears) to update the technical state.
  7. Restart the ventilator in Service mode.
  8. Perform a complete service software calibration and related tests according the latest service manual.

C. To update SW 2.1.x to 2.1.4 (For HAMILTON-T1 SN>3000)

  1. Turn on the ventilator in Service mode.
  2. Touch the SW update button on the main screen to display the SW update page 5101.
  3. Insert the USB memory stick containing the downloaded migration and upgrade files.
    • If the ventilator detects the correct files at the top level of the USB device, a message appears showing available software versions.
    • If the ventilator cannot detect the files, the message "No Update Tarball File is available" appears.
  4. Select the software update file, T1_EM10A_V2.1.4.tar, and touch the Start button. When finished, the text "Done" is displayed.
  5. Restart the ventilator in Service mode.
  6. Perform a complete service software calibration and related tests according the service manual.

The following functions may not be approved in all countries. It is your responsibility to verify that the functions, which you will activate with the key below, are approved in your country. Make sure that these functions are fully described in the operator's manual and will be provided to the customer. Activating the function constitutes your acceptance of our terms and conditions.

Suctioning Tool

Ask the clinicians whether they are using open suctioning or closed suctioning systems. In case the hospital is using open suctioning systems and would like to benefit from the suctioning tool enable it by entering the Configuration menu (access code 7132) and entering the corresponding code under the menu Options.

PSIMV+ IntelliSync

The PSIMV+ IntelliSync is per default disabled after upgrade / update. To enable the functionality enter the Configuration menu (access code 7132) and enter the corresponding code under the menu Options.

O2 consumption display

The O2 consumption display is per default disabled after upgrade/update with the software version 2.1.1. To activate the O2 consumption display enter the Configuration menu (access code 7132) and type in the following code under the menu Options.
