Temperzone ISD 230K / OSA 230RKTH Ducted Split System Air Conditioner
Technical Data
General Information
The ISD indoor unit, combined with the associated OSA outdoor unit, forms a reverse cycle (heat pump) split system air conditioner. It is designed and developed to comply with AS/NZS 3823 specified conditions and has been tested for cooling operation in outdoor temperatures up to 50°C.
Applications: These units are suitable for air conditioning light commercial and residential premises such as offices, motels, shops, and homes.
Features
- Refrigerant R410A: Uses refrigerant R410A, which has zero ozone depletion potential.
- Efficient: Features a high-efficiency scroll compressor and heat exchange coils with inner grooved (rifled) tubes for improved heat transfer.
- Performance: Equipped with a dynamically balanced forward-curved fan and a multi-speed motor for precise air flow adjustment. Includes a temperature-sensing head pressure control for compensation of outdoor ambient temperatures.
- Quiet Operation: The compressor is housed in a sound-insulated compartment, and the indoor unit is also insulated to minimize noise.
- Slimline Design: The compact, upright design of the outdoor unit allows for minimal side clearance (150 mm) when installed against a wall, making it practical for restricted spaces. Vertical discharge grilles are available to deflect prevailing winds and reduce clearances. The unit can be free-standing or wall-mounted using optional brackets.
- Durable Construction: Outdoor coil fins are epoxy-coated for protection against corrosive environments. The outdoor unit cabinet is made of high-grade galvanized steel with a polyester powder coating (grey) for weather resistance (IP 45). External fasteners are stainless steel. Heat exchange coils use aluminum plate fins on mechanically expanded rifled copper tubes. The indoor unit cabinet is constructed from high-grade galvanized steel with a plastic drain tray for corrosion resistance.
- Service Access: The indoor unit's drain tray is removable for easy cleaning and service.
- Insulation: Closed-cell foam insulation with a foil facing is used in the indoor unit's cabinet to prevent particle release into the airstream. The insulation meets fire test standards AS 1530.3 (1989) and BS 476 parts 6 & 7.
- Mounting: The indoor unit can be mounted rigidly or using optional spring mounting brackets to minimize vibration transfer.
- Self Diagnostics: The Outdoor Unit Controller (OUC) features LEDs to indicate faults and operating conditions, with a non-specific fault indicator for external system interface.
Optional Equipment
Outdoor Unit:
- Vertical discharge grille (2 required)
- Anti-vibration mounts (rubber)
- Drain connection - right angle
Indoor Unit:
- Filter box with integrated return air spigot and washable polypropylene net filter
- Temperzone SAT Controller
- Spring Mounting Kit
- Supply and return air plenums
- Safety drain tray
Safety Features
- High pressure and loss of refrigerant protection.
- Anti-rapid cycle timer and internal overload for compressor protection.
- Circuit breaker control circuits.
- Time-and-temperature controlled electronic de-ice switch prevents icing during heating.
- Frost protection on cooling cycle.
- Sensor fault indication.
- Compressor minimum run time to ensure oil return.
Compressor
Each high-efficiency scroll compressor is hermetically sealed, quiet running, and mounted on rubber to minimize vibration.
Refrigeration Piping
The standard unit supports line lengths up to 30 meters. For lengths between 30m and 60m, consult the Temperzone Split Systems Installation Guide. The maximum line length is 60m, with maximum height separations of 20m (outdoor unit above or below indoor unit).
The OSA 230 is shipped with a charge of HFC-410A (R410A) refrigerant sufficient for a 10m line length. Liquid and suction service valves are provided, with Accurator expansion devices controlling refrigerant flow. The indoor unit is shipped with a nitrogen holding charge. Both units feature brazed pipe connections.
Wiring: The electrical supply required is 3-phase 342-436 V a.c. 50 Hz with neutral and earth. The compressor crankcase heater requires a 24-hour power supply. A control panel in the outdoor unit is pre-wired for main power supply connection.
Temperzone operates a quality management system conforming to AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000.
Air Handling
Note: Airflows are for a dry coil. Reduce airflow by 5% in high moisture removal conditions. In free blow applications, ensure the indoor fan motor's full load amp limit is not exceeded. Fan airflows provided are for units installed without filters.
A graph illustrates airflow (l/s) versus external pressure (Pa) for different fan speeds (LOW, MED, HIGH), showing input power (W) and current (A) for each speed. Another graph shows airflow (l/s) versus input power (W) for different fan speeds.
Air Flow Correction Factors: Factors are provided for -20%, -10%, 0%, and +10% indoor air flow adjustments, affecting total and sensible capacity.
Pipe Length Capacity Loss: A table indicates the percentage loss in cooling cycle capacity due to pressure drop for different pipe sizes and lengths. It also provides additional pipe length allowance per bend and suction pipe size.
