The R1180 controller card features a PCIe 3.0 x16 Host Interface and eight SFF-8643 connectors for connecting U.2 NVMe SSDs.
R1180 Hardware Installation
Step 1: Cable Connection
The R1180 is designed for use with SFF-8643 to U.2 SFF-8639 cables that include a 15-pin SATA power connector. Each of the R1180's eight device ports accepts an SFF-8643 cable connection.
Step 2: Connecting the Cable
A SFF-8643 to U.2 SFF-8639 cable, equipped with a 15-pin SATA power connector, is shown. The SFF-8639 port connects to the NVMe SSD's U.2 port. The 15-pin SATA power connector connects to the system's power supply.
Step 3: PCIe Slot Installation
Insert the R1180 card into an available PCI-E 3.0 x16 or PCI-E 4.0 x16 slot on the motherboard.
Step 4: Port Identification
The R1180's eight device ports are sequentially numbered from left to right, and bottom to top (port1 to port8).
Please ensure all cables are securely connected to the R1180's device ports and the NVMe SSDs or backplane. Loose connections can cause instability, reduced performance, and dropped disks.
