Coleman Airbed Instructions

Important Safety Information

Not suitable for children under 3 years of age.

WARNING: Read airbed instruction manual and follow all safety instructions to avoid serious injury or death.

This furnishing has not been evaluated for flammability or cigarette ignition resistance. See instructions for additional warnings.

Risk of Suffocation

  • Infants have suffocated on inflatable mattresses. Never allow a child under 3 years of age or persons with limited mobility to sleep on an inflatable mattress.
  • Children can be entrapped between the inflatable mattress and an adjacent vertical surface. Provide at least a shoulder width space between the inflatable mattress and walls, dressers or other vertical objects to avoid entrapment.
  • Always keep the inflatable mattress fully inflated when in use.

This airbed can melt or burn. Keep away from open flames, heaters, and other hot objects. Do not smoke on or near the airbed.

This airbed is not for use in water. It is not a life saving device, personal flotation device, or water toy.

This airbed is not a toy. Do not stand, walk, jump or play on the airbed. This can result in serious injury or damage to the airbed.

General Usage Guidelines

Keep inflatable products away from sharp or pointed objects.

Fill with cold air only. Never use a hair dryer to inflate, this could cause melting.

Do Not Over Inflate. Bursting items can cause serious injury. Inflate the airbed until most of the wrinkles in the material are gone and the bed feels firm to the touch.

CAUTION: Air temperature and weather do affect the air pressure in inflatable products. In cold weather your airbed will lose some pressure due to the fact that the air will contract. If this occurs, you may want to add a little air to improve your airbed's performance. However, in hot weather, the air will expand. You must let some air out to prevent the airbed from failing due to overpressure. You should avoid exposing your airbed to extreme temperatures (hot or cold).

Valve Operation

To Open Valve:

  1. Open the external cap.
  2. Pull the lanyard to extend the internal seal.
  3. Firmly pull the cap to unseat the valve from the inner post, fully opening the valve.

To Close Valve:

  1. Reverse Steps 1 & 2. Make sure the valve seats on the inner post.
  2. Close the external cap.

Inflation and Deflation

To Inflate using Coleman® QuickPump™ Unit:

  1. Open the external cap and pull firmly on the lanyard to extend out. This will open the internal seal.
  2. Attach the adapter nozzle to the inflation end of the pump. Insert the pump and turn it on.
  3. When fully inflated, seal the valve by pushing in with the pump nozzle. This will seal the internal stopper and keep air from escaping while closing the cap.
  4. Fully remove the pump and close the external cap. The valve should appear depressed into itself.

To Deflate using Coleman® QuickPump™ Unit:

Remove the adapter nozzle from the inflation end and attach it to the opposite deflation side of the pump. Repeat the same steps as inflation. This will draw the air out quickly.

To Deflate without use of a Pump:

To deflate, open the external stopper and pull to extend out, allowing air to escape. When fully deflated, close the stopper.

Wrap 'N' Roll™ Storage System (Select models only)

Storage Steps:

  1. Deflate the airbed. (Leaving the Double Lock™ Valve open while rolling will help remove any remaining air for more compact storage.)
  2. Fold the bed as shown.
  3. Roll up the airbed toward the storage flap.
  4. Wrap the storage flap around the rolled bed and tie the ends to secure.

Maintaining Firmness

The firmness of your airbed may decrease after you first inflate it, which is often misinterpreted as a leak. Don't worry, your airbed is not really leaking. This is normal on all PVC (vinyl) airbeds and is most noticeable the first several times you inflate your bed. The loss of firmness is due to material stretching that occurs naturally from internal air pressure, your body weight, and temperature changes.

If you notice a decrease in your bed's firmness, simply add more air. To reduce overnight bed sagging and ensure the most comfortable night's sleep, we recommend inflating your airbed at least 2 hours before you plan to go to sleep. This will allow the material time to stretch. Then top off the air right before you go to bed to maintain your firmness throughout the night. If you plan on using the bed for a few nights or more, you'll need to occasionally add air (right before bedtime would be best).
