Bauer Keyless Compartment Door Latches
This document outlines the features, installation, and troubleshooting for the Bauer family of Keyless Compartment Door Latches, including models BP-20E, BP-22E, BP-24E, and BP-25E.Product Overview
The Bauer Keyless Compartment Door Latches offer four styles for direct replacement of current Slam Latches. Each latch is a self-contained, smart latch that communicates with a smartphone or through the Bauer Gateway. Latches are powered by a 9V battery, with standard alkaline batteries lasting approximately 3 months and lithium batteries lasting 6 months. Battery life can be extended by turning off the 9V Battery Holder when in storage.
Latches can be locked/unlocked manually with a key or via the Bauer Connect App, available on Google Play Store or Apple Store. Multiple latches, including Bauer's NE or EM Keyless Entrance Door Latches, can be grouped for one-touch locking/unlocking via the Bauer Connect App. Bauer Products Locking and security products utilize Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for communication. A limit exists on the total number of BLE devices that can connect to a phone simultaneously, including other devices like earbuds and vehicles. Factors influencing connections and performance include the BLE specification limit (typically 7) and the phone's manufacturer and model. Bauer recommends a maximum of 4-6 connections for Android phones with an S22 or A35 processor, and 6-8 for iOS phones. For more connections, Bauer BLE Gateway or Bauer Cellular/Wi-Fi Gateway is recommended.
Installation Considerations
- Bauer Keyless Compartment Door Latches function best on storage compartments. Doors with access panels or obstructions like refrigerators may diminish Bluetooth signal strength.
- Door manufacturers have slightly different cut-outs. Ensure the latch fits properly and engages the door. The paddle should be tight with the housing when the door is closed, and in the normally closed position when the door is open, indicating the spring-loaded plunger is fully engaged.
Installation Instructions
BP-20E and BP-22E Keyless Compartment Door Latch Installation
Most compartment doors are hinged on top, rotating upwards, which can make self-installation challenging. Assistance is recommended.
- Remove the old lock.
- Clean the cut-out, removing any dirt or loose material.
- Install the Outside Assembly of the lock on the exterior of the compartment door, guiding the wire through the cut-out.
- Plug the Battery Wire from the Inside Plate Assembly into the Receptacle on the wire.
- Carefully align the lugs and mounting holes on the Inside Assembly and install screws. Tighten in a cross pattern, avoiding crushing or cutting wires.
Note for BP-22E: Align the Plunger Cam with the Paddle Cam to ensure the paddle retracts the plunger when opened.
BP-24E and BP-25E Keyless Compartment Door Latch Installation
Similar to the BP-20E/BP-22E, installation may be challenging due to door orientation, and assistance is recommended.
- Remove the old lock.
- Clean the cut-out.
- Install the Outside Assembly of the lock on the exterior of the compartment door.
- Align the Inside Assembly with the Outside Assembly. Ensure the Square Shaft Paddle Clutch (Outside Assembly) aligns with the Lock Cylinder Cam (Inside Assembly), and the Paddle Cam (Outside Assembly) aligns with the Plunger Cam (Inside Assembly).
- Install screws, tightening in a cross pattern.
