How The System Works
The video doorbell system includes two main parts:
- The video doorbell installed at your door.
- The Wi-Fi Homebase located inside your house.
The video doorbell detects motion at your porch and allows you to answer the door anytime, anywhere. The Wi-Fi Homebase stores video clips on a microSD card (user-provided) and functions as an indoor digital chime. When someone rings the doorbell, people inside the house will be notified.
System Diagram Description: A two-story house illustration shows the Video Doorbell mounted on the exterior front door and the Wi-Fi HomeBase connected to a power outlet inside the house, with Wi-Fi antennas extended.
Powering on the Wi-Fi HomeBase
- Fix the power connector to Wi-Fi Homebase:
- Place the power connector over the Wi-Fi Homebase in the direction indicated by the arrows.
- Align the raised slots of the power connector with the notch on the base of the Wi-Fi Homebase.
- Rotate clockwise to lock the power connector in place.
- Extend Wi-Fi Homebase's antennas.
- Plug Wi-Fi Homebase into an AC power supply at your desired location. The LED indicator turns solid green when the doorbell chime is ready for setup.
Connection Diagram Description: Three steps are illustrated: 1. A power connector being attached to the Wi-Fi HomeBase. 2. The Wi-Fi HomeBase with the connector attached, showing the 'OPEN' and 'LOCK' positions. 3. The Wi-Fi HomeBase plugged into a wall outlet.
Setting up the System
Download the App and Set up the System:
- Download the AOSU App from the App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play (for Android devices).
- Scan the QR code provided in the documentation or search for "AOSU" in the App Store or Google Play.
Register or log into the App. Add the Video Doorbell and scan the QR code for the installation process.
Charging Your Doorbell
The doorbell comes with a 70% battery level for safe transportation. Fully charge it before mounting the doorbell at your front door.
Charging Diagram Description: The doorbell is shown with a battery icon indicating charge level. An arrow points from a USB-C port on the doorbell to a USB power source. A clock icon indicates a charging time of 4-6 months (this seems like battery life, not charging time - need to clarify with next page). The text below clarifies battery life.
Notice: The battery life varies depending on usage. In most common cases, a doorbell may have up to 10 events per day, with each recording lasting 20 seconds on average. Under these conditions, the doorbell battery life can last up to 6 months.
Finding a Mounting Spot
Take the Video Doorbell to your front door and check the live view on the AOSU App simultaneously. Find a position that provides the desired field of view. Consider the following factors:
- Check if you can reuse existing holes and anchors on the wall or door frame.
- If placing the doorbell close to a side wall, ensure the wall does not appear in the field of view. Otherwise, IR light may reflect, causing blurry night vision.
- If drilling mounting holes for the first time, the recommended mounting height is 48 inches (1.2 meters) from the ground.
Place the Screw Hole Positioning Card against the wall to mark the position.
Mounting Height Diagram Description: An illustration shows two figures at a doorway. One figure is approximately 1.76m (5'9") tall. The recommended mounting height for the doorbell is marked at 1.2m (48") from the ground. Another diagram shows the doorbell's field of view from a side wall perspective.
Mounting the Bracket
If mounting on hard materials like brick, concrete, or stucco, drill two holes using the Screw Hole Positioning Card and a 15/64" (6mm) drill bit. Insert the provided anchors, then use the provided long screws to secure the Mounting Bracket to the wall.
What is required: Power Drill (not provided), 15/64″(6mm) Drill Bit, Mounting Bracket, Screw Packs (spare screws and anchors are included).
Mounting Diagram Description: Two configurations are shown: "Without 15° Mounting Wedge" and "With 15° Mounting Wedge". Both show the Mounting Bracket being secured to a wall with screws. The second diagram includes a wedge behind the bracket.
Required Tools/Parts Description: Icons depict a Power Drill (not provided), a Mounting Bracket (potentially attached to a mounting wedge), and Screw Packs.
Mounting the Doorbell
Align the doorbell with the top of the mount and snap the bottom into place.
Mounting Diagram Description: The doorbell is shown aligning with the top of the mounting bracket, then being pushed downwards to snap into place, indicated by numbered arrows (1 for top alignment, 2 for snapping the bottom).
You're all set! If you need to detach or recharge the doorbell, refer to the following sections.
Detaching the Doorbell
Use the doorbell detaching pin provided to detach the doorbell from the Mounting Bracket.
- Insert and press the detaching pin into the hole located on the bottom of the doorbell.
- Lift to detach the bottom of the doorbell.
What is required: Doorbell Detaching Pin.
Detaching Diagram Description: An illustration shows the detaching pin being inserted into the bottom hole of the doorbell. A close-up view highlights the pin in the hole. Another view shows the doorbell being tilted away from the wall after detachment.
Recharging the Doorbell
Charge the doorbell using universal USB chargers that deliver 5V 1A/2A output.
Charging Diagram Description: A USB cable connects a power source (represented by a wall plug) to the USB-C port on the doorbell, with a battery icon indicating charging.
LED indication | Status |
---|---|
Charging | The blue light flashes |
Fully charged | Solid blue |
Charging time: 6 hours from 0% to 100%.
