Attach the handle to the upper rear of the unit using a wrench with the provided screws and nuts.
Step 4: Add Decorative Bedding
This should be done outdoors. Cover the burner with the included crushed glass.
DO NOT fill the crushed glass directly from the bag onto the burner, as the bags normally contain fine dust that could clog the burner nozzles. It is better to empty the bags into a suitable container and then place the glass or stones by hand around the burner.
Ensure that the area around the pilot area remains clear to allow air to enter.
Positioning of the Crushed Glass on the Burner: Keep the pilot area clear.
Gas Cylinder & Regulator
The unit includes a regulator and a 60 cm gas hose. It has a flow rate of 1.5 kg/hr and operates with a supply pressure of 50 mBar. It is suitable for most propane gas cylinders available at garden centers, retail stores, and gas suppliers.
Please follow the installation instructions carefully when connecting the gas cylinder, as failure to do so can cause serious damage!
Different regulators are available depending on the type of gas and cylinder size. Please ensure you use a suitable regulator with a minimum flow rate of 1.3 kg/h and the corresponding supply pressure. Contact your local gas supplier for more information if needed.
The gas hose should be checked regularly to ensure it is in good condition. It is also recommended to replace it according to standard procedures.
Propane or Butane
Although the gas fireplace can be used with either propane or butane, there is a difference between the two gases. Butane cannot be used at temperatures below 5°C, while propane can be used all year round.
Propane gas is recommended.
- Maximum diameter or width: 305 mm
- Maximum height (regulator not included): 600 mm
Gas Line
The unit comes with a 27 mm clip-on regulator with an 8 mm inlet, suitable for propane.
If you wish to use a different type of regulator or gas, you must remove the installed regulator and replace it as needed. To change the regulator, securely connect the gas hose to the gas inlet connection and secure it with the hose clamp.
New hoses can be quite stiff and difficult to slide onto the inlet hose. Soften the end of the hose by holding it under hot water for a few seconds. Try not to get water into the hose.
CAUTION: It is extremely important NOT to route the gas pipe directly under the burner. Ensure that the pipe does not touch any part of the burner or the cabinet. The hose must be positioned so that it is not excessively stressed or damaged.
Location of the Gas Fireplace
The gas fireplace is intended for outdoor use only. Always ensure adequate ventilation.
- Always maintain a sufficient distance from flammable materials of at least 2 meters.
- Do not place in the immediate vicinity of your house.
- Do not place in the immediate vicinity of sheds, garages, or fences.
- Do not place under roof coverings or low-hanging trees.
- Do not place near power sources or under overhead power cables.
- The unit must be placed on a level, firm surface.
- The unit is equipped with a "tip-over shut-off" device. If the unit is tilted or not standing vertically or should fall over, the gas supply will be automatically interrupted and the unit will shut off.
- Never operate the unit in an explosion-hazardous environment.
Gas Requirements
- Only use propane or butane gas.
- Always use the correct pressure regulator and hose for the gas cylinder. Contact your local gas supplier for advice if needed.
- Dented, rusted, or damaged gas cylinders can be dangerous and should be checked by your gas supplier.
- Never use a cylinder with a damaged valve connection.
- Never connect an unregulated gas cylinder to the gas fireplace.
Leak Testing
The gas connections on the gas fireplace are tested for leaks at the factory before shipping. A complete leak test should be performed during installation due to possible incorrect handling during shipping or excessive pressure on the gas fireplace.
Prepare a soap solution of one part liquid detergent and one part water. The soap solution can be applied with a spray bottle, brush, or cloth. Bubbles will form at any leaks.
The gas fireplace must be tested with a full gas cylinder.
Ensure the safety shut-off valve is in the "OFF" position.
Turn the gas supply from the cylinder ON.
In case of a leak, turn off the gas supply. Tighten all leaking connections, then turn on the gas supply and check again.
Never perform a leak test while smoking.
Ignition Procedure
Open the cabinet door and place the gas cylinder in the cabinet.
Ensure the control knob is turned clockwise to the "OFF" position.
Connect the regulator to the gas cylinder.
Turn the gas supply at the cylinder to "ON". Check for gas leaks between the cylinder and the regulator using the soap solution.
Press and hold the control knob down while turning it counter-clockwise to the "Ignition" position (a click should be heard), this will ignite the pilot flame.
If no click is heard, repeat this process. Note that when the gas fireplace is first connected to the gas cylinder, air may be present in the gas hose or the rest of the system. Hold the regulator valve knob down for about 1 minute to purge the air and allow gas into the system.
Once the burner has ignited, hold the control knob down for 5 seconds and then release it.
If the burner does not ignite, repeat the above steps.
Adjust the heat level by turning the control knob to the "High" or "Low" position.
To turn off the gas fireplace, first turn the gas cylinder valve or the control switch to the "OFF" position, and then turn the regulator valve knob on the unit clockwise to the "OFF" position.
If the burner does not ignite, turn the control knob to "OFF" (clockwise) and turn the gas cylinder valve to "OFF". Wait five minutes before attempting to re-ignite using the ignition sequence.
After Use & Storage
- Turn the control knob on the unit clockwise to the "OFF" position.
- Turn off the gas supply at the cylinder.
- Do not leave the area until the flames have completely extinguished.
- Do not leave children unattended, as the unit may remain hot for some time.
- Check the gas valve for leaks and damage. If damage is suspected, it must be replaced by a qualified technician.
- Always store gas cylinders in well-ventilated areas.
- Once the gas fireplace has cooled down, it can be moved to another location such as a garage or shed.
- When the gas fireplace has cooled down, a rain cover can be used for protection.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Ensure all cleaning is performed while the fireplace is switched off and completely cooled down.
- Wipe surfaces with a soft, damp cloth.
- Do not use abrasive or flammable cleaning solutions.
- Keep the gas fireplace covered outdoors when not in use to prevent rain from blocking the burner nozzles.
- Ensure the burner is clean and free of flammable materials and debris.
- Soot can accumulate on decorative elements. This could block the burner nozzles. Therefore, remove the fuel bed and wipe it with a damp cloth to remove soot.
- Soot may accumulate on the surrounding safety glass. Carefully remove the glass from the glass holder using an appropriate screwdriver, wipe the soot with a soft, damp cloth, and carefully reassemble it. Two people may need to disassemble and reassemble the surrounding safety glass.
- Ensure the gas hose is suitable and shows no signs of cracks or general wear.
- It is recommended to have the unit inspected by a qualified technician every 3 years.
- If the burner nozzles are clogged with soot or other debris, remove the fuel bed and use a needle or paperclip. Ensure the burner is turned off.
- Follow the maintenance steps mentioned above regularly.
Troubleshooting
Pilot Light Not Lit or Stays On:
- Ensure the gas supply is turned on and the cylinder is not empty.
- Press the ignition knob several times. Make sure to hold the main gas lever down for at least 10 seconds.
- If the ignition knob remains stuck, spray with lubricant, e.g., WD40, when the fireplace is not in operation.
- If air has been trapped in the lines, it may take some time for all the air to be purged from the system.
- Check if the pilot is covered by glass or lava stones or other debris. Check if connections are loose and tighten them if necessary.
- Check if the gas hose is leaking. Replace if necessary.
- Try to ignite the igniter with a long match or a utility lighter if the spark electrode is wet or damaged.
- Ensure the unit is on level ground and standing completely vertically, as the "tip-over shut-off" may have been activated.
Burner Does Not Ignite:
- If the pilot flame is ignited, there should be no reason why the main burner does not ignite.
- If the pilot flame is burning, but the burner does not ignite, check if there are too many glass stones around the pilot flame assembly or if dust is present in the nozzles. This could block the main burner's ignition flame. Turn the burner upside down or remove the dust with compressed air.
- If the pilot flame is burning, but the burner does not ignite, the regulator valve may be damaged. This would need to be replaced by a qualified technician.
- If the pilot flame is not burning, the flame monitoring device has interrupted the gas supply. Wait 2 minutes and then try to ignite the pilot again.
- Ensure the unit is on level ground and standing completely vertically, as the "tip-over shut-off" may have been activated.
Main Burner Goes Out Suddenly:
- If the pilot is extinguished for any reason (sudden gust of wind or it starts to rain), the main gas supply will be automatically interrupted.
- Turn the control lever to the "OFF" position and let it stand for 2 minutes before re-igniting the pilot.
- Once the pilot flame is ignited, the main burner will function.
- The gas cylinder may be empty. If so, replace the gas cylinder with a full one.
- Ensure the unit is on level ground and standing completely vertically, as the "tip-over shut-off" may have been activated.
