Water Maintenance and Chemicals
CAUTION: Unplug the spa before any maintenance.
Filter Cartridge Maintenance
- Inspect and clean the filter cartridge after each use.
- Replace the filter cartridge every 3-5 days or when soiled.
- Always keep a filter cartridge installed when the spa is filled with water.
- Turn off all functions before changing or cleaning the filter.
- Clean inlet/outlet if clogged using the wrench. Ensure the spa is empty before unscrewing.
Spa Water
- Change spa water every 3-5 days depending on use. Clean the tub if water is visibly dirty or cloudy.
- Shower before use to remove lotions and residues.
- Cover the spa when not in use to prevent pollution.
- Use spa chemicals as recommended. Spa damage from chemical misuse is not covered by warranty. Consult a local spa retailer for chemical advice.
Water Sanitation
Regularly check and maintain sanitized water to control bacteria and viruses. Proper water balance is crucial for spa life and water quality.
Water Balance
PARAMETER | TEST FREQUENCY | CORRECT LEVEL | NOTE |
---|---|---|---|
pH | Daily | 7.2-7.6 (Chlorine) / 7.2-7.8 (Bromine) | Low pH damages spa/pump. High pH causes white coagulation in the pump. |
Free Chlorine | Daily | 3-5 ppm | |
Bromine residual | Daily | 2-4 ppm | |
Total Alkalinity (TA) | Weekly | 80-120 ppm | |
Total Hardness (TH) | Weekly | 200-500 ppm |
Water Treatment
- Keep air jets open and valves closed when treating water to flush pipework.
- Follow chemical manufacturer's instructions and warnings.
- Bromine is recommended for TEKAPO/BERGEN models.
- Never mix chemicals. Add separately and dissolve thoroughly.
- Do not mix chlorine and bromine. Change water if switching between them.
- Do not add chemicals when the spa is occupied.
- Avoid overuse of chemicals or concentrated chlorine, which can damage the spa and skin.
Drainage, Cleaning and Storage
Spa Drainage
- Turn off all functions.
- Connect the garden hose adaptor to the drain valve.
- Drain the water.
- Lift the spa when minimal water remains.
- Press the BUBBLE button to dry the pool.
Spa Tub Cleaning
After draining, use a sponge and mild soap to wipe the interior. Rinse thoroughly before refilling. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
Deflation Instructions
- Unscrew the valve on the spa pool to deflate.
- Replace the valve once deflated.
Spa Tub and Air Bladder Repair
Use the enclosed repair patch for punctures:
- Clean and dry the damaged area.
- Apply glue (not included) to the patch and attach it to the damaged surface.
- Smooth out air bubbles and allow to dry for 5-10 minutes.
Storage and Preparation for Future Use
- Drain and clean the spa.
- Deflate and disassemble components.
- Ensure all parts are clean and dry. Air-dry the tub in mild sunlight for an hour before folding.
- Fold the tub loosely, avoiding sharp corners.
- Prepare a new filter cartridge for next use.
- Store in a dry, temperature-controlled area (0°C - 40°C / 32°F - 104°F).
- Use original packaging for storage if possible.
Precautions for Seasonal Use
Summer / Sunny Days
- Direct sunlight can cause the liner to expand. Place the spa in a sheltered location.
- Regularly check air pressure; keep manometer in the GREEN section when filled. If unattended, release air to the YELLOW section to prevent over-expansion.
- Enjoy the spa in the morning or evening for milder temperatures.
- Check water temperature and consider lowering it when not in use. Turn off the heater if not using for extended periods.
Winter
- Low temperatures harden PVC, making it fragile. Warm the spa indoors for 12 hours before unfolding if stored in cold conditions.
- The spa requires more air at lower temperatures. Inflate above 15°C (59°F) for easier inflation and reduced liner expansion. Do not inflate below 4°C (39°F).
- Heating takes longer in cold weather. Use lukewarm water and heat preservation accessories (ground mat, inflatable bladder).
- Keep the heater on (or in standby mode) if the spa is filled with water and the temperature is below 4°C (39°F) to prevent freezing. The Anti-icing System will automatically heat water to 3°C (37.4°F) if it drops below 1°C (33.8°F).
- Disassemble and store properly if not using the spa for an extended period.
Rainy Days
- MSpa has an IPX5 water-resistant rating, suitable for light rain.
- Do not turn on the bubble function in the rain, as moisture can damage the pump and bubble generator, voiding the warranty.
- Protect the plug from water accumulation, even though it is IPX5 rated.
Disposal and Environmental Protection
Recycle this product responsibly through designated collection systems. Contact local authorities for disposal information.
